Resort parking fees

I know that DVC owners aren't charged the resort parking fee, but how does that translate to "guests" of the owner? If a friend lets us use her points, her name is on the reservation, but we are listed as the guests, will I not have to pay the nightly parking fee? If I've rented points from an owner, and I still a "guest" of the owner? The language is a little vague... do the DVC resorts only charge parking fees it you are on a cash reservation directly with Disney/DVC and not through an owner? I'm just trying to figure out my budget...

Guests on a points reservation do NOT pay for overnight parking at the WDW resort, and because they are staging on site, they do not pay to park at the theme parks, either.

FWIW I know this may not technically be DVC related but I am a Resident Pass Holder and have stayed on property twice since reopening and was not charged parking fees. I don't know if that's a new thing or if that was glitch but just sharing my 2 previous experiences.

I do want to add that I have read reports that guests of DVC owners staying on points and DVC owners staying at the villas on cash have seen the charge added to their account,

Keep and eye out and if it happens to you, go to the front desk. All the reports stated it was removed, but be aware it could happen.

If they can find a way in which to legally do the first scenario, they will. (as long as they get to pocket that money) I bet it is really on their radar.

I believe they just check the room reservation at the gate and see that it is a DVC booked room and check ID for names on the reservation. That's what I've experienced.

I've read of people staying on points being charged and people staying on cash not being charged, so I'm not sure what their system is. We stayed at RIV one night on credit card reward points and were charged although as DVC members we shouldn't have been, but they had no way of recognizing our membership due to the way we made the reservation. So I would recommend that you monitor your folio via MDE, and if you notice a charge for parking, just go to the front desk and politely point out that you're staying on a points reservation. They'll take the charges off, no problem.
