Resort hopping from the fort

We are taking a day to board the monorail and hop to all the resorts on bay lake, then monorail over to Epcot and walk over to Boardwalk area resorts. It appears that we can get to all of the resorts we've wanted to visit by not having to use a bus... except Animal Kingdom Lodge. Does anyone know of any combination of transport that doesn't include the bus, where we can get to AKL?

I would suggest:
Boat to Contemporary, then monorail to Poly & GF, get off at MK, take bus to AK Lodge, bus back to MK, then boat back to the Fort. Usually when we do the 'grand tour' with new people, we walk from Poly to GF and check out the wedding pavillion on the way.

This is exactly how we like to do "resort day"..we also like the monorail and then strolling through all the Epcot resorts. But if you have never been to AKL....you really should check it out. We like to go at night and view the animals with the night vision glasses! Also...great food at Boma.

Just remember that if you take the monorail to Epcot, you will need to use an admission to get to the resorts--they are at the International Gateway entrance, not the monorail entrance--you have to walk thru the park to get to them. Thought I'd mention it in case you need to count your park admissions.
Have a good time! And like others have said, AKL is really worth going to, even if you have to take a bus.

Actually, once we arrive in the World, we always take Disney transportation. Some of our most memorable moments have been on a bus ride! And I mean that in a good way.
Besides, my dad was a bus driver for a living, so you won't get grief from me.

I could be wrong, but doesn't the Monorail go around Seven Seas Lagoon? Bay Lake has FW, WL and Contemporary all accessible by boat.

OH NO... I did not know this. I have really been given some wrong information from a friend who said she got off at Epcot, but bypassed Epcot to get to the Boardwalk... not using a park ticket. Is this not true? Yikes, I thought the Boardwalk was like Downtown Disney where you didn't need a park ticket to enter. If we took the bus to these resorts or to boardwalk... we wouldn't need a ticket? I'm going to have to re-think our resort hopping day. We were hoping to avoid busses.... not that we don't like them, but my DD gets car sick on the busses.

I asked about resort hopping from FW a few months ago and someone posted this as reply:

Left Fort Wilderness on the boat to Wilderness Lodge. Then the boat to Contemporary. Then the monorail to Polynesian. Then the monorail to Grand Floridian. Then the monorail to Epcot. Then a bus to Animal Kingdom Lodge. Then a bus to DHS. Then a boat to all the Boardwalk area resorts. Then a bus to MK. Then a boat back to Fort Wilderness. (I think I'm recalling correctly) It was a great, inexpensive, relaxing (although a lot of walking but we needed the exercise!) way to spend a free day. And I saw resorts I'd always wanted to see.

I'm sorry I didn't record who posted this. I just saved it in my WDW word doc. I haven't tried it yet, but hope to in November.

You do not need a pass to wander around Lagoon area between Epcot and Hollywood Studios - however, you cannot access it from the monorail without entering Epcot.

What you can do is this (to get a boat ride and/or monorail into the mix, and not just a bus ride, which you could do straight from FW to MGM.)

Take the boat from FW to Contemporary, then to TTC. Take the Monorail to Epcot from TTC, then take the bus to MGM, or the any of Boardwalk/Swan/Dolphin/Yacht Club.

or

Take the Boat to Magic Kingtom from FW, take a bus to any of Boardwalk/Swan/Dolphin/Yacht Club/MGM.

Someone may come up with a less convoluted way, but those are the ways that I see off the top of my head.

You can also just take the bus Hollywood studios and then board the boat that stops at swan and dolphin, boardwalk, and Epcot. Doesn't get you on the monorail, but it works. Or like was said, take the boat to The Contemporary, etc.

wow... I'm so glad I asked this because I had us going all kinds of wrong ways. One thing I read... you can take a boat from FW to Contemporary? I had no idea... I thought you had to take the boat to MK and board the monorail. Anyway... my plans are now to board the bus and head over to AKL then bus over to Board Walk then back to start the seven seas lagoon looping. Do you guys recommend busing back to FW, boat to Contemporary and do the loop with monorail OR busing to MK and taking the monorail to contemporary and others? Also, would AKL be better in the morning or at dark? Thanks a lot for the info. It has really helped.

huh... okay, so I can take a bus from MK to AKL. Can you take a bus from AKL to Boardwalk? Is there a bus route from FW to Boardwalk? I think I saw that as a transportation option on the Disney site, but it is confusing.

Here is what I would do.

If you want to do AKL first, then here is what I would do.

Bus to Animal Kingdom from the Outpost. Go fairly early, 7:30amish. Tell the driver you are having breakfast at Boma. They most likely will be able to take you there directly. If not, transfer to the AKL bus. Have breakfast at Boma, then enjoy the animals on the Savanah.

From AKL take the bus to the Studios, tour the Boardwalk, Swan, Dolphin, Yacht, and Beach Club. Stroll through Epcot, then take the monorail to the TTC, then take the monorail around to the Poly, Grand, Contemporary, then take the boat back to Fort Wilderness from the Contemporary. You can also stop at Wilderness Lodge from the same boat before heading back to the Fort.

If you don't want to use a park ticket at all, then go back to the Studios after touring the Epcot resorts and take a bus from the Studios to the Contemporary.
