Resort Payment Question - Room Only

I have a room only reservation at BC next week. I have already paid for the first night. Will the balance be due upon check in or do they charge us individually for each room night as we stay? I ask because I am using a debit card and there is a limit on spending on it for each day. I also have to get tickets when I check in which combined with room and food for the day will easily put us over the limit if the balance is payable on check in.

Can someone confirm that I can pay be personal check (that would get me around the debit crisis)? Otherwise, I am headed to AAA tomorrow to get travelers' checks.

If you have used travelers checks at WDW, have you ever had any trouble cashing $100 denominations. I don't feel like constantly signing $20 denominations at WDW.

We usually do room only ressies too. I believe they charge the balance of your reservation all at once at the time of check-in. We usually call down a week or two in advance and pay it off. If you pay the balance off now, you won't have to worry about that amount eating up your daily allowance on your debit card. Then all that will be going on that card on that day is the tickets and food/spending.

I'm not sure if they take personal checks, we've always paid with a debit or credit card

never used travelers checks so I'm not sure of the denominations

We ran into this same dilemma. We just called our bank and they raised our debit limit for the day so we were able to pay for it all in full a week or so in advance before our trip. You should try calling your bank like we did or maybe you could pay however much your limit allows, on one day and the next day, pay off the rest.

They do not take personal checks.

You could buy some Disney giftcards a few at a time in advance with your debit card and present those to pay for your room and/or tickets when you check in.

Your room balance will charge at time of check-in. If you charge your tickets to your room card, you will be able to charge $500 at Values, $1000 at Mods or $1500 at Deluxes before the total hits your credit/debit card, so you could pay a little every day to keep it under your per-day spending limit.

I was beginning to think only my bank does that daily limit thing. And, it's very low. You can either pay cash upon arrival for the balance or ask your bank to raise their daily limit.

The other thing to keep in mind with hotels is that often times, they'll 'debit' the account, but it's really just a hold on the money and despite looking like it's gone through on your statement, they won't always put the charge through to remove the money until after your last day and they know you didn't steal towels or break their TV.

Usually I'll ask them to run the actual amount at check in since it's a debit card, and leave the number on file *just in case* something happens. Sometimes they'll look at me like I don't know what I'm talking about, but it should be able to be done. That way the money is out, there's no confusion later, and I'm not double-dipping places or running into days where my spending limit is hit.

I really like the idea of purchasing some Disney gift cards. I would have never thought of that.

You can call and make payments anytime. I prefer to have the room done and paid for before I arrive so I don't have to worry about it.

I know that others purchase gift cards... especially if you get gas perks at your local grocery store. I still like to call the gift cards in before I leave because we had an issue once with a gift card from the grocery that didn't work. If I were already on vacation, I would have been in a world of trouble.

We do room only, and have it paid off before arrival. I divide the cost with how many months I have to pay and do monthly payments.
In future maybe you could do this.
For now- do you have a credit card? You can phone and pay it off, with your CC, then pay that off.
Or take a travellers check as you mentioned. I've never heard of a hotel taking daily payments.

actually most of the large hotel chains (i.e. Marriott) charge your room daily as you stay in it but Disney is run a little differently. It's no problem. I picked up traveler's checks from AAA today. Haven't used traveler's checks in more than 20 years probably, but AAA still offers them free to members.
