Resort Hopping - Off the loop

What are some of the neat resorts to visit if you have a few hours waiting for check in? We've done the monorail loop and WL at Christmas. Having lunch at AKL another day, so that's covered. What are some of the others that are worth a visit? Going without kids in October. Expecting to have a couple of late morning hours to kill.

I would check out the Epcot resorts. We always take a walk around the Boardwalk, check out the shops and wander through the resorts. I love this are in the evening, but somehow we still manage to find our way here during the day.

Just as a point of clarification. You do not need to wait for check in. You can check into your resort as early as 6 AM. It is likely your room won't be ready. But you can leave your luggage with Bell Services/Luggage Assistance and head off. You are a resort guest from that moment on and can use all the amenities of your resort including the pools if you wish.

I agree with @Nancyg56. I would check out the Epcot Area resorts if you want to explore. With the Boardwalk Inn, Swan & Dolphin, and Yacht and Beach Clubs all within walking distance of each other there is a lot to explore

AoA and the POP would be great. If you have never seen AoA it is amazing.

POR is nice to walk around and you can enjoy walking by the lake to POFQ and check that resort out as well! If you have even more time, you can take the watercraft over to Disney Springs and either walk around there and get a bite to eat or just stay on the boat and ride back to POR-
We went to all the resorts on a no-kids trip (we had a car)..looked at all the Christmas decorations and had a great time!
