I am thinking about buying resale DVC but what I enjoy about Disney is moving mid-vacation to be able to enjoy two or more resorts. If I am flexible with dates and resorts will this be easily done and does Disney move your luggage for you?
Thanks

They don't.. Just take a cab

Bell Services will transfer luggage and groceries between resorts. The transfer is only done once a day around 2 PM, so your luggage would not be available at the next resort until 4 PM or so.

We have been resort hopping on Dvc property often on the last few trips. We checkout of one resort and have bell service pick up luggage for transport to new resort. Then we go to a park or downtown Disney for a while. After 4 our new room should be ready so we check into new resort, call bell to have luggage sent to room. Works for us.

We have done many split stays. We like to be at different resorts for visiting different parks. CM are always very helpful in instructing how to make the transition.

I pack one specific tote with things we may need during the time without a room and just retrieve it from bell service if I need to.

We also, schedule a TS breakfast early (7:30 or 8:00 am) on moving day. This makes my teens get up in the morning without to much of a battle.

I would not recommend split stays for families with very small children, you do not have a room from 11 to 4. This can really mess up a nap schedule for small children. With older children, not a problem.

Thank you all for your quick responses. I should have known Disney would make it easy!

We plan to do this in December. How do you handle the tipping for bell services. Do you tip at both resorts? thanks

If Bell Services comes to your room to pickup or drop off luggage, a gratuity is customary.

I am one of those really crazy organized people. I have envelopes made up prior to our trips with all my estimated tips enclosed. (Too many times of reaching in my wallet and only having 20's or nothing :rotfl2:)

I do tip the bell server who comes to the room at both resorts. At times, my husband will go to bell service and get our bags, then I have him tip but, less than if they bring up the bags.

I have a 2 and 4 yo and we don't have any issues with doing split stays. While we do have set nap times at home we don't strictly adhere to them on vacation. The kids nap when they are tired in the stroller, so we don't head back to the room. Just wanted to give another view!

Thanks for the post. My DD is almost 19 & DS is 16. We did not own DVC when my children was your children's age. Glad to hear it works well for you too.

I was going by other posts I have read here. Specifically, reading about dealing with sick/overtired little ones and the time without a room causing huge inconveniences.

:) While I have always been pleased with Bell services (save this one incident)...we had them transfer our luggage from Pop to AKV including DH's expensive camera equipment. We received the luggage but not the camera equipment. We had to wait an extra 1 1/2 hours for it because they could not find it? :worried: Alas, bell services did come through in the end but it was aggravating. So we learned a lesson and now take a cab.
