Resort mugs????

Howdy,

We're leaving on Sunday for WDW and I'm wondering about the resort mugs policy. We were there last Oct. and have one mug for POR that is white with a purple lid. Can I still use that mug at POR? WHat about the old yellow and green POR mugs? Can I still use them at the POR resort???

I don't think you can use them year after year. You probably have to buy new mugs.

At many of the resorts, you can use your previous mugs & no cast members will say anything about it...I've even done it myself in the past. But I can tell you it's frowned upon here on the DIS Board so be prepared for some serious discussion about it.

We were just there last week and the mug with the purple lid is still being used. You probably could still use the one with the green lid (I saw someone using it) - I don't think anyone there would stop you. I personally would feel funny using an older mug but that's just me.

Thanks for the info! I have no problem buying new mugs as we always have in the past. I just happened to come across the old ones this morning and got to wondering if they were reusable or not.

Please leave a review on your stay at POR! I am going for my first time from Jan 16-19 and can't wait!

At this time the policy is not enforced, it is more of an honor code, which based on comments here, is not something many respect.

The official policy is: They no longer offer refills for life. Mugs are only good for the length of your stay at that resort.

So here's my question- can you get different colored mugs at one time at the resort? There's going to be 5 of us and if we could get more than one color it would certianly make things less confusing. Nothing a sharpie can't fix of course, but if we can get a few different colors to choose from that would be great.

At POR/POFQ they only have one color, purple. That's all we saw in June. I think you get still get the travel style or the regular style though. So that helps a little. A couple years ago the regular style was green and the travel one was purple.

I know what you mean about 5 mugs all the same. We have the same problem.

The CBR on the other hand does carry mugs in different colors. Which is really nice.

After reading this snippy reply, I went and hunted down my reading glasses and grabbed one of my two beloved POFQ travel mugs and "took a look at it".....Here is EVERY word written on the mug and top.....

"Disney's Port Oleans Resort"
"CocaCola"
"Disney"(trademark)

and...on the top..

"Lift to Remove"
"Do Not Twist"
"Caution Contents may be Very Hot"

and..on the bottom...

"Whirley Warren PA USA"
"CM-16"
the universal symbol for recycling

Nowhere on it does it ever mention anything about length of stay usage only. There are, however, signs everywhere at the drink counters stating so. So I guess that this poster is saying it is ok, since this restriction is not stated on the mug....??

I have seen people fill up all kinds of containers at the resorts. Right or wrong, the cast members don't seem to police it-I've never seen anyone say anything. If I buy a mug and I'm only staying 3 nights, I don't feel bad bringing it back to use again next trip, since most people are using theirs for a week or more.

It wasn't meant to be a snippy reply at all. AND NO I AM NOT SAYING IT IS OK. IT IS NOT OK. Don't read into things.

My POR mug from 2004 CLEARLY states that the mug is good for length of stay only and only at that resort. If the OP has been there in the last year, that mug should say the same thing.

My POR mug says Dixie Landings, and I wish they still made them, because it's my favorite mug, and it's looking pretty rough. I'd like to get a new one. It has song of the south characters on it.

uh oh here we go!!

We are going in a few weeks and I plan on buying the mugs. If I went six months or less ago then I would bring my mug back to use. Flame away. I personally think all this mug stuff is crazy. ( Not the questions,the judgmental replies you sometimes get with this issue) Everybody do your own thing and make choices that YOU can live with and not worry so much about who is using an "illegal mug" (for lack of a better word)

But If I'm being Welcomed Home then am I always staying Home so My stay really never ends well 50 yrs. is not bad.
Actully we love the mugs and use them for everything so they don't last more then a couple years Can't wait to get our new one at SSR.

Unless they have changed recently Saratoga Springs was selling DVC mugs instead of ones they say Saratoga Springs. This was in August, maybe someone that has been recently can tell you if they have changed them.

Ok I just got back from POFQ 11/8/5.
I saw new, old, yes even Dixie Landing mugs being used.
Cast members didn't stop anyone from using whatever.
Even with cast members cleaning drink station.
Right there in clear view still didn't stop anyone.
JMO makes no different to me.
