Ok here's what I'd like to do - I want to spend the 1st half of the day on the monorail visiting those 4 resorts and seeing the gingerbread house etc, then somehow get on the skyliner for the second half of the day and end at epcot boardwalk for dinner, all the games and performers, and see the fireworks... we are not staying at any resort, I was planning on parking at Disney springs and taking a bus to wherever.... how do I make this happen? We will be eating meals along the way at some of the places.... tia!

What you have planned is exactly right. Go to Disney Springs and park there. Take a bus to one of the monorail resorts. To move between them take the monorail or for a change, you can walk or take a boat between Poly and GF.

Once you have completed the 3 monorail resorts, go to the MK and take a bus to one of the Skyliner resorts. After you complete your Skyliner run, take a bus from whichever resort you end at back to Disney Springs.

So, a bus from MK to Pop or AoA is how you get from the monorail loop to the far end of the skyliner.

If it were me, I'd
a) bus from Springs to Wilderness Lodge (not on your list but a can't miss if you're doing a Christmas decoration tour )

b) blue route boat from the Lodge to the Contemporary

c) make your way around the monorail loop before ending at MK

d) bus to Pop or AoA if you want to see those decorations . Otherwise, bus to Riviera to see those.

e) skyliner to International Gateway, tour the Crescent Lake hotels

f) bus to Springs from whichever hotel you end at (probably Beach Club if you're watching fireworks on the bridge)

Just to add that the boardwalk is NOT a happening place. What it could/should be versus reality is a huge difference. Just stating that if it changes how much weight/time you give to that segment. 10 minutes and your done. Restaurants are good though.

The first buses from resorts to DS in the morning generally start around 9:30am, so the return buses to the resorts should start shortly after. As long as you didn’t want to start your day really early, your plan is sound. There are only three resorts on the monorail route. You’d need to stop at MK and take the boat or bus to get to WL (I’m assuming that’s your fourth?). You can grab a bus to HS there and get on the skyliner as the entrance is before the turnstiles for the park.

How do I get to MK? Monorail from a resort? Can I bus from MK to wilderness lodge resort? That one is a skyliner one, yes? I've heard wilderness is a must see and seems like a good starting point for skyliner?

Yes, the Resort loop monorail stops at Poly, GF, MK, CR, then TTC and back to Poly. So from DS you can bus to Poly, GF or CR and ride the monorail around to each of the others, then to MK.

No, WL is not on the Skyliner. From MK, you can take a boat or a bus to WL.

For the Skyliner, you need to go to MK and take a bus to Pop, AoA, CBR or Riviera. Or you can bus from MK to DHS and take the Skyliner from there. There are three lines for the Skyliner, one goes between DHS and CBR, another goes between CBR and Epcot with a stop at Riviera between them, and the third goes between CBR and the Pop/AoA station (which is on the bridge connecting them).

b) blue route boat from the Lodge to the Contemporary
I had heard this route is afternoon-only and wouldn’t be available in the morning, but regardless I do support including the Lodge in the tour. I’d even start with a Whispering Canyon breakfast myself.

The boat from WL to MK will be running all day, and from there the Contemporary is either a 5 minute walk or the first Resort Monorail stop.

Ah, I knew it resumed but didn't realize it was on a limited schedule.

I'd still start there and take the boat to MK, though, because it's still only one boat ride back to the park.

If they do it at some other point in the schedule, it's two boats out and back or they take the bus from the Lodge to the studios and they're re not at the point on the Skyliner where they actually want to start.

The Boardwalk is relatively quiet in the morning and afternoon.

However, the Boardwalk is lively at night. The nighttime performers are back at the Boardwalk and draw a big crowd if the weather is nice.

Plus the Boardwalk Inn, Yacht Club, and Beach Club all have Christmas displays in their lobbies. These are fun to see.

We were there this week at night - hardly a soul, two games open. And the performers were pretty sad. Lol

The Boardwalk was very lively when we were there in May. Lots going on in the evening. Note: if the temps drop down in the evening though the place closes up early and it's pretty dead. It also can get pretty biting out there if there's a wind. I've literally walked the boardwalk all by myself at 8:30P. I noticed that during a couple of December trips.

Yeah, the Boardwalk gets deserted when it’s cold or rainy.

Of course, I have photos of parts of the Magic Kingdom showing it empty when it’s cold and rainy. :)

It was lively for us at night in May and August, but the weather was warm and dry.

The boat between the WL/CR/FW starts at 3pm.

What time do the performers start at boardwalk?
