It's been suggested that we buy free-refill mugs at our resort. My question is... does anyone buy refill mugs every year if you go annually? Do they change and would it be wrong to use the mug a year after purchasing it?

We are a family of 4.. we usually only buy 2 mugs and it serves it purpose when we are at the resort.. coffee for adults in the morning... unlimited drinks for kids during the day... its worth the $ for us..
:)

You hit a very hot button topic here. There are signs posted and even imprinted on the mug that the mug is only good for your resort during your length of stay.

What you choose to do after that is up to you but at least you know the policy.

oh boy! Opening up the can of worms...again! ;) Just wait...you'll see what I mean!

Buying mugs is a good thing. Trying to sneak last years mugs in and reuse them is in poor taste. Not that some don't do it anyway.

I personally don't want to teach my children it's ok to cheat just to save $20.

Should have stated that I wouldn't do it. I totally agree it's tacky but I do love opening a can of worms.

I buy the cup and have used paper cup also nothing was said . this work so I can get my 2 cups of coffe with out having to walk back. But i see people by one paper cup and use it all week. Now that is cheating. I feal If I buy the cup and it's all I can drink then thats just what I doo .

I have bought mugs, BUT wised up. Now we go to the Publix near Orlando Premium Outlets and buy all the drinks WE LIKE and it is cheaper than buying all those mugs. Also get to buy some beer/wine if we want. If you are flying you can also buy a styrofoam cooler to keep them cold in. A much better deal than the mugs! You can also pick up some snacks. And your drinks are right in your room, no running to the quick service area at the resort.

Unless you are staying in a value I don't see the point of buying mugs anymore. Deluxes and moderates have refrigerators and coffee makers in the rooms. Since they have added those we don't bother with the mugs.

Only if you consider stealing is wrong  . Buy the mug and use it for your stay, if you go back in a month or two, buy another one... :wave2:

I had purchased the mug at the GF about 4 years ago. They have not been changed since. So I do reuse the mug every summer. I can't see paying the extra $ to buy the same mug. We already own 6. We have never had a problem reusing them. Now if they change the design, then I would go ahead any buy the new ones.

Here we go again.............................

We will be going to WL this fall for our third time. We have eight mugs at home, we will be buying an additional four on our day of arrival. Why, because we are suppose to buy new ones and not bring the old ones. If I can afford to go to WDW again, I can afford to buy more mugs.

I think the mugs are small and not worth the trouble except at Vero Beach where we are at the pool all day long and there are lots of places to fill them.
The Boardwalk is not a good place for mugs. There are only 2 places to fill them, and one place (Boardwalk Bakery) is not in the hotel. The Bellview Room is only open after 5 pm.

We will be staying 11 days at disney. 4 nights at POP and 6 nights at POR. Should we buy mugs at both resorts?

Yes, you are suppose to.

In response to the poster splitting a stay......purchasing at both resorts...
that defeats the purpose.... I would bet that arrangements could be made for you to either use the same mugs (just ignore the evil stares) or to trade in the mugs....
just explain the situation to a CM when you get to Disney....
Keep your rec't...they MUST make exceptions in these cases!!

i buy the mugs cause i drink way tomuch diet pepsi..........also i had friends go and had 2 dif. resorts, they told them it was fine to use the 1 mug. i know you will get dif. answers, but go have a GREAT time and dont worry about the MUGS........................

Unfortunately they never seem to change. I now have 15 GF mugs in the same designs.

We always try to stay at different resorts, and I like collecting all the different mugs--they're kind of neat souveniers; better than t-shirts that fade and wear. Of course, we don't buy them for the kids. I don't want them to have too much soda and they don't like tea and, of course, no coffee.

Remember, the point of the mug is to give you a price break. So, if too many people are using the same mugs over and over and over, then WDW looses money, and the cost of the mugs either goes up or will be done away with completely. Before buying them, you do have to decide how often you'll use them. DH is a big tea drinker, not something we can stock up in the room. I like my coffee, but I'm not going to brew it 4 times a day.

I know people may think this is awful but......I just bought mugs at WL. If I were to go back soon you bet I would use the same mugs. I see nothing wrong with that. If the mug design changed then I would gladly buy new ones but if the design is exactly like the old ones, I would feel no qualms about using the old ones. Surely DW knows people do this-if the mugs aren;t dated and the design is the same, who would know? If DW wanted to enforce a mug policy, they would date them or change the color every year. Now I would never try to use a WL mug at another resort.
Same mug, same hotel, same design-it's all the same to me.
