Anyone have experience with resort pools in January? I know they're heated (-ish)... But is it comfortable? Chilly? What's been your experience?

We have gone to WDW many times in January. The pools are heated and people do swim in them, even when it is chilly out. The moderate and deluxe resorts have hot tubs, which have really hot water. You can warm up in the hot tub after swimming if you are cold. :)

We went first week of February and it was pretty chilly outside without even being in the pool, and my otherwise adventurous family wasn't adventurous enough to even try the pool. <I heard January/February are similar temps>

We had a February stay at Beach Club that was rather chilly (50s). We found out that the pool would close early when temperatures hit a low of "50-something". Sorry i can't remember the exact temperature. This occurred two nights in a row. Not a huge deal for us because the pools closed less than one hour early each night.

We've visited a handful of times in late January/early February, and the weather was quite variable from one trip to the next (and, often, during a given trip). We had some swimmable days and some that definitely weren't. Warm wishes to you, OP!

The pools are heated to 82. It's very comfortable IN the water no matter how cold it is outside. However, getting OUT of the water is a whole 'nother story. :scared1:

We always swim. 50 in January is tropical!

I will say, the only people in the pool with us are typically from Canada/Minnesota/Dakotas/Wisconsin/Michigan. Everyone else thinks we are crazy :)

One year, however, it was a group of Texans!

We were at WDW late January/early February 2016 and swam all but the first day of our trip. One of those days, the lifeguards were wearing parkas and the pools were practically empty (air temp high 60s but breezy). It was chilly but not unbearable. Few days later, it was mid-80s air temp and the pools were very crowded. For a future January trip, I'd come prepared to swim with the understanding that the weather might or might not be conducive. You never know and it can change day to day.

Thing is, in Jan/Feb it can be 80 or it can be 40. All in 24 hours even. We've been there more than once when it was in the 40's and when it was in the 80's
No matter how much they heat the pool, 40 is not really swimming weather. 80 is.
You can't predict how it will be during a given week

I'm from Michigan, so my opinion may not be that of others :)
We Always swim! Though we go in the summer now, we went over our February break for several years. We always found time to swim! Yes, the life guards wore jackets, but they also wore them one day last summer too!
Have fun and find time to make a splash!!
