resort hopping/what do you do?

so what exactly do you do when you resort hop?
Do you just stroll around the resort or is there something specific that people do or look for when hopping to check out resorts?

We mostly looked around.
Once, at CR my ds wore his swimming costume so he could enjoy the splash area as we walked through (it was empty)
And once, he did an activity at AKL which earnt him a bead....

According to which resorts. Monorail resorts we tend to look around the shops, maybe catch lunch at the Poly qs. Epcot resorts, walk around all the lobby areas, browse the shops and walk around the lake visiting all three resorts. Moderates, I normally visit checking out to see if I'd be interested in staying there so I look at the lobby and see the interaction with the guests, check out the food courts and walk around the buildings outside to gauge the distance and look at the pool area.

When we do it next year, it will be mostly looking around. We're planning on getting a snack at the monorail resorts and take the ferry over to WL to check it out. Then, over to FW for dinner at Trail's End and maybe a wagon ride or Chip & Dale campfire at the end of the evening. I may reverse it and schedule the horseback riding in the morning at FW...just depends. You can stroll through the horse barn and they have pony rides for the smaller kids.

The evenings at most resorts, if not all, have marshmallow roasts and outdoor movies. There are arcades. AKL has cultural programs as well as animal viewing. Poly has the torch lighting ceremony and dancing. The options depend on where you're going and what time of day.

We have resort hopped many times. We walk around, eat lunch and at a few have gone to the desk and asked if someone could show us an empty room. They have always done this. After, we just tip the person who showed us the room.

We've actually never done this, but we are here in a few months for the Christmas decorations. We'll probably just grab a snack or fill our mugs while in the resort area.

We are doing this for the first time next month when we go for a quick 2 night stay so we can book the FD bounceback. We plan on visiting Poly because I have always wanted to see it. We will have breakfast at the QS place so we can try the famous Tonga Toast. Then we will head over to CBR and CS to check them out because we plan to stay at one of them next year for our "real" vacation. We will check out the pool, food court and maybe try to peek into a room.

We like to walk around the EPCOT resorts and stop by each lobby for a drink and shopping. We also like to hit the Monorail hotels for the same thing.
