How strict are they on having guests at the resort pools? Do they actually check?

I am talking about the Poly. How do they check? Do they ask for room key? What if you say, well my husband has it and he's hanging out in the lobby or something?? (LOL)

They randomly check resort ID/room keys. You will also need the ID for towels.

I'm not accusing anyone of being sneaky, but why would anyone not have a room key with them?

Actually you don't need any ID for towels. They are there for the taking by anyone.

I am staying at the Wilderness Lodge and don't plan on pool hopping (it's hard enough getting organized for our own hotel pool with a 2 year old), but was curious about how you "know" that people don't belong to that pool? I often see that said in posts about pool hopping. Just curious.....
You also see them coming from the parking lots with their pool things and they don't have a parking pass for that resort or from a DVC resort.Originally posted by Sammie
I emailed Disney about Pool usage recently to the Polynesian and this is the reply I recieved from the Recreation Manager at the Polynesian.
I was told they would be checking ID's as they dispensed towels. I guess if they are stationed there you need ID, if not then you can get a towel without ID.
