Obsessing Over Our Disneymoon. One Day At A Time

We're going to IOA for one day while we're at Disney. Since IOA closes at 6pm that day we might come back and either a) get room service or b) go to a resort restaurant. We're staying at the Poly and have no desire to go to Ohana and we got an ADR at Kona for breakfast while we're there. We're on the DxDDP. So which one credit resort restaurant would you recommend?

Background:
We're on our honeymoon and would rather have character dinning for just breakfast

As of now we have 2 extra credits each. We might use one of those credits for lunch on arrival day. If not then we'll get room service. If we do use that one credit for arrival day lunch, then we'll use the last remaining credit for dinner the day we go to IOA.

We're not picky eaters, but (and I'm not sure if its on the dinning plan) we definitely don't think Citricos' menu is appealing if that helps any.

Since you're at the Poly, look at restaurants at the monorail resorts:

Grand Floridian Cafe
The Wave
California Grill (2 credit)
Narcoossees (2 credit)

Kona for dinner was nothing short of fantastic and much better than breakfast, IMO. Don't discount that completely just because you're having breakfast there.

We like shutters at the CBR. have you looked at the allears.net menus? It really helped us figure out our DxDDP.

We are staying at Pop in January but very excited about dining at Kona at the Polynesian. The reviews are generally great plus the idea of watching the water pageant after dinner from the beach (usually 9 p.m.). Otherwise, another we were considering for 1 TS was Olivias at Old Key West (like the menu, seems to be mostly undiscovered but good food, good service).

Boma
Whispering Canyon Cafe
The Wave
Grand Floridian Cafe

How about a Downtown Disney restaurant???

Don't forget Jikos at AKL. It's a 2 credit
The Hollywood Brown Derby--DHS. This is a favorite of ours. 2
CG--is super! 2
Flying Fish--2. On the Boardwalk

Some nice 1 credit you may want to look into:
Le Cellier
Chefs de France
The Wave
Spoodles--for dinner, too!
Tokyo Dining--beautiful interior, wonderful service. May get a fireworks view.
Captain's Grille
Boatwright's Dining Hall-- at POR. Nothing for decor, but decent food. Definitely get the room with the fireplace. Go for a carriage ride after or before

If you're looking for a quieter venue try making ADRs for a later time of evening. It's no guarantee, but it helps not to dine at the popular hours.

And...

For a light hearted dinner try Whispering Canyon, we always have such fun there, and we really enjoy the down home cooking:)

I would vote for Boma, then you can have a nice walk around AKL and soak up the atmosphere.

Claire ;)

Why don't you want to eat at Ohana's? For dinner it is not a character dinner. One of the best nights at Disney was when my two boys (one was 12) stayed in our room with CS and cellphones and my DH and I went to Ohana's alone. Maybe I was in the Magic but it was very romantic.

We have also had very nice meals at Kona. We love Calif. Grill as well.

Good luck.

I'd go for Olivia's at Key West first, because it'll likely be less crowded. Second choice would be Grand Floridian Cafe.

I agree that Kona for dinner is terrific, and in my opinion one of the best values for 1 Table Service Credit (along with Le Cellier.)

Here are my three suggestions:
- Kona
- The Wave
- Le Cellier

I know you said you do not want to go there, but we have enjoyed all our meals at 'Ohana (we've had three dinners).

Kona is good, though I do think it's slipped recently.

The Wave is good as well and more of an adult atmosphere.

We've never eaten there, but next time I want to try the Grand Floridian Cafe.

We already have ADRs for all of these places except for GFC. I'll check out their dinner menu.

I'll check this out as well
I would vote for the Wave!
The Wave's dinner menu isn't appealing to us. Sorry for not stating that in my original post

Thanks for the congrats   We also have ADRs at Jikos, CG, Boatwrights, and Flying Fish. Hollywood Brown Derby, Le Cellier, Tokyo Dining, and Chefs de France aren't options since they're in a park. We're not using our park tickets just for dinner.

Spoodles is a fantastic recommendation. I just looked at the menu. I liked Captain's Grille as well.

The menu at Ohana for breakfast nor dinner appeals to us.

I hope I've answered everyones questions and I appreciate the suggestions. Love Dis:cheer2:

what about the Turf Club? or Raglan Road if you want some entertainment with dinner?
