is it a different design or just a new year stamped on?

I'm guessing the designs are new every year or every 6 months or so. When we were at POFQ there were a few people who had mugs that were different to ours (which we had just purchased) so I imagine they were using old ones - which is very cheeky if you ask me!

When they had the resort mugs they didn't change every year. For at least four years the ASMo mug design was the same. It changed last year when they first had the YOMD mug design.

I still have the mugs from POR 2004. I really like them because they were specific to that resort. I've heard they aren't different by resort anymore, is this true? Also, if thats the case, can we use the same mug at other resorts??

I'm so sorry if this has already been answered :)

I've never purchased the resort mugs but I am considering it for our next trip.
I have a few questions:

How many ounces does the mug hold?

Does it come with a lid and straw?

Does it have a handle?

If someone could post a picture of the mugs, that would be great!!!

Thanks!

What does everyone do with their mugs once you are finished in the morning. Do you go back to your room to get rid of them or carry them to the parks and have them when you return to the resort later.

We always took ours back to the room. It's not the most convenient way of doing things. ;)

I rinse mine and slip the handle through the loop of my fanny pack so I have it for later... very light so I never even notice it's there... also nice to use when getting a drink from the water fountains in the park... much more sanitary. :thumbsup2

I think that the fine print on the side of the mug could be interpreted to mean just that stay at that resort only.

However, I honestly think that 99.99% of CMs would not even care, and they couldn't tell anyway. I mean, what's the difference, what if you had just stayed at one resort the entire time?

Now, the more clear policy is that they should only be used for that vacation. Again though, some folks will bring their old ones.

It probably holds about 12 or so ounces. It does come with a lid and a close-able hole for a straw. (but no straw comes with it) It does have a handle, and is shaped in such a way that it could fit in a cup holder.

Sorry, I don't have a picture to show, but I'm sure some others will.

The mugs for 2008 are pretty much the same as the 2007 mugs. I bought one in Jan and it still had the 2007 on it!! Go figure. The design is exactly the same.
You can use the new mugs at any resort beverage station...makes it nice for those doing a split stay..used to be that we were expected to buy one for each resort. But, they are still sold with the 'can only be used for the stay in which it was purchased' wording on the side.
In fact, just about all my mugs have that on the side...some even say I can only use it at the resort at which it was purchased for that stay only. I do have three mugs from DxL that were bought, back in the late 90's, when they were good forever. I have never brought them back though...even when at POR.

Can you use them year after year? You aren't supposed to. But many do and it seems that the CMs are very hesitant about stopping you..in fact, they don't.

We were just at ASSP in Dec. and b4 that ASMovies in Dec. 05. First day we went to buy mugs. Hubby wanted one of the wide mouth mugs, CM said they arent handling those anymore, now they will be all the same mug, hubby was disappointed, CM said you should have bought back your old one, everyone does. Don't think that is right. Just saying what the CM told him. While we were at AS SP, we saw a lot being used from other resorts. I would post a pic. but don't know how.

I rinsed mine out and dried it at the beverage station. Then I threw it into a ziploc bag in case there were still some drips and tossed it into my bag for the day on my way out to the bus stop. This way I could fill up with water or ice from CS or from the water fountains.

The 2008 mugs are the same design as the 2007 only no date stamped on it.
While we stayed at POR this past Dec. I seen many people using their old POR mugs. It seemed no big deal. I guess they're not going to stop you from using the mugs from the past as long as they're from the resort you are staying at. :confused3 And with the new mugs all the same, well, I'm sure even more people will be doing it.

Just an FYI:

It has been noted that a few CM's are now approaching guests with old mugs.

We witnessed some customers being asked to leave the Beach Club Marketplace because they were using plastic (non WDW) cups at the drink station.

Actually they were asked to leave when they got mouthy with the CMs. The CMs were very nice about asking them not to use the regular plastic cups and pointed out that the drink station was only for those purchasing drinks or using a refillable mug.

The customers got really nasty with the CMs and in the process, it was discovered that they weren't even staying on Disney property! They had left EPCOT and walked to the BC just to get free drinks!

the 2008 ASM don't have the date on them. I purchased one last Feb but it was not the YOAMD 2007 mug, i guess an older style. i do remember a CM question someone about the mug they were using as the design was different. The CM was right at the station doing some refills. For the sake of $12 i will be buying a new one. I don't want to have to hide around. Plus it gives us a souvenir considering we did not get the YOAMD design.

Hi, all. My family of four drove from NJ to WDW. We spent our first night, (6/23) at All Star Music - the Jazz Building. We've never been in a value resort before, and were pleasantly surprised. The room was perfectly adequate for my family. I was expecting a shoe-box with a bed. It really wasn't bad at all. The pool was fun - but crowded. The food court was pretty good, but also kind of crowded. My kids enjoyed the large icons and the other children. They showed Pirates of the Caribbean at night, and that was fun! It really was a pleasant surprise for us.

We checked into the Wilderness Lodge on Sunday, 6/24. We got there around 8:30 a.m. - and SURPRISE - our room was ready. We were given room 6157 - inner courtyard room with bunkbeds and a fabulous view of the pool (and bay lake). We were loving it. Our last trip we had room 6145. We were able to view the fireworks from our balcony. The pool was never overly crowded, and there was always a chair available poolside. The kiddie pool was good for my four-year old - however; he liked the adult pool with the life jacket. Roaring Forks was decent, but always crowded.

They did switch over to the new mug design, and I did see the cashiers approach people using the old design.

I wasn't too fond of the food choices (or lack of). And, my 9-year old son can eat more than 4 little chicken tenders since he is almost five feet tall! So, they should re-evaluate the kids menu.

Whispering Canyon was a fun time! We ate there twice for breakfast and once for dinner. The food was really good, and we had a blast. There was always a boat within 10 minutes of us arriving on the dock. We always managed to miss the bus we needed, but never waited more than 15 minutes for the next one. The biggest problem was trying to leave Epcot at night and having to wait for three busses before we could board.

Funny enough, every time I walked through the halls at the Lodge, I always felt like I was the only one there!

Oh, and I received five towel animals during my stay!

Any ?'s, please ask.

We usually take our coffee with us to a park and rinse it out when we finish it. & put the handle through our camera bag strap. (camera bag has a clip to remove the strap)

That way when we come back to the resort for a mid day break we can fill it with something cold to drink and not have to go back to the room to get it.

I bought one in Jan and it still had the 2007 on it!! Go figure.
I think that's because the Resorts were trying to sell out of the mugs that said 2007. For example last August when the Food & Fun Center at the Contemporary was still open, overnight they switched from the Contemporary mugs to the YOAMD mugs. However on my last night they went back to the Contemporary mugs. I asked how come they switched back and a Cast Member told me they 1st had to sell out of the Contemporary mugs, before they could sell the YOAMD mugs.

It probably holds about 12 or so ounces.

I measured mine (Dis Nerd alert!) -- it holds about 15 ou with lid, 16 without.

While we probably don't consume nearly enough beverages during our stay to justify the cost, they make a very nice souvenir -- we use ours at home from time to time and it touches off great memories!

I think the mug is great value for money, on every stay at a WDW resort we buy a new mug.

When we stayed at Pop last year there were often people using 'old' mugs and some were not even offical disney resort mugs :scared1: ...just a general mug you would buy at Walmart !!!

For $12 I am not going to dodge cast members in fear of being caught.

We used to rinse it after breakfast and put it into a holdall and take it to the park....when we arrived back at Pop we went in and got a refill on the way back to the room.

One time on the day we left we passed them onto a family that have just arrived...just sharing the magic....
