Resort Id questions

Can anyone explain to me how the resort ID's work? Is it a separate card that you get when you check in or is it just your room key? I am curious mostly about how it works with the EMH's...do they just look at your 'ID' or swipe it through something. From what I understand, you get a wristband to stay in late or get in early that you show to get in shows or on rides?

If you're staying at a Disney resort hotel, then you get a single Key to the World card. This card is your resort room key as well as your tickets to the park, assuming you're getting tickets with your stay. When you show up for EMH, you simply use it as your ticket and the computer will know that you are entitled to EMH as a resort guest.

If for some reason you have a "room only" stay and are using tickets (perhaps you got them earlier and they are non-expiring, so you want to use them up), then you would have to show your current resort room key (a plastic resort key card) along with the ticket to gain entry during EMH.

For morning EMH, you don't need a wrist band as the only ones who can enter are Disney resort guests. For the evening one, they give out wrist bands because they don't actually clear out the park. Non-resort guest can still stay and walk around, but only people with wrist bands are permitted on the rides, etc.

Hope this helps! :)

It is your room key, dining credits if applicable, and your resort ID, and your tickets. Everyone on your reservation gets their own card, if you put a credit card on your room, you can designate certain people to have charging privelges. To get your EMH evening bracelets you just show them to the CM and you will get your bracelets. You will also use them to get your fastpasses.

We are staying at the resort for 7 nights and it is separate from everything else, our passes and dining. We are most likely staying at the Dolphin, which is one of the reasons I am concerned, because I know that the resort perks are different there than elsewhere.

So, if I understand correctly, we will just have to use our park passes like normal and show our room keys at the same time?

Hello, I will be staying onsite for the first time. It will be myself and DS age 10. We have invited a friend along and her son same age. Can son and I alone have charging privelages?

The room is in my name...

Thank you Trekker...I have a question though, is there a certain amount of times you can use your resort ID to get wristbands or is it unlimited? Does each member of the group need to be present or could one person go collect the bands with the passes and resort ID's?

CharleyAnn: You can control which cards have charging privileges. :) Just tell them when you're checking in who gets to do what with their cards.

MickeysFan: You get the wrist bands once you're in the park, so everyone should be there with his/her card to get a wrist band. I would say that each person has to be there to get the band because the CM actually attaches it to your wrist. But I don't know for sure if they will hand out bands based on how many resort cards you have.

You can use your card to get wrist bands for every night that has Extra Magic Hours and you want to attend. You can check out the Disney World web site, which posts which parks have Extra Morning Hours on which days, so you can plan ahead. Have fun!

One more quick question...the UOG says that the resort ID's are "swiped," so is it a kiosk or something that you visit? Or do the resort ID's only get swiped when they are also the park ticket, which it won't be for us. I am just wondering if each guests ID has to be swiped, does a line form and cause crowding in the park with the pm EMH's.

We haven't been since 2004, are the park passes still the same as they were or have there been changes?

They have "stations" in the park where they swipe the room keys and put the wristbands on. I did AK evening EMH in April, there was one to the right of the entrance just inside the park. There are several in the park, if there's a line you can move to another one. They only swipe room keys, regardless of what ticket type you are using.

Wristband locations are listed here:

The use a hand-held wireless device. This means it can be done wherever they want to do it -- it doesn't have to be at a certain building or kiosk or anything like that.

Many times there are lines for EMH wristbands, but I've never waited in a LONG line for them.

And to answer an earlier question, I am 100% sure that they will NOT hand over a bunch of wristbands. They make a point of putting it on each person's wrist. Unlike with FASTPASSes, you can't have one person designated to grab everyone's cards and get the things for the group. Forgive the sexist-sounding remark, but it's every man for himself.

We stay at the Swan so I know what you mean. Don't worry. To get the wristband for EMH each member of the party goes up to the CM and shows their room key and he/she will get the wristband. The CM's are based in different areas of the park so don't worry. Sometimes they can be in one central location but there could be about 5 ot 6 CM's so there never is a long line.:)

One person cannot collect wristbands for the rest of the party. Matter of fact, the CM's don't hand you the wristband but they actually put it on you so you can't transfer it to someone else.

Thanks so much, that cleared up all the questions I had about this topic! One down, a million to go...:lmao:

now I just have to decide if it's worth using the EMH, I keep hearing that even as a resort guest you should avoid the parks with EMH that day

That can be true at times. Matter of fact, we enjoy the EMH in the mornings more than the evenings because we can get major rides done by noon by doing it in the morning. But if you do EMH in the morning get there right for the start because alot of guests are not there first thing in the am. since it's so early. At times once EMH starts in the evenings is when we'll decide to park hop because usually the other parks will be less crowded. :flower:

As far as attending the EMH, if you can get to the park for the start of the morning EMH it is definitely worthwhile esp at the MK. But if you're going to show up 45 minutes into the EMH, don't bother & pick a different park. As far as the evening ones go, we have done the MK one & had a great time & got a lot done actually rode Space Mt faster than with a FP during the day. If you really enjoy the Studios, I wd consider that one as well.(We don't because we never do RNRC or TOT)
