We are making a trip in March of 2006 and need some advice for deluxe/moderate resorts for five people (2 adults, 3 kids under 10). Stayed at the Wilderness Lodge last time and loved it. Youngest child was 2 at the time. Any suggestions? I'm sure they will be pricey but worth it! :earsgirl:

We have stayed at the Grand Floridian and the Poly with 5 of us (2 adults and 3 children). While both were great as they have 2 beds and a daybed I liked the convience of the Poly being so close to the Transportation centre. As well you can sit on the beach and watch the fireworks at MK or the water parade. The feel of being on an island is an added benefit. I found the rooms at the Poly to be bigger than at GF as well. Either way you won't be disappointed with them.

If you want a moderate, the POR has some rooms in the AB section that have a trundle bed so these rooms can have 5 people. Also the contemporary rooms have a day bed in the rooms. It is very convienient to get the the MK from there since you can walk or take the monorail.

We are a family of 5 going in August. We are staying at the CR. We stayed there about 10 years ago and thought we would try it again. I have seen some posts about it being a little run down and tired, but we wanted to stay at a deluxe and this was even cheaper than AKL and we will be on the monorail line. So I'm not going to complain. My DD will be 11 on our trip (turns 11 week before we go) and she will be sleeping on the day bed. My DS and his friend will be in the other bed (age 14 & 15) and me and DH in the other bed. I figure we will not be in the room that much anyway and this way I can keep up with the boys better (you know teenagers!!!). We did look at the Wilderness cabins, but I think I would feel too removed from the Disney experience - so we decided against it. I think we are going to go out there and look at them in person to see if it is somewhere we would want to stay in the future. Good Luck! :teeth:

We're a family of five also. We've stayed at POR AB twice and loved it. Now the kids are older, so we're trying the Beach Club. I got a nice AP rate, so it was easier to decide. Leaving in 12 days! Can't wait!!!!!!!! :cool1: :cloud9:

I think AKL has bunk beds with a trundle - I think

Poly and CR are best known for their room size. I think the kids under 10 would enjoy the poly more

Hi,

All of the deluxe resorts besides the WL and the standard size rooms at the AKL can sleep five. Only the AB section of POR can sleep five at the moderate level.

If you are going to spend most of your time at the MK and the room rate is in your budget then give the Poly or CR as their rooms sleep five and are some of the largest, if not the largest, standard rooms on property.

We are a family of 5 and stayed at POR in AB section for 7 nights in early June. The room was fine, but small. We enjoyed the resort and pools. Before we left, we decided to add on one more night and moved to the CR. We had a garden wing room, but really wanted to stay in the tower. Anyway, the room was fine and we think we would have been happy in that room for a week. I don't have any experience with any of the other resorts on the monorail, but if there rooms are as spacious as CR - you should be fine. If you liked WL - you might consider renting points from a DVC member and staying at VWL.

Last June we stayed at the POR in AB section and LOVED it, We are 2 adts w/3 girls....ages last year was 12 1/2, 8 and 4 1/2. DD 12 was 2 mths from turning 13 but weighed under 100 lbs so slept in the trundle w/o any problem at all. She refused to share a bed w/her 8 yr old sister but it worked fine.
I didn't think the rooms were small and loved the walk to bus stops, pools and dinning room. Would definitely go back to it.

I don't have experience w/any other resorts but in my opinion, it's Disney, you can't go wrong!! :wizard:

after much thought, deliberation and heart pounding, head thumping action I have changed our ressies three times, first POR AB seems tooo small for 5 imo, I also did not want to fight the busses every darned trip everywhere. I wanted to be close to MK and EPCOT but mostly MK...so we went with CR but I have heard not good reviews on the place and the kids were not too excited about the theme and pool area but the food choices seem great! So we are now booked at POLY for just a little more...and I like the theme and the vacation to Hawaii theme within Disney!! Seems tropical, reviews are great of Poly and it is a monorail resort. You could also rent points from a DVC member for a 1 or 2 br suite somewhere if space is a concern. Tell us about your preferences as far as space and location and transportation!! That might help...also consider restaurants and if you will have your own car, we will not so location was a #1 for me with three little girls. Good luck! I love to see larger than average families doing Disney :flower:
