my husband and i are starting to plan a january vacation. with no kids:yay: !!!! but we are torn on where to stay. we always stay moderate because with the kids we dont spend much time in the room.but this time, we are staying deluxe.
so our choices have been CR,Poly or BW. this morning my husband jokingly says why dont we do 2 nights at each. but after some though....well, why dont we?
i know the resort will transfer our luggage for us. but is it really too much work? is it crazy to contemplate this? will we have to make 3 seperate vacation packages?

its my husbands birthday and i dont know when we will ever go alone again, so we want to get the most out of it.
thanks!

We usually do split-stays, but make sure we stay a minimum of 3-4 days at each resort. It's alot of moving to do to stay at 3 places in 6 days -- if it were me, I'd do 2 places, 3 days. That way you get a chance to really experience a resort before it's moving day again. (Since CR and Poly are next door to each other, you could stay at one and then tour/dine at the other). It's nice to spend time on the monorail, and also time at the Boardwalk area by Epcot!

BTW, you are right -- moving around is much easier to do without the kiddies! (no worries about naptimes being ruined, bedtimes, etc.).

Whatever you choose, have a wonderful vacation!:)

Honestly, I don't think I would want to be packing up everything and leaving and rechecking in everyother day. It would waste time in my opinion. You could stay in one and visit the others and even more than you suggested. I did the split stay years ago at the CR and Poly and even though our luggage was moved, it seemed the day was wasted and we had 4 nights each. Just my thoughts.

maybe 2 would be a better idea, but its hard to choose.
as far as packing up, i think we'll just stay packed. we're very simple people while on vaca, so just a shower and changing clothes is all we need. i think its the kids that make the mess, i think.

Remember, you can be "homeless" for several hours between checking out of one resort and into the next one. Not an issue if you'll be in the parks. But it might weight your decision to split a six-day visit between two or three resorts.

We have done crazy split stays in the past, once staying 4 different spots in 7 nights, but it's not my preference. I like to spend more time at the hotel and with the early check out and late check in that Disney has at their hotels, you won't get much time AT the resort with only 2 nights.

It's not really much work, if you're staying deluxe with bell services and don't unpack much anyways, you just won't have as much time to explore the resort as you would in a longer stay.

We've done split stays many times, but always for a specific reason (i.e., couldn't get all nights at same resort, didn't have enough DVC points for entire stay, etc.). Disney does make it easy for you.

But it is still kind of a pain and I wouldn't move more than once. You have to pack all your stuff up, you can't get into your 2nd resort until after 4 (sometimes)....I think it is easier to just pick one and stay there the entire time. You can get settled and enjoy your time.

We are DVC owners at BWV, so that would be my recommendation ;) . Poly as 2nd choice. There is a lot to do right in the BW area which is really nice.

Enjoy your trip!

I personally don't like split stays. We are doing one in Dec only because we couldn't get all 11 nights at any of our choices. We will be in one resort 5 nights and the other 6 nights. I keep calling to see if anything opens up at either one for the entire stay. I like to unpack everything and settle in for the duration. We always stock up the fridge with soda & water. I think it is a pain to unpack pack and unpack again. Plus, I don't like being without a room from morning until late afternoon or early evening. Many say their rooms were available when they checked into the 2nd resort but we have never been lucky enough to have an early check in and we go during value season when it is supposed to be slower. Others love split stays and say it feels like 2 vacations. Have fun whatever you decide to do.

You would need to make three separate reservations with three separate reservation numbers.

On a technical note, you would be very very unwise to book each of them as a PACKAGE. You would want to make the second and third reservations as ROOM-ONLY reservations. Why? A package includes park tickets, and a room-only reservation does not have to include a park ticket purchase.

For your first resort stay, whether you book it as a package or a room-only, buy a 6-day park ticket for each of you, at a cost of about $231 each (for base tickets). You can use these tickets no matter what resort you are staying at (that is, you will take them with you after you check out of the first resort, etc.). If you buy separate 2-day tickets at each of the three resorts ... that'll cost about $148 per 2-day ticket, or about $444 per person.

So you could buy 6 park days for $231, or 6 park days for $444. This is why you'd need to avoid booking a PACKAGE for your second and third resorts during this three-resort trip.

we did a split stay last year. we went for 10 days (me, dh and ds(5)) and we did 5 days at por and 5 days at the poly. it was great!!!! the day we moved over to the poly we packed up and spent they day resort hopping. we went and had lunch at the pop century, then we went over to the all stars and checked out those resorts and then we made our way over to wilderness lodge and checked that place out. it was really a nice day. then by the time we got to the poly it was time to check in. we did dinner and the pool and we refreshed for the parks the next day.
no this is just my opinion, but i would do 2 resorts if i were you. i think 3 might be too many to switch around. whatever you decide have a great vacation and enjoy!

I have done that before. I never upack fully, just live out of the suitcase so paking is not an issuse. I rent a car so the luggage goes right in the trunk untill we get checked in to the next Hotel. I only did the 2 nights each for 3 hotels, AK, Poly then last BWI I didn't mind it at all. Have fun no matter what you do :)

now I like to change resort - but am single and go to the parks (annual pass) or stay at the resort and catch up on my writing/reading.

it is up to you - but 3 resorts in 6 days is a little much.

doing 3 resorts this time.

ssr - 7 days - akv - one night - pop - 6 nights.

mostly would do 5 days in one resort or at least 4 - then change.

now if you want the dinning plan added - then pick one resort.

with the dinning plan you have to get the tickets with each change - and that is expensive.

if you only want the tickets then do what CleveRocks suggest.

wil you have a car?

ahh, mkaes sense. i hadnt put much thought into any of it when i posted. its all still up in the air. the idea sounds fun, but the more i think about it, im just not so sure. but then i still cant pick a resort.....ahhh choices:confused:

3 changes in 6 nights might be too much. If you don't mind being ready to move every other day it will be fine. I would go with 3 nights each at 2 resorts. Either way, it's nice to even have the option of thinking about it. Have a great time!!!

yes, we always rent a car

then would take my stuff with me.

yes, the bell service is great -but if you need something that you packed - well you have to get a room first, then sometimes the luggage is not delivered until 3 or 4 pm.

so take it with you - that makes it easier.

for the resorts would go with Polyn and BWV - then you get the best of the MK resorts and the second best at Epcot (like BCV better)

would go each for 3 days - okay no I won't would do Polyn 4 nights and BW 2 nights. but that is because love wishes!!!! like illiuinations - but love wishes!
