Resort Hoppin' with Wigd and Shocker! Contests!

Great souvie pics! I see several things that might need to come home with me in a couple of days! I really hope they still have those t-shirts at the EE dumpshop, but I am not holding my breath.

Great souvenirs!!! :thumbsup2 I especially love the stuff from Basin. I have to make a stop there this time, I didn't make it in December.
I just love Basin! Did you know they have a store at the Grand Floridian?
You got some great bargains!!! I love the poncho - I might have to splurg on one of those!!
The bargains were everywhere! The ponchos were the same price as the ones they sell every time it rains! $15
Love you souvie pics...you got some great deals!

BLT looks fun, you had a great view!

My contest guess is: 10,058
I have never seen so many things on sale at Disney! I loved our view at BLT!!
Okay here goes nothing, my guess for the room numbers is 10200.Love the report so far!!!
Thanks for reading along!
Beautiful view from your BLT room.

I wonder if that guy is as well know as the Teddy Bear Lady?

You always find the best stuff!:thumbsup2 I think Danielle would love the Del Sol stuff. Too bad we drive way more than fly.

My guess is 10,005
I've never heard about the punkin head guy but next time I'm going to ask...
Is there something that you think Danielle would like from Del Sol? I'll be back in there the end of October! Just let me know, I'll pick it up for her!
Anita, MeMom's and Marc's gifts were really pretty. I also like this outfit for Harper!!

DSCN4413.jpg

My guess for the contest will be 9986 I asked my dd what number will she choose, she looked at the room numbers and them I did the math she said that she was out of school and that during the summer she doesn't remember any math:scared1: :scared1:
I agree that MeMom and Marc chose very well for me!
The outfit for Harper is really cute, I chose that!
You got lots of fun goodies! Even better that a lot of them were on sale :) The tiger is super cute :thumbsup2
I love a good bargain! The tiger has found a perfect spot on a shelf at school!
First off, a guess: 9904

Secondly: It looks like a great first day. We ate at the Plaza on our last trip and paid oop although we were on the dining plan. I definitely agree it was a nice meal but not DDP worthy.

Third: Those are some great deals you found! I especially love all of Marc's polos. I kept yelling to my hubby to look a the computer to check them out!
So true about the Plaza, nice place to eat but it has to be oop!
Since Marc teaches, he will wear those polo shirts to work and on vacation as well.
His students love it when he wears Mickey to school!
He never pays full price for shirts when we are at Disney, so we were quick to grab these up!
I am a little late, but I finally made it over here! You got a lot of GREAT stuff! :thumbsup2

My guess for the contest is 10,046.

I can't wait to read more. (Also, I really enjoyed seeing your updates on Facebook.)
Thanks for joining us and following on FB! I actually just got started on the report today!
Great updates. What fun souvies you got. You do have a knack for finding some great stuff! ::yes::

Forgive me if you've already answered this but where would you rank BLT in your list of DVC resorts? What did you think of the sort of combo kitchen galley/bathroom sink design?

The view from your room was lovely.

Still dreaming of that grand villa with the multi-story castle view someday!! :cloud9:
We are both dreaming of that grand villa castle view!
I'll tell you, BLT is nice but a little cold.
Not very personal.
Nice and close to the MK.
The best thing about our studio aside from our view was the galley. I loved the pull out pantry/shelves. It had great storage!

So far though I'd rank DVC resorts that we've stayed at...

1 Beach Club
2 Boardwalk
3 Bay Lake
4 Kidani
5 Saratoga
6 Old Key West

Much of this is based on transportation, Shocker just pointed out to me....
He put Bay Lake much lower.
I see your name in that too - very cool! You just had to buy it, it had your name all over it. ;)

Love all those sales! I hope they continue through September. Or maybe I shouldn't hope for that.

Beautiful view at BLT too!! What did you guys think of it overall?
I imagine those sells will continue!
I liked BLT more than Marc did, but I have issues with Disney buses and he doesn't.
my guess 10,001.

Boo for the Plaza not sending you a birthday cupcake.

Love the first day.

I really expected that cupcake.

Great souvie pics! I see several things that might need to come home with me in a couple of days! I really hope they still have those t-shirts at the EE dumpshop, but I am not holding my breath.

No don't hold your breath, you might be a funny color by the time you get down there. They had a bunch of them in small when I was there last week.

Whew - you guys are chatty!
I am caught up.
My Guess: 9947 Why not?

Love the pictures - you had a nice view at BLT! We were on the other part of the "c" on the outside and if we looked left we could see MK, although it wasn't an MK view officially. I too thought the decor was a bit cold (almost "too contemporary" for me) and a bit boring. That studio was pretty cozy, eh? I thought so too. We were crowded with the four of us. The very best thing was the closeness to MK and monorail too.
We're not DVC, so we were not allowed up to Top of the World. I think at the beginning it was a big issue b/c people weren't told up front they couldn't use it if they weren't on DVC points, but by now, they should know.

Your souvies pictures are always so much fun! I marvel at all the great stuff you find! Love the cute outfit for Harper and the Basin stuff! I want that lip scrub!
I did see your name in that picture too! Very cool
I can't believe they didn't give you a cupcake at the Plaza - or a sundae!

Look at you Sheree, 12 days!
Oh the fun to be looking forward to a trip.....
I think we are of the same opinion of BLT, although a larger space would have helped!
You should stop in at Basin and at least sample the lip scrub, it has a pleasant taste!
The lack of a Plaza BD treat made me a little sad.:sad2:

Contest #2

Our stay at BLT had a room number in the 7700-7800 range.

Our stay at BCV had a room number in the 200s.

Our stay at BWV had a room number in the 2000-2100 range.

Add up the 3 room numbers and submit your guess.

Your guess should fall in this range: 9,900-10,199.

The guess coming closest, high or low, to the actual number will be the winner.

The winner will be announced on Tuesday, July 20th, at noon.

:teacher: 10,051

Awesome souvies!!!!

Sorry they didn't bring you a cupcake, the nerve.

Yeah, we're pretty excited with our countdown! I wish I could pack! It's been really hot and humid here - so we went to the zoo today to practice for WDW!! Hot and crowded!

I will try that scrub. It sounds like it would be right up my alley.

Maybe the weather will hold and it won't be too bad, we've been watching for Jackie's trip and it doesn't look too bad!

They'll but that scrub on a stick, you'll have enough for the girls to test it out too!

I've been preparing the girls -telling them that this is what Florida will be like. They've never been in the summer before. I just hope we can avoid thunderstorms. I think the approach to park touring is going to be really laid back and popping into the A/C quite often! I hope the weather is ok. I am already checking the extended forecasts too!

I think the main thing is not to plan too much. If it's hot, stay out of the heat collect your fast passes and go late.
Enjoy Stormalong Bay!

I just love Basin! Did you know they have a store at the Grand Floridian?

His students love it when he wears Mickey to school!

I love Basin. I could spend so much money in there. Basin stuff makes great gifts, too. Anyone I have ever given a cute bar of soap to has loved it. I've been the recipient of a few bars, as well. Loved them! :)

Harper's outfit is cute!

My students like my Disney earrings. They are my almost daily Disney touch. Marc is set until a fall trip, it looks like. :thumbsup2

You are very right with the laid back approach. Do a couple of outside things, then find an inside show or place to sit and have a glass of water and cool off. If you go in knowing it's going to be hot and making plans to alleviate the heat in little spurts throughout the day, you are all going to have a much nicer trip. ::yes:: It doesn't make you a failure not to be able to go from park opening to closing, rushing from ride to ride and boiling in the heat. It makes you smart to do it in pleasant shorter spurts with lots of pool time and other cool down/rest moments throughout the day.

Afternoon thunderstorms are the norm in Florida. Makes for good nap time. :)

Yay! I love your first entries!

I agree that the BLT studio is small... I hope to stay there in a 1 bedroom next time. I think what is nice about Disney is that each resort has a different feel -- I think BLT is very "retro-modern" -- they call it "Mid Century" in Palm Springs, and I like it, but that is because we like that "look" anyhow... however I agree I feel somewhat removed from everything -- maybe that is b/c at BCV the villas are right at the intersection of the food/shops in the resort... I know it is similar with WLV, the villas are off to one side.... I think the big problem is the fact that nothing is ground level -- having to go to a different floor to access the walkway, to get to the shops, food, etc. that is what makes it feel so detached. BUT, there are lots of nice aspects to it, IMO. I liked the split stay we did, and while I don't know we'll go to Disney for 10 days again, I wouldn't hesitate to split a trip 4 and 4 or something like that... I really liked having the change, and being in the Epcot area! Beach Club this summer was the best place to be. :lovestruc

WOW you grabbed some great sales, and I LOVE that one year, if we ever are there at the same time and season where we CAN do this, WE can be TWINS in our hoodies!!! I just loved that hoodie!!! I wore it camping! :rotfl:

We discovered the Basin store at GF, that was fun! I grabbed a few things for me.

Those Tiger pillows were cute! I missed those AK shirt sales, but very fun stuff you found!! I saw all the men's shirts, great deal!

Great souvies! And you got great sales.
I love the Minnie charm and necklace. Beautiful!

When I went on the tour of the BLT model rooms at the Doorway to Dreams store in Roosevelt Field Mall, I remember the studio feeling small. And I wasn't a huge fan of the sink/vanity in the same area as the kitchenette. I loved the 1 bedroom model, including the two bathrooms and rain shower in the master bath  It's too bad there isn't a gift shop in the lobby of BLT. Do you need your room key to access BLT?

Between your tr and Happydog's, I want to book a few days at BCV next summer. I'm going to be at the YC in November for a convention and had the option to book BC, but decided against it. I figure I could always stay at BCV on points, but would probably never stay at the YC. I wonder if the weather will be warm enough to try SAB in November.

Wow go away for 3 days and the trip report doubles and I miss a contest.

Here's my guess for this one-9040

Yes she wants to be a princess. She loves dressing up in her dressup clothes. We hope to go next year for her first trip.

Wow more silly banz. Your kids are going to love you. I buy the cheap ones and when I have a patient in the dental chair who sits real still and follows directions during the procedure, we give them as rewards. You wouldn't believe how these things have made working on children easier. LOL!

Rhonda

WAIT! I didn't vote. Here is my # - 10027

If someone already has it, I will take 10013

I agree, Basin makes really good gifts for friends back home especially the ones that don't get your {{ gasp}} Disneyness!

Harper is wearing a 3T and that outfit came in a 2 and a 4. I chose a 4....
I think I chose too big.:sad2:

Marc is set up for fall trip, back to school, spring break and cruise!

Great advice! Since they have to spend time at Stormalong I'm sure they will schedule many breaks!

Since our mascot at school is Tigers I couldn't resist but he wasn't on sale...
Did you notice that I ranked BLT 3rd on my list? I really liked it and know I would loved a 1br. Where would you rank it?
We would have liked more "human" warmth. It wasn't the decor that we didn't like...
I saw on Jackie's ptr that you are pre-thinking about Christmas 2011, we are planning on going then too! The week before Christmas if our calendar stays the same for school!

I wouldn't hesitate to stay at BLT over the 4th again, it WAS IMO the BEST place to be!
Great souvies! And you got great sales.

If you aren't staying in a 1br villa just stay with the YC...
It may be your only chance.
To get into BLT from the ground floor you do need your card to get in.
We found from the walkway we could many times just get in w/o it using the wheelchair access.
Something about BLT does seem rather exclusive....
Wow go away for 3 days and the trip report doubles and I miss a contest.

Rhonda
That's a great idea for your little dental patients! I know it's hard for them to sit still sometimes...
Honestly most of my kids would be happy with the cheap ones too!

10,024!

I'm not sure I would have seen your name on that card by myself but the power of suggestion is pretty strong!

Love the magnets, gotta ask CP to pick me up some :thumbsup2 And I LOVE LOVE LOVE the gift from MeMom and Jill. I looked longingly at that several times in May

Oh...did anyone answer the president trivia? I want to say Lincoln

Since our mascot at school is Tigers I couldn't resist but he wasn't on sale...

Makes sense to me! :goodvibes

Did you notice that I ranked BLT 3rd on my list? I really liked it and know I would loved a 1br. Where would you rank it?
We would have liked more "human" warmth. It wasn't the decor that we didn't like...

Oh yes! I did -- I agree I would say it is 2nd or 3rd for me too. And I get the whole human warmth factor -- not alot of CMs around, and very quiet... So yeah, probably 2nd or 3rd... but then again it depends on the season. Like I would probably make it 1st for Christmas for me... And 2nd otherwise... But only if we could stay in a one bedroom. You gave me the best advice last summer when I told you we were at Boardwalk... I am soooo glad we moved to BCV. That pool area made our day. The CMs there said it is considered a water park by FL standards! I see why!
In the fall and in the summer, I am sold on BCV... UNLESS it is the 4th of July...

I saw on Jackie's ptr that you are pre-thinking about Christmas 2011, we are planning on going then too! The week before Christmas if our calendar stays the same for school!

Oh well, I don't know that this would happen, it is hard to say... I think I would have a better chance at Summer of 2012 with DH to be honest, so we could go to Universal. I think 10 and 7 would be a good age for Universal, and I know we wouldn't be able to do Disney at Christmas and then Universal .... but I never thought we would do Disney five times in one year!! so you never know!!!

It would be the week leading up to Christmas again, yes. I loved waking up on Christmas morning in Disney.

I wouldn't hesitate to stay at BLT over the 4th again, it WAS IMO the BEST place to be!

I bet it was!!!! :thumbsup2

I just posted my night at Tutto's on my TR, and coming up later my pics of fireworks from the Top of the World Lounge!!! Come have a look! ;)
