Gary (sorry, I don't know his last name) has created an OKW map identifying smoking and accessible buildings. Thanks, Gary! (and enjoy that GV next week!)

In addition, here is a scan of the current SSR map, provided at check-in at the resort.

Enjoy!

Thanks, Doc-
Hope you are having / had a good trip!

Thanks, our trip was wonderful!!! :)

Unfortunately, we are now back to reality and I have to be back at the office in a few hours.

One note: Please notice that Community Drive (which used to run between Buena Vista Drive and Bonnet Creek Parkway) has been renamed Disney Vacation Club Way. At this time, the only resorts accessed from DVC Way are SSR and OKW!

Enjoy!

Great map of OKW, the best idea I have seen regarding different buildings. Thanks Doc and Gary.

Thanks to Gary and Doc for the maps ! I'm printing out the OKW map to use for future reference.

great map -

it looks like they have really cut down on the smoking rooms - last time I asked there were 5 now only 3 - only one worth staying at (my opinion).

secondly - will our fees go up on them changing the name of the road - I mean at home to get the roads paved you have to add something to the taxes - is this true in Florida? and will this start to come out of member fees or will the taxes just be higher.

because of this road change will the WDW buses (not to mention outside buses) who use this route as a short cut to and from DD be stop from doing so - I mean if members are paying for it????

Okay I know these are questions you can't answer - I doubt WDW can answer - since this change is so new.

Thanks for the map updates.

Now THAT is good news!

I don't think there's any need to worry about paying for the road. The roads are all on Disney owned property and maintained by Disney -- they don't pay any municipailty for upkeep etc. so there aren't any taxes owed for keeping the roads maintained. We do not currently pay Disney for any roads that are not within our particular resort.

It's a nice idea that they've changed the name to reflect the Disney Vacation Club and will probably help with their marketing to have it listed on future WDW maps.

I must be reading the OKW map wrong. Am I to understand that all the rooms in a full 11 of the bulidings at OKW are configured as Handicapped Accessible? That would seem to indicate that one has a very good chance of getting the roll-in shower etc. No flames please..... just that I have young children and NEED the regular bathtub. Hopefully I'm mistaken.

The HA buildings means that there is at least one HA unit in the building -- not that all the units within the building are HA. (Upper floors, with the exception of Building #62-64 can't be handicap accessible because there are no elevators.)

Hi, the map is showing buildings that have those type of units within them, not that the whole building is comprised by those type of units for the most part (I'm assuming that "smoking" buildings are totally "smoking"). When I spoke to MS, they stated that these buildings have HA units in them, not that the whole building was HA. I haven't seen any posts stating how many HA units there are or what the unit numbers are. To get each building configuration, you can look at Doc's ""OKW Building Configuration Summary" thread. Hope this helps!

Thanks!

Gary

Thanks to all. I thought that all those HA rooms would be a a bit excessive !!

Hi GDUL. Many thanks for map - it's a really good idea.

(I'm assuming you are THE Gary. If not, I'll just go red now! :o ;))

Hi, no need to turn red (LOL) - I am the person who came up with that map. I was playing around with some new software and decided to apply it to the OKW map. I wanted to use it for planning our trip to WDW (starting this Saturday - Yeah!!!). We're renting a Grand Villa and bringing a lot of my family - many of whom haven't been to WDW before and I wanted to show them what OKW had to offer. It seemed to help in our planning and I thought that it might prove useful for others. Doc was kind enough to look at it and post it here (Thanks Doc!).

Thank goodness - so no need for me to re-register with a new identity then. :teeth:

Have a great trip.

Thanks for the map, I feel a little better about the parking now. Still wondering if there is a menu for the meals at The Artist's Palette, I guess that will have to wait.
