I need a good strategy.

How do I figure out what is a good deal?

We want to stay at a nice place. We need a good pool, a good arcade room, food on-site, easy to get to everything.

Can somoone tell me how to classify the resorts - what does a value resort really mean?? What is a good price for each resort category?

We are a family of six - so we may need two rooms at some of the resorts - but if the price is right tat is just fine.

Any help would be great!

Thanks

go to mousesavers.com to get the discount code and reserve 2 rooms at an AllStar resort. :D

Deb's site has a lot of information that may be helpful to you:

Click on General Information. In addition, take a look at the individual resort pictures and FAQs.

In my mind, using Marriott brands as a reference, the Value resorts are equivalent to Fairfield Inns, the Moderates are equivalent to Courtyard, and the Deluxes are similar to (well, probably slightly superior to the high-end Marriotts or Renaissance Hotels. Of course, Disney offers superior service and amenities at each level than Marriott does.

You will pay higher rates at WDW resorts than you would at the equivalent Marriott hotels; you pay extra for being "near the Mouse" and for the convenience of the transportation system. But with discount rates, WDW is still affordable for just about any budget and staying onsite is worth the extra costs involved.

Hope this helps!

The value resorts - All Stars - do not have a sit down resturant, are farther away from the parks, don't have a hot tub or a fancy slide, limited room service, lots of rooms, and smaller rooms. Rooms open to the outside, unlike deluxes which have hallways.

OTH, they have a great food court, big themed pools, good bus service, and cheaper prices. Lots of kids, bright, colorful, good for families.
I think they have an arcade but I'm not sure. You could always go resort hopping at one of the deluxe hotels and check out their arcades.

As to what's a good price - go study the rack rates and then look around at other rates, such as the codes. Take a look at the 'what rate did you get' subject to see what others are cheering about. We all have a different idea about 'what's worth it'. What are you willing to pay for and what are you willing to settle for?

There are discounts all the time check the website referenced above. For a family of 6 you may be better off at a home away from home and you should checkout the DVC board to see about renting points. If you stay away from weekends you save a bundle. We stay at deluxe resorts frequently when we go to WDW but DD was just at the AS and she said that the resort was great. It was fine for a WDW trip and she was willing to go there and get two rooms as opposed to going to the Poly this fall. She has been to all the resorts in DW and she does know the difference in quaility. She loved the food court. The Mousekeeper was great and she made a point of talking to the girls everyday. This was her senior class trip and she came home raving about the AS and she wasn't in a room with her best friends or anything. She just thought that the resort was much better for little kids than staying at a deluxe because the place is set up for a more family fun thing.
