I am so mad I missed a contest!! But I am at least all caught up!! I can't believe I only have 4 days to go! My ticker says five but I added on Saturday and never changed my ticker! I totally missed my single digit dance too! What the heck is wrong with me and I still have not packed yet ! Of course in my head I have packed seventeen times over... Oh and now they want me to "squeeze" Sci Fi into my ADR's - helllllo 4 days before we go - are you kidding me! Well off to work on that and hopefully get some disney magic working !

Yay for an extended Christmas trip! More time to shop!! We will miss not getting to meet Baylor Girls and I will be in a Studio at Kidani Dec 18-21. Hubby arrives on the 22nd and we switch to a 1bd still at Kidani until the 26 when we go home. I hope Hubby likes Christmas at Disney so much that we can go back in 2011!! Have tickets already gone on sale for MVMCP?

I don't know about the tickets for the Christmas party. I've been it a twit awaiting approval from my principal for our October trip which I'm pleased to say happened yesterday!
Have you stayed in a 1br before? We have such a hard time going to a studio after staying in one...
Kidani is very nice, we were there last Christmas, Harper loved the animals off of our balcony.

Boo to having the DIS blocked at school! I could get it this spring but they were doing a big overhaul of the computer systems this summer, so I'll have to wait and see if I can still DIS at school!

YEAH, that stinks!!!! BUT I bet you can get to it through other means.... FOR instance. FACEBOOK is blocked on our work computers (with HS kids this is a no brainer) BUT I can access Facebook if I click the link on the DIS page... SO.... I bet if you go to a site that had the DIS linked, rather, has a button link to the page, you will be able to get on...

I am not sure.... but.... why not try!!!!

It's not so much that I could possibly find my way back on but the fact that they have ways to track where I'm going during the day....
I have petitioned them to unblock it.

I'll admit it, I'm an avid Disney fan, and yes we have 5 trips this year! This website provides me with endless photos of Disney World that I can use in the classroom for science, social studies, writing, math, a cheerful good morning or a see you real soon good bye! In the second grade classroom I strive to engage students by providing a fun and exciting working environment. What better way than to learn with Mickey Mouse and a host of Disney characters? I hope you will reconsider my request and unblock the disboards!

I just looked it up the closest store is either in Houston, Tx or Destin, Fl. Maybe someday. I could always order online but would really love to see it in person.

Too bad there wasn't one closer! I would love to see the store too. I had never heard them before Anita's trip report. I had hoped to do some shopping when we had a layover this weekend in Orlando, but it was thru security, or so I was told, and I didn't dare brave that MCO security line with only a 45 minute layover. We only live a couple hours from SA so maybe the next time we are in town I'll get to see one. In the meantime, I had to order some of those hair clips, some nail polish, and those adorable flip flops.

I told those people in Del Sol that I was talking them up on my trip report. I really like that store!

Yeah, that's kindof what I do. Google Disney Forums and when the list comes up click on a link for one of the sub-forums, such as budget board, trip reports, etc. and it comes up for me. Of course I only do this on my breaks or during my lunch break

They can watch were we go from downtown so if they don't unblock it I probably won't try it...

Well I would come in early in the morning and sign on then leave it up in a window....
If I had a break when the kids were out at recess or lunch I might go in then sometimes before I went home look at the DIS but really if I had kids there wasn't time to DIS...
Not with 2nd graders. They keep you hopping!
I did get lots of pictures from there to show the kids. I sure hate losing it...

I would probably cry if they blocked our Dis. Yay for an extended Christmas trip!! I just love going at the holidays. We are not going this year, but hopefully next Christmas.

We love it there too at Christmas, I hope you get to come for the big meet in 2011!

I worked for a couple of hours last Friday night, just moving things out of my old space into the new space. Really the same room just to a different area.
I made a huge mess.
I need to go and get it cleaned up,
then get the room rearranged, maybe this weekend.

As a team we will meet next week for lunch and come up with a plan to start working at school together.
I imagine it will be mornings the first week of Aug.

Hey! on your petition, I would say really it doesn't seem like they trust your professional judgement to use the internet in appropriate ways. That doesn't seem fair to me. Now your reasons, the arguements for having access to the photos, is good, but I would not focus on that alone -- because they could counter that the same type of material could be found elsewhere. It is disconcerting that they made this change... and how they determined it was necessary.. I would inquire why. That forces them to say it. Unless they did already. I mean, are there OTHER community posting boards that are "blocked" -- is facebook? I think you can certainly say that DIS is NOT facebook, but also, you could say that really the DIS is not far from email -- private email accounts, etc.

I would be most curious to hear their reason and how they came to the decision. What stakeholders in your school participated in the discussion to determine the sites that would be blocked, etc....

Nothing original or creative. I think I'm going to go with Toy Story - to go along with Brooklynn's birthday party. You've Got a Friend in Second Grade or You've Got a Friend in Our Class with Toy Story characters all around.

The girl who taught next to me last year is having to move to another room. She called yesterday and told me she tried to go down and work, but the janitors wouldn't let her in because they were buffing the floor on that hall. I'll get there next week sometime, I guess.

Wow, I missed a lot while I was in NY! At least a Wigd & Shocker trip report doesn't move too fast, so I've really only missed the contests!

My June TR is about to turn into a photo report so I can finish it up this week, in between trying to get the nursery finished up since all of the furniture we ordered came in over a month early. We leave for WDW on Tuesday... that reminds me, I need to call member services...

In my 8 years of teaching, I've only changed classrooms once, not counting years where I switched schools. I've also had to "float" for 2 years, where I used multiple classrooms during the course of the day... floating is not common in elementary schools, but in secondary schools, it can be quite common.
