Resort IDs

Just a quick question about the resort ids~ How do they work? Do they have picture id on them, and are they scanned at various locations around the resort like the work out facilities and the pool? Also, to receive wristbands for EMH do you have to present photo id as well or is the resort id all that is necessary to carry into the park? Thanks for your help!

No they dont have your photo on them yet. However you do have a scan of your fingers once you have gone into the park. So that is kind of all the id they need I would think.

They have the name of the person who the reservation is under as well as the dates of your stay. They also have a magnetic strip on the back just like a credit card, so if you have authorized charging on it, anywhere you use it they just swipe it like they would a credit card.

As of 1/2/05, the cards have each individual's name on them. The front desk recommends you sign the cards there. Anytime you make a purchase, the cm compares the signatures (Disney cm's are pretty careful about this).

When I went to EMH on 3/2, they did not compare photo ID's to the room keys, although I have heard that they may do that.

Sorry, my mistake... I was last there on 12/5/04, and both of our cards had my name on them since I was the one who made the reservation. I'm glad they made the switch to each individual person's name... it makes more sense!

I don't believe there are any pools where they scan your resort ID. As for workout facilities... not sure, I never used them (shame on me!) At many non-disney hotels you need to use your room key to open the door to the workout facility... so that may be the case at Disney too... just not sure.
