Resort/park hopper package

I'm going to book a package (not including airfare) and want to make sure I understand correctly as I am not a fan of the tripinsurance. When I book, i put down a $200 deposit and pay the balance at 45 days. If for some unexpected reason I need to cancel at the last minute, the most I am out is $200 and recieve a credit on everything else. Is that correct?

Not a credit - a refund.

Cancel more than 45 days out - get back everything.
Cancel 6 to 45 days out - $50 cancellation fee.
Cancel less than 6 days out - either $100 (more likely) or $200 cancellation fee.
Don't show up - too bad.

Anyway, the other thing Disney is likely - but not guaranteed - to do is allow you to rebook your package for a later date, and apply ALL the money you paid for your now-cancelled trip.

Two points I'd add:

This applies if you're booking directly through Disney.

Secondly you don't have to pay at the 45 day mark, but rather paid in full by the 45 day mark, hence you can make payments along the way.

I've booked our 2007 & 2008 trips online and made all my payments that way too using a CC. Mom paid part of the cost and she made her payment with a phone call and a CC. You can also mail in checks, however I wouldn't cut it close to 45 days for a final payment via the mail.

I did book a bounceback trip at WDW before check out, so that wasn't via the web and just called to cancel that yesterday as we are using the free dining promotion instead (we can come earlier). That $200 deposit should hit my CC within the next week. I hadn't made any payments on that trip.
