Resort Fee when booking through internet

I was all ready to book a 5 night stay at GCH with park tickets and airline tickets on Orbitz and read somewhere else that DL charges a $14 resort fee each day. Never seen that at WDW!

It sounds like they don't charge if you book a package. Does anyone know if that fee will be charged by the hotel if I book through Orbitz or another internet travel company?

Thanks.

Booking room-only will result in the resort fee. It's $12 plus 15$ tax, so $13.80 per day. You will have that on your end-of-stay bill charged directly by the resort, no matter who you booked through.

But booking a package deal has those fees rolled in, nothing extra.

Resort fee covers parking, pool and workout room (I think they generally only mention the workout rooms but I like including the pool), a newspaper every weekday, and internet access. (since it's rolled into the package price, of course package-buyers get those things too)

Thanks for the info. I understand if booking a package deal, that fees are rolled in. Expedia says though that the fee is charged at check-in, so its not rolled in. Do you have any idea if they really charge the fee still if booked through Expedia or even Orbitz?

I think Expedia and the others have been known to lie their pants off about the resort fees. One of them was saying it was $16 recently. :) OK OK they aren't lying; they just don't know, and would rather overestimate than lowball it. :)

I'm sure someone else who booked a package through one of those sites (I used Costco Travel, which is a discount TA but not the same) will chime in over the next few days...but be patient b/c some regular posters might be off with families...the forum here doesn't move nearly as fast as the WDW forums do.

*chimes in* ;)

I booked Paradise Pier through Expedia in November. Room only. Our booking confirmation did say resort fee of $ 16 due to be paid at check in. We were charged the $ 13.80 at check out like Molly described.

I *think* Expedia does offer to add tickets etc. to your booking, but we did not do that so I can not comment what will happen there. This may or may not count as package per Disney definition. :confused3

When the option was presented to me it was done as an add on after I confirmed the room booking and it did not mention the usual package goodies. So I would guess Disney does not see it as a package deal where you save the fees.
