If you got to be in charge of resort refurbs.... what kind of stuff would you do? It could be as small of a change as a "bedspreads and drapes" idea all the way to knocking down or retheming an entire resort or just somewhere in the middle like suggesting an idea for a pool area.... just have fun... no right or wrong answers! :cutie:

For me I've got tons of ideas... but here's a couple for now...

like fixing my all time peeve of imagineering... retheming those dull Grand Floridian rooms back to the "story" rooms (and much nicer of course). What were they thinking? I also think that the main large pool in the courtyard could be a little more spruced. It just needs a Disney touch. like checkerboard tiles around the sides or something and a "stained glass" bottom... IDK it's just boring and it's odd that Disney sometimes misses a beat....

Another one of my ideas is pretty insane... a total overhaul of the All Stars... I think they're cute and basically the classic value resorts for Disney's heydeys of bringing the crowds in by the thousands... but with the new AoA coming it just seems that they need to catch up with the times. I was thinking.... why not move or even remove some of those parking lots and really get creative with some courtyards or even some "higher level accomodations" buildings. There would be endless ideas for themes for the buildings.... I'd even have one giant icon that looked like the MM Clubhouse.... there's just not enough Mickey and friends.... there's never enough! :wizard:

The Polynesian just seems like it should be more of a fantasy to me... like a sweet water and island paradise. The volcano pool is just so small it seems like it shouldn't be the only "cool" pool or it should be bigger.... definately needs a lazy river to another awesome "island" with bouncy sand ground and palm trees.... that lazy rivers of course back to the volcano pool. :cloud9: I also think that the rooms should have a more classy bedding that you can't find anywhere but here... like a hawaiian look but embroidered or raised Disney characters or even Mickey heads placed tastefully in the pattern.

More ideas to come... but for now I have to slow down my brain... it's racing with them! :wizard:

Add on a quick service place to AKV kidani. Expand the OKW quick service, or even just put another one in somewhere else in the resort, even if its not near the hospitality house, actually that may really be better as then everyone would have one closer to their room.

Fix BWV so that they have a place where you can get mugs refilled without going outside. Not sure if the best way to do that would be to add entrances to the stores and places from inside the resort or build a new one... I kind of prefer a way to get into the stores from the inside of the resort!!

Umm that is about it. Teh first two are most important since those are my favorite resorts so far and I love everything about them except the quick service thing.

Oh and add more buses so no resorts share. That will fix Jambo house for me (I hate the buses arriving full)

I wish that the values, specifically POP since I was there last week, had better sound control. The walls & floors seem paper thin. I didn't like that I could actually hear my upstairs neighbor urinating while I was trying to get ready for dinner......

Also they need to figure out why there is a constant clanging from the pipes. I have had to close the bathroom door so I didn't have to hear it while I was trying to sleep.

Those are on the forefront of my brain because of my trip last week, I am sure I have more in my head.....

I'd like to see a value family suite room with BEDS in both sleeping areas. Lots of adults with teens, or lots of groups of 4 friends would love to stay there, but - who among them wants to sleep on the pull-outs????!!!!

ADULTS with their adult bodies like to go to Disney - especially in groups of 3 and 4. We would LOVE to stay in a family suite. Do they really think that a 65 year old or a 72 year old wants to sleep on pull-out furniture?!?!

If the suites existed with the proposed BEDS, I think more people would stay in them. :goodvibes

I'd like to see the Contemporary become futuristic again. I don't mind the look of the rooms at all, but would love to see them incorporate cutting-edge functionality that you don't see anywhere else. You know, little details that make you go "wow!"

I would love it if they lightened up the rooms at the Poly. White duvets would make a world of difference without compromising the Polynesian theme. The pool & surrounding area should be expanded -- way too popular to be the size it is.

Wilderness Lodge is allegedly up for a refurb in 2012, and I'm curious to see what they do. The rooms felt dated, small & dark to me. It's a "deluxe" resort, and the rooms should reflect that.

At all the deluxes, I wish there were a separate waiting area for the restaurants (something beyond the small alcoves some have now). The lobbies get so crowded & noisy with all the people waiting to eat -- it really detracts from the resort experience.

Oh, and spacious balcony (or patio) for *every* room. And I agree with the thicker walls comment! (Though this is an issue at just about every hotel we've stayed at; not just Disney.)

Please bring back adult pools that are deep. Three feet doesn't cut it!!:rotfl2::rotfl2: Maybe just an adult resort?? No offense kids, but it might be nice for those who don't have any, but just want a different experience at the resort but still just love Disney?? Just trying to keep it fresh!

In addition, please have hot tubs at ALL RESORTS. Can't believe the Poly doesn't have one!:banana: And, of course make them huge, so more than 5 people can fit in. CSR is nicely themed. GF is nice, but boring.

DS23 prefers to do recreational things. Please include more to do at the resorts. He can't wait to do the boats. I think everyone at Disney just loves the water mouse!! He really enjoyed jogging through the campground to WL.

Would also love to see resort playlands like Main Street. (Remember the Little People your kids played with when they were small?) Great for all those little minds thinking about engineering!! Could be future employees!

Would love to see monorails connect to all resorts and parks. How cool would that be! Oh well, I can dream and it might as well be big!:wizard::wizard:

Great thread OP. This is what keeps us coming back. Thanks and Merry Christmas. Can't wait to see the decorations, lights etc. Kids don't know where we art staying so even better. Hope Santa and Disney is good to all.
:santa::santa::yay::yay::wizard::wizard:

I'm back... with more ideas, too! :cutie: I love thinking of ideas that Disney should use.... I mean no idea is a bad idea.... some people think that the monorail will never expand or the Magic Kingdom would never have all of the princesses castles..... oh wait... see? (Few years back my Hubby thought that would be cool and I thought he was crazy... :) ) Anything can happen cuz it's Disney!

I love the ideas a PP poster had with Contemporary and WL... yes Contemporary was on my mind too and oh boy it's a doosey... now don't get mad.... a while back there was someone who said that the Mary Blair mural has got to go... the thread was http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2438003&highlight
... and I agreed to a certain extent. I would love to see more "glass house" and unconventionality at the CR along with some character theming in the resort rooms. You know that giant metal Mickey in the concourse? Make some wall or table lamps look like it in the room... it's not hard! I mean if anyone had 3 circles... :wizard: I love the headboards at the DL resort in California.... they'd look good here!

As for WL... love love love this resort and no one else in my family does because the rooms are so bland and there is not much as far as distinguishing from every other "Wilderness Lodge". It's DISNEY's WL and again with the character theming (I'm all over this) it should be present at EVERY resort. My ideas would go with soft quilted bed spreads with a satin trim border where you would find Snow White, Bambi, Thumper, Chip and Dale and other "Forest" Disney friends on that and a select few of the quilt patches. A quiet spring green on the walls with a painting of a forest with a cottage in a "7 Dwarves" style carved frame... doesn't that sound nice?

I'll be back with more....

This one is for all resorts... sunbathing chairs made of plastic strips.... me no likey...

Here's one on behalf of my hubby who said in so many words :confused3 ... the monorail seems like it is the ultimate in transportation until you find out a) you have to be staying at either the Poly, GF or CR to have true access from your resort. b) It really only goes to MK or the TTC. (insert hubby sayin  here) Once at TTC you then exchange for an EPCOT mono and proceed. :worried: This is best case scenario... He was thinking of staying at BC or BWI and skipping on the buses ... :teacher: first make sure you have park hoppers, then walk or boat to IG... I am not going to type all this and only a few out there would know what I mean by "consult Robo". :sad2: Seriously if the mono can't go everywhere it would be nice to at least have a nice way of getting around from MK to EP to DHS for all those on that route. (Even though I'd LOVE to get lost in Disney:lovestruc )

On the "bedspread and drapes" end of the spectrum, I'd change the blinds at OKW back to the old style. The new ones (installed during last year's renovations) are nearly impossible to work since the blinds themselves block the controls.

On the far other end, I'd blow up the Swolphin and build new ones that are more in keeping with the overall theme of the area and don't visually intrude into Epcot.
