I think that Disney does such a great job with themeing that you should pick the resort based on your needs and not worry about what your ds will think about it. As pp's have said their dc loved the Giant Buzz at ASMo which is a value resort while others have stayed at Deluxe's and their kids loved those as well. We have stayed at several resorts including the Boardwalk, AK Lodge, Villas @ Wilderness Lodge. DS loves them all... He really like the lobby at Wilderness lodge with the huge spring that turns into a stream and eventually leads to the swimming pool. At AKL he couldn't get enough of watching the animals from the balcony.
So my advice is to decide what you want. There are lots of choices in different prices ranges. The Monorail resorts are really nice if you want the convenience of being able to just ride right over to MK or Epcot. WL is a little less convenient via boatride or bus but it's a beautiful resort as well. The Value resorts like All Stars will save you money, the theming is fun for the little ones but you'll have to take the bus everywhere (or drive).
Btw, we're staying at the All Star's Movie resort in a few weeks and ds (3) can't wait to see "Giant Buzz".
