We're going to Disney in late nov/early Dec and have read that the decorations at the resorts are a must-see.
We're staying at Music and Animal Kingdom Lodge:

1. What is the easiest way to go to these resorts? We do plan on renting a car - would that be the easiest or using the Disney transportation?

2. Will we have any problems going to any of these resorts just to see decorations? Do I need to make dinner PS in order to be allowed on the resort?

This is our first time staying at a resort so we need all the help we can get -

Thanks

You chosen a very special time to visit WDW. It's by far our favorite time of the year to go and resort hopping to see the decorations is lots of fun!

Disney transportation is focused on getting people to the parks. Using it to travel between resorts can be frustrating and time-consuming. Driving is definitely the way to go when visiting the resorts. You should not have any trouble getting into the resorts to see the decorations and a PS is not needed. But some of the resort restaurants are worth a trip all by themselves, so if you have the time, go ahead and make a PS or two. It'll make the experience even more magical.

Enjoy your trip!

You can visit any resort without a PS (except possibly AKL but you will be staying there) although you may face a three hour time limit for parking at one of the MK monorail resorts. It is best to use a car and do resorts by clusters. For example, park at one of the MK monorail resorts and then use monorail to see the three there; likewise for Epcot resort park at BW or YC/BC and then walk around the three there (BWI/BWV, YC/BC, Swan/Dolphin). for those MK monorail and Epcot resorts, you can get by without driving by just going to them on a day you visit the applicable park--MK for the monorail resorts, Epcot or MGM for the Epcot resorts. If you drive to WL, you can take direct bus or even walk to FW and back. As to any others you will need to drive to each separately unless you enjoy extrememly long bus rides and switching busses to get somewhere.

I agree that the easiest way to get from resort to resort is to use your own transportation. Last week we had no problems visiting other resorts for a meal, to shop, whatever. There are signs up at some resorts like the Beach Club that specifically say they apologize, but they cannot provide parking for guests visiting EPCOT or the Studios. The time you are going to WDW is wonderful for getting into the Christmas holiday spirit! Enjoy!
