We are thinking of making a trip to Disney with our DS early November next year. He will be just over 16 months old. DS is our first child, so it is hard for us to know if he will be interested in anything specifically, or just everything in general. We've considered Contemporary for the monorail and AKL for the animals. We don't want to pay a fortune if he could care less, but if he would have an interest that is a different story. Any advice? Thanks!

When we went in Feb our DS was 20 months. We were at ASMo in the Toy Story section. Well he weent from a screaming, over tired, had enough travel monster to giggling and totally in awe when he saw giant Buzz Lightyear. He loved the room with the toy story poster and also Andy's room play area. It was just a plus that it was the cheapest place to stay. I love the theming especially for this age because everything is huge.

I think at 16 months he will have a blast - due to his age consider commuting time to parks, leaving enough time in for a good nap and also a good swim as kids that age love the concept of swimming. Are you going to have a rental car? Are there 2 adults and 1 child in the party? Is your child able to nap well in a stroller?

Are there specific park(s) you had in mind? I found that MGM was the least "favourite" of our DS#2 when he was in that age bracket and MK and AK were the best.

If you can afford it and MK is a big draw, you cannot beat the Contemporary - kids love the monorail, running down the concourse and it's great to be able to walk over to the MK - has a nice beach as well for playing around and a small spray pad area as well

Cheers

We're doing POP with DD 20 months next month and DS 9months next month. They have TONS that the kids love!! we did the same stop last year too!! DD loves the POP jet play area and the kiddie pool is GREAT! the icons, music, twister games, hula hoops are all FABULOUS and FUN!!

We took our DS when he was 15 months old and we stayed at the beach Club. We loved being able to wheel over to the International gatewy to get into EPCOT! We didn't have to use a lot of busses, which was a concern of ours with the stroller. We did also have a rental car which we used to get to Animal Kingdom. The only time we took a bus was to go to MK for opening, after that we took the monorail back to EPCOT and walked back to our hotel. This time we're staying at POR -- I'll let you know how that works when I get back Sept 23!

I think that Disney does such a great job with themeing that you should pick the resort based on your needs and not worry about what your ds will think about it. As pp's have said their dc loved the Giant Buzz at ASMo which is a value resort while others have stayed at Deluxe's and their kids loved those as well. We have stayed at several resorts including the Boardwalk, AK Lodge, Villas @ Wilderness Lodge. DS loves them all... He really like the lobby at Wilderness lodge with the huge spring that turns into a stream and eventually leads to the swimming pool. At AKL he couldn't get enough of watching the animals from the balcony.

So my advice is to decide what you want. There are lots of choices in different prices ranges. The Monorail resorts are really nice if you want the convenience of being able to just ride right over to MK or Epcot. WL is a little less convenient via boatride or bus but it's a beautiful resort as well. The Value resorts like All Stars will save you money, the theming is fun for the little ones but you'll have to take the bus everywhere (or drive).

Btw, we're staying at the All Star's Movie resort in a few weeks and ds (3) can't wait to see "Giant Buzz".

hth!

We went last September for our 4th annv. Our son was 21mths and I was 6mths pregnant. We stayed at the ASMo in the Toy Story building. He really didn't know much about disney except Mickey and friends. Well he came back loving Buzz. Everything and anything buzz. I have a picture of him looking at the giant buzz in awe. He loved the room with the toy story poster the play area and he especially loved the pool. He would probably would have cared less to going to the park then staying in the water. We didn't go on rides but we did a lot of shows and play areas. Dh did go on rides with the friends we meet up with and I watch there ds.

The funny thing is by the time we got up to all the characters in each park to take pictures ds was sleeping. Ds loved all the kids water areas where the water shoots out of the ground. Hope you have a great and wonderful trip.
