Hello disers! My DH and I are currently booked for the POP century in september, but are looking to possibly change resorts (thanks tax rebate!) We could do WL or AKL, but are thinking a moderate would be more realistic for our budgets (and it would mean more spending $ for me!)

i am having a hard time choosing a moderate- we stayed at POR last fall and weren't thrilled. I know many people are big fans of CS, but DH is concerned that it is too big- a coworker of his just got back and said the walk from their room to the pepper market was atrocious. I have heard that there are shuttles available, but who knows if they will be there when you need one!

so how is caribbean beach? or should we spring for deluxe? I am really interested in AKL but could not do a Savannah View- will our experience suffer without it?

thanks!:upsidedow

In my humble opinion a moderate resort really isn't any better than Pop Century. In fact I'd probably take Pop over a mod just because our kids like the theme and the pool there better. Also the food court at Pop is nice and the bus service is probably the best on property. We've tried CBR, POR, and POFQ, none of them really impressed me.

If you can swing it, I would definitely recommend upgrading to WL or AKL. It's nice having the interior hallways and the bigger beds and larger rooms. Plus you have more dining options and more comfy surroundings that make your trip feel more luxurious.

Good luck! :)

Yes, the CSR is spread out. We stay in the Casitas section every year (this will be our 7th year at CSR), and it takes me about five minutes to walk to the Pepper Market for my morning coffee (if my DH walked with me, it would probably take eight to ten minutes because he walks a lot slower than I do). To me, the Caribbean is just as spread out, if not more so. However, being that the AKL is the ONLY deluxe that I would consider in the future, I suggest you go for it.

If you are gonna upgrade from POP I would go with a deluxe like the WL and skip the moderates.

that was kind of our feeling last year too...it was nice, but for the extra money I didn't really feel like it was worth it! I am leaning towards AKL or WL, especially since we are a recently married couple who loves Disney, but this will probably be the last trip for several years...and we were commando last year and I am forcing pool breaks this year!

Plus, we have the deluxe dining plan and it will be nice to have Boma, Jiko and room service available!

thanks everyone! i know this is such a common dilemma, but we have been stewing for months over this!

i will present DH with the AKL fuzzy math tonight :rolleyes1

We were in the same boat. But I prefered Movies to Pop. DH and I have looked at this everynight for the past two weeks and finally yesterday I booked our trip at WL. I had a hard time justifing the cost since basically we only sleep at the hotel. This year will be a family trip, no extended family so we decided on WL. Now that I have booked it, I am soooooo excited. It is also courtesy of the tax stimulation package that I went ahead and did it as well. Now I am just hoping for either a discount to show for my name or free dining. :wizard:

Ok, since you are a recently married couple and have the deluxe dining plan, I would definitely say AKL or WL. No doubt! :thumbsup2 Enjoy being newlyweds and spend the extra money to make your trip more romantic and exciting. And like you said, you'll have way better food options too. DH and I are planning our 10 year anniversary trip with no kids for this July and choosing the resort is my #1 priority. :goodvibes

and we are booked under the bounceback, so we're already saving money :goodvibes

i think you guys have convinced me!

Check out my CS website below for pics and info.

Depending on what you want to be close to, here are some good building choices.

Cabana 9b is close to bus stop 1 and the main building with a short walk to the Dig Site (main pool) over the wooden bridge. Most convenient location and most preferred.

Cabana 8a is close to the Dig Site (and playground) and bus stop 4 with a short walk to the main building. (Closest to the Pool)

Cabana 8b and 9a are in between the 2 above. 9a has a quiet pool.

Ranchos 7b has a quiet pool, is close to the Dig Site and bus stop 4 with a bit longer walk to the main building. 7b is behind cabana 8a.

Casita 1 is attached to the main building and is very close to the restaurants.

Casita 3 has great courtyard and fountain views but you will have to walk or ride the internal shuttle to get to the pool.

Casita 5 has some nice fountain and lake views and is close to the Dig Site but farther from the main building. Close to bus stop #2.

Make your room request as soon as you make your reservation. It’s never too early.

You definitely have to try a resort on your own to make a decision. What one person likes, another may not and vice versa. We love CSR!
