I've stayed at Universal once before but never had my car. I know you have to pay for parking at RPR (which I'm not thrilled about). I can't remember if there was a lot at the hotel...please tell me there is and I don't have to park in that bohemoth parking garage?

rph and the other 2 hotels have parking lots for the guests.

you don't park in the garage when you are staying at the onsite hotels.

Thank you for answering both my posts! :)

Any idea why they make their guests pay for parking there? And why it's so much? I think it's kind of ridiculous considering how much the rates for the hotel are.

I'm with you, its stupid that you have to pay for parking when you pay so much for the rooms. I actually wrote to Loews to ask that question and said it would actually be better to include it in the room rates than have people pay for the room and then for parking. Guess they weren't that interested in what I thought since they never responded.

all hotels that are 4 star where i have stayed in the united states have parking charges.

for downtown chicago, you usually pay $40 a night to park at those hotels.
same for other big cities.

at disney, you don't have the parking fee but it is hidden in the room costs.
i have stayed at the values there and to pay $120 for a weekend night is way too high. i assume parking is built into that room rate.
maybe i am wrong, but that is what i think.

the loews hotels do run less on parking fees for the hotels than some other places.
they charge it because they have you there and they can do it.

i can remember when i stayed at the onsite hotels years ago and the fee for my rented car for parking was $6

i do prefer that the loews hotels have the parking fee as an add on
i don't want it to be calculated into the room rates as a hidden fee.

i don't have a car when i am there and prefer not to pay the fee for others.

Oops we posted an answer at same time!
I don't like it either but if you did not have your own car would you still want to pay for parking? That's why they do not include it in the room rate. I wish it were more reasonable though. Rumor is it has gone up to $20 (at HRH at least via a recent TR I read) Does anyone know if this is because they are no longer part of Loews or do you think it's gone up at all 3?

i read that trip report also and wondered what date they were there.
that was the first i heard about that $20 charge.

i left HRH on october 13th and the parking fee was not $20 on that date.

last year it was $12 then moved up to $16 a night for parking.
sometimes i read where hrh only charged the $12.
don't know if that was an error or not.

i prefer having the parking charges separate from the hotel room charges.

Having just returned, I can tell you it's at least $20 to park per night. Valet is somewhere around $25. I think the concept of hidden vs not is kinda bogus, and I think the rates are insane. I've never heard that wdw builds parking fees into their rates, and I've been about 20 times. I know wdw resort prices are steep, but $20/night for parking is a bit out there. I guess I'm in the minority that would rather pay an extra $10/night on my resort rate, regardless of whether or not I had a car.

On the hotel website, it says $15/nt...when I first booked it was $12. I'm really hoping they didn't raise it again. $20/night is a bit much. I don't mind paying for parking but the fact that's it's so much is what bothers me. That money could be better spent elsewhere.

Ah well, nothing I can do!

I wasn't aware Disney tacks on parking fees to their room rates. Whenever I've gone, I've had ridiculously good rates so even if they do that, I guess I don't really mind!

Choice of self or valet parking is available.

Overnight Guests
Self Parking: $15 plus tax per night
Valet: $22 plus tax per night

Day Guests
Self Parking: $20 plus tax
Valet: $25 plus tax

*Rates subject to change without notice

Plus tax? I've never heard of a tax on parking.

You are correct, just left the HRH on October 30th, it was $15 a night, the .98 cents tax per night. We were there for 6 nights, paid $95.88 just to park our car.........OUCH! :headache:

I'm staying 5 nights. $80, buh bye! :wave2:

Plus the $12 at Disney and whatever Sea World charges for parking now. Over $100 in parking alone. :scared1:
