Resort Package Delivery - Will it ever come back?

Unfortunately, the absence of this service hasn't changed my shopping habit. Yes, it was a pain to lug several Small World music boxes during our last trip, but I wasn't going to entrust these fragile beauties to a third party even if they were available.

This is the perfect example of something we would have mailed home. That way we wouldn't have to worry about overweight luggage or careless luggage throwers, I mean baggage handlers, at the airport.

These are so cute!! I, personally, loved the send to my room option and used it all the time. I love buying perfume in Epcot's French pavilion. Now I just order it online from my home....bummer. Not as fun.

I really miss the service! Used it dozens of times. Our last trip has me wondering more about this though.

For the first time ever we mailed an in-park purchase home. The pros were not having to carry around the park and insurance. That second part helped justify some of the $12.95 cost - at least we did not have to worry about items breaking in our luggage.

But it got me thinking if there’s a price I’d be willing to pay for the resort package delivery. $2? $3? $5?

If paying was the only way to get purchase sent back to resort, would you and how much?
I would pay! Not sure how much is reasonable...but let's say if they charge a flat rate of $25 for my entire stay, sure I'm happy to pay!

I think this is the service I miss the most. Honestly, I would probably buy more if they bring it back. I tend to buy most merch towards the end of the day when we know we are done w/ rides, so that leaves a lot of time for me to think about if I really want certain items, or I might forget about them all together. If I could send them to my resort, then I would buy right away.

I would definitely consider paying a package delivery fee as long as it wasn't a ridiculous amount. I always visit the Christmas store in MK and DS. Every year I buy everyone an ornament and get them personalized which means I have to come back to pick up. If they could be delivered to my resort I wouldn't have to wait around, and I also wouldn't have to lug around a heavy awkward bag.

I also always go to the Christmas store. I don't buy ornaments from there every visit, but if I do, then I have to schedule another time to go bck for the pickup. If I'm a couple days away from departure, I would have to ask the CM what's the turnaround time so I know I will have enough time to go back. A tad more work for sure.

We have used the ship to home option now a couple of times. Handy, especially with flying and large items like a helmet. Plus it is insured, so if anything is broken that is on them.
Also wish they would bring back resort delivery... even though I always seemed to time it too close to the end of our stay to really use it.... so another reason why I liked ship to home. Works great when you have an item personalized and need to wait, just ship it home.

I probably would, especially for a delicate item like a Christmas ornament. How much would probably depend on how much a percentage of the item it felt like, but your $3 suggestion seems reasonable.

but at that point why not just ship it home. They can package it up better than I can and will replace it if needed.

I didn't realize this service was gone. I would never buy anything if I had to carry it around the parks so they've lost money I would have spent. Of course they haven't lost much shopping money from me since we haven't been to WDW in 8 years.

I'm sure you're correct that they have run the numbers. They are very good number crunchers. 😉
Apparently it is actually pretty hard to calculate the ROI (return on investment) as an isloated perk, since they made (had to make?) so many changes at once, and a lot of people are having a hard time economically, etc, which could unnaturally skew the numbers vs pre-pandemic (meaning they're shopping less because they have less expendable income...they spent it all on the damn genie🤣). It also affects multiple decisions: will hotel guests shop more? AND, will some people value this perk enough to stay at our resorts over others? Since they took it away with a whole host of other perks, they can't really calculate the differential unless they bring it BACK alone and THEN crunch the numbers (even then they may still be skewed but they may be able to acquire useful data from it). This is what I remember from the conversation with my data analyst brother-in-law earlier today, lol.

FWIW, I think pickup at the front of the resort probably costs a negligible amount in terms of labor vs what people would buy. I honestly just think nobody in the "parks" division is talking about it enough to make it an agenda item. Most people are complaining about the "big" things (price increases, genie+, lack of spontaneity, forced to be on phone, etc), so this is low-level for them I imagine. People lost it when they started charging for resort parking...they "fixed" that, and that was a straight $ loss. This is more a cost/benefit analysis. Maybe we all need to tweet Josh D'Amaro every week until he brings it back🤣
