Resort Pools

Why would that make someone more suspicious? When dh and I go out I never bring my keys if he has his. Same when we are at the resort. One less thing for me to lose ;)

We are the same way! We are a family of 5 and only bring one room key with us. We tend to go in the pool together and I would prefer not to leave 5 room keys laying around unattended while swimming. And yes, if I or my husband went off to buy some snacks, I would not have a room key and would have to tell the lifeguard "I don't have it, my husband does!"

Wow. That must be new. We were just there in May and the towels are in little carts all around the pool. It has always been like this. I'll believe it when I see it on our next trip in 83 days!!!! I doubt this will keep the hoppers out of the pool and now it makes it so I can only get one towel. I always get tons of towels for us but I guess those days are over!

They tend to "randomly" check during the busier seasons - like June thru Aug. and around the holidays like Christmas,Easter,Thanksgiving and such or any time that the pool just seems to be more crowded. There's times I've been at the Poly pool hopping (I'm a DVC member) and saw absolutely no checking but 2 out of every 3 times we've gone (we tend to hop there for the jumping fountain as I have a 4 yr old who loves it) I have seen them check and have seen people asked to leave when they couldn't produce their resort I.D. They did have a CM stationed by the towels asking for I.D. the last time we went too. They'll give you as many towels as you need though as long as you can show your I.D.;)

Bottom line though, to the OP's question, if you get permission first then it's not really an issue. But I would make sure you take note of the name of the CM who grants permission in case your guest is asked for I.D. and make sure you can produce YOUR resort I.D.

Who is this guest anyway? In your OP you made is sound like it was someone YOU were bringing as if you were staying at the Poly. In the above post it sounds like it is YOU that isn't supposed to be there. Which is it?

Okay, here's the story. I'm staying at the Poly. My brother and sister-in-law (who live in FL) are coming to spend 4 days with us at the parks but they're staying off site. The first day we get there we're going to spend the day by the pool and go to dinner at O'hana's. I called to ask if we can have guests at the resort and they said yes. So I made the plans with them not thinking about the pool situation. They've never seen the Poly and I would love for them to be able to go to the pool. I think I might just ask if we can have guests at the pool. I wouldn't want them to have to leave. It is a "family gathering" after all!! And they will be spending their money at O'Hana's for dinner.

It's going to depend on when you will be there. If it's a busy time, you might likely be told no. Also, just because a CM at the front desk says yes, the lifeguards can override that. And if the pool gets very crowded, they can (and do) randomly check ID's, and it's quite possible that your relatives might be asked to leave, even if they are your guests and you previously got permission. I'd make alternate plans in case this happens--maybe a day at a water park?

I'd also have them look into a Florida resident rate to stay right at the Polynesian with you--then it's a non-issue. :)

As an FYI, just because they are "spending the money" to eat at Ohana, doesn't give them the right to swim. If everyone who ate at Ohana also swam in the Polynesian pools, it would be like sardines in a can.
