Which resorts would you go out of your way to check out and possibly grab a meal at

The Polynesian. I love the Kona Cafe, especially for breakfast. Also, The Contemporary. Love the California Grill. I also think the Grand Floridian Cafe is a hidden gem.

Animal Kingdom Lodge (any of the TS, we particularly like Sanaa), Polynesian (Kona is good, O'hana is a lot of fun!), Boardwalk (Trattoria al Forno is good and the entertainment and games on the Boardwalk are a lot of fun!)

That's our plan on arrival day for our next trip, ride the monorail around and visit the other loop resorts.

If you have kids that have a particular favorite movie that isn't well represented in the parks you might hop to a resort that features them. I have heard of Cars fans heading to AoA to see their nice Cars themed area since there isn't much in the parks. There is also the campfire sing-a-long at Fort Wilderness featuring Chip and Dale.

I think all of them are worth visiting and I have gone out of my way to do so. Having said that, I wouldn't want to miss AKL or GF. I love to stay at YC but by far AKL and GF are my favorites to just walk around.

Grand Floridian, Animal Kingdom Lodge, and Wilderness Lodge are the most interesting visually and thematically.

These are the ones that we typically do on every trip or every other trip.

Yacht Club- Yachtsman Steakhouse
Animal Kingdom- Sanaa
Contemporary- Cali Grill
Poly- Luau
Fort Wilderness- Hoop Dee Doo

Definetly any that you have any little feeling that you may want to stay there sometime.

The most convenient and ones I love to do are:
-Monorail tour: Gflo, Poly & Contemp. Bonus points if you boat over to Wilderness Lodge, we usually do this as a monorail pub crawl and then end the night with Hoop Dee Doo over at Fort Wildnerness. If not, it's worthwhile to get apps & a drink at the California Grill lounge (or do a full meal). Ohana has DELICIOUS food(breakfast and dinner), the GFlo Cafe is super cute, good food & service for a good price. 1900 PF is one of my favorite character dinners. It's super easy to tour all the resorts before or after an ADR, we like to plan it on a "rest" day or on arrival day.
-Boardwalk area tour: this one I'll usually only do if we have a meal over there, ex: Yachtsman, Mom & I left Epcot and wandered through the resorts before our ADR to check things out, but I usually don't spend too much time over there unless we have a reason to go over.
-AKL: AMAZING, heck, I'll take the time to go over there to just eat at the QS Mara. However, Boma & Sanaa are both incredible restaurants too!

We visited Art of Animation and Pop Century and really enjoyed seeing what they looked like. We had never been to a value resort before. We were very impressed with AoA and we had a good lunch at Pop's food court. We were even able to use our TiW card for a discount. :)

We also enjoyed touring Coronado Springs. It is fun to check out all of the resorts at least once, except maybe the All Stars. I'm guessing that they are similar to Pop except with different gigantic icons.
