My family is going in Dec for 8 days. I have a 2 year old and will need certain supplies for her such as fruit and milk to keep in the room. With 7 adults and 1 toddler, we figure we will want bottled water and sodas for the room as well as other snacks to save money. Originally we had decided that one group would do a grocery stop and buy for the whole group on the way from the airport. We are arriving from 3 different places. However our plans have changed slightly and now we will be switching resorts after the first night.

For those of you that resort hop, do you do a grocery stop and somehow move the food or do you use a service that delivers? If you use a service, which one?

Also with your lugguage do you move via taxi with your lugguage or let Disney transport everything? My mom has read about lost luggage, etc. and wanted your experiences.

We usually do the grocery stop, and we take a soft sided collapsable insulated cooler in one of our suitcases, and also some ziplock bags. If our room isn't ready when we arrive, we get the cooler out of the bag, go fill it with ice and ice down the item that need it. The same thing when transferring resorts.

We have always let Disney transfer our luggage for us in the past, and always without incident, but this time we have decided to transfer by cab and take our luggage with us. Just less room for error, and besides, if we need to access something in the luggage during the day, we will know where it is.

If you will have perishables, move them yourself.

The way the luggage is moved is this:

They tag all the lyuggage for transfer, and around 2:00pm load it all in a truck that goes from resort to resort in a loop until it's all transferred. Things can get missed, and things sit in that truck for up to three hours.

I'm one of the ones that had my luggage lost by WDW when having them transfer it. I'll never go through that again, it's definitely worth the cab fare to KNOW that you left it at your resort, instead of not knowing where in 47 square miles it might be.
