We are heading to Cape May for a Character breakfast (not staying onsite) and was wondering if its a big NO NO to leave our car @ Cape May for a few hours (2-3 hrs) and use a bus to go over to Downtown Disney shopping?
You've already received your answer...I will just agree. Drive there. It will take you about 20 mins on the bus, once you finally get on one, vs less than 10 mins to drive there. Then reverse that to get back to BC??? Yeah, not a good idea.
We just figured it was easier to take out 4 kids, a regular stroller and a double stroller one time as opposed to twice and not waste 40 minutes with parking, walking, and then meeting up with our party. And no resort that we went to was filled to capacity to the point that you couldn't park anywhere.
So...I'm assuming that you parked in a distant spot, correct?? You may have felt it was easier for you to just unpack once and then go about your day, but I'm pretty sure those who actually paid to stay at the BC felt they would pay dearly for the right to have things 'easier'.
At busier times of year (times that bring a lot of offsite people to the parks...Christmas, July 4, Food and Wine time, etc.), there is signage at the resorts that say parking for park access is not permitted. And to the best of my knowledge, if you were to ask at the security house, upon arriving at that resort, and told the guard that you want to eat at BC, and then head to Epcot for the day, you would be told to move your car to the Epcot lot after eating. And if you aren't told that, there are going to be many people paying to stay at BC, and park their car there, that are going to be very unhappy.
The ability to more quickly access a park is one of the perks of paying to stay at a deluxe resort. Why in heaven's name people think they can eat there and then head off to a park for the day, is beyond me.
But...there will always be those who feel they are entitled to park at any resort at any time they wish to. They will justify this in some way. And you know what?? What goes around comes around. So, do as you wish....as long as you realize what the official policy is.
Now...if you choose to pay to valet park??? Go off and do anything you wish to do. That's okay. So, those who say they aren't trying to get around parking fees should be okay with this. You were going to have to pay anyway....right?
