Hi
Anyone have resort fee waived at swan/dolphin recently...I read that at one time they would waive if requested...Should i bother asking upon checkin:confused:

Thanks:D

All recent reports have been that they will NOT waive this.

It's been about four months since they last waived it.

I made my ressies in Feb. & will be there in May. When I booked my room I asked that the resort fee be waived as I had no intentions of using any of these extras. The man I spoke to at The Swan said no problem, & my reservation confirmation states that the resort IS waived. I will see how this holds up when I check in.

I guess its who you speak to.

Thanks for replying! I have heard both sides and i was wondering if there was anyone who just came back and had the fee waived...I guess it doesn't hurt to ask! I know i wont be using any of the amenities that come along with it so i might as well!!;)

I too was told that it would be waived at check-in. But when I checked in (Jan. 2003), I was told that they no longer waive and and the best they could do was waive half of it since I had booked before the new policy went into effect.

Did it say this on your reservation confirmation? Mine does & I plan on bringing it when I check-in. If its in print, how can they dispute it?

I had it waived in March. I asked nicely at the front desk. It was our first stay there - maybe that's why they did it.

I also made reservations in Feb. (via Priceline) for a trip in May, and when I called the Swan, the rep. told me that they never waive the fee:confused: I guess that I'm going to call back now...it totally sounds like it depends on who you get on the phone!

If you are aware that this resort fee is part of the pricing structure for this great resort, why would you book at the Swan and Dolphin if you disagree with this fee?

The location of the Swan and Dolphin is fabulous - you will not find another deluxe resort offered for what we are able to get at S&D. Even if you add the resort fee.

The resort fee is $10.00 including tax - at least that is what I see on my bill from this last weekend. It is not taxed at 11%.

If the $10.00 was added to the room rate it would become a total of $11.10 when you add the tax.

You are not being charged for what you use, you are being charged for what is available to you.

Folks the resort fee is part of what it takes to stay at this resort. There is nothing unfair about it - it is part of the pricing for this resort and allows them to offer High Speed Internet Access, Phone service, Coffee in the room, daily paper, and the health club. If you take advantage of those or not - they are available and are part of what you pay for when you stay here.

If you disagree with paying the resort fee, I would humbly suggest staying at a resort that does not charge one. But if you know in advance that this fee exists and still choose to book at this great resort, just consider it part of what you pay.

Trekker, I would have to respectfully disagree. If it were part of the cost, it would be included in the price, not an extra fee for specific items I have no need for.

Yes I understand it would cost me more if it was included in the room price, however THEY have listed it as a separate fee. To me it is like an upgrade I am supposed to pay for, eventhough I do not need it.

I guess the bottom line for me is if its all included, its all included & only charge me once. If items are al la carte, then I should be able to to decline column B.

It's not the fact that I disagree with the fee...it's the fact that they wave it for some people and not for others! Either have a fee calculated into the room rate across the board, or else make it optional, contingent upon wanting the amenities that the fee pays for. Frankly, it stinks that the fee is tacked on above the cost of the room and then waved at the discretion of the CM who answers the phone or checks guests in. Will DH and I stay at the Swan or Dolphin again? I guess we'll see...honestly, I'd be just as happy staying at one of the on-site Universal hotels that are coming up on Hotwire right now:eek: If the Swan chooses not to wave our $10/day fee on our upcoming trip, I think that my DH may just be angry enough to be swayed towards trying a Universal hotel on our trip in Oct :)

We were there in March and had club level priv upgrade - although we stayed in our balcony room - which is the best of all worlds I tell you!!! anyway, I called down and asked to have the $10 resort fee removed and that was no problem...

Hey - I love the dolphin....especially room 8029!!! Why am I telling anyone this? I should keep it a secret?????? Ahhh I can't help it! I LOOOOOOVVVVVVVVEEEEE that room. The view is amazing with the Epcot ball and the fireworks and boardwalk lights at night. I love this place... I love it!!!!

I have tried to have the resort fee waived on my past 3 trips, and was told every time that the resort fee is never waived. (even when staying on CL) I agree with the previous poster in that it is the fact that they are not consistent in their policy that bothers me. I would love to know why they don't just include it in the price of their room instead of picking and choosing who will have to pay it based on which front desk employee you are lucky or unlucky to get at check-in. I have never pushed the subject because I knew going in that I would have to pay it, just think that if they included it in their room price it would save them a lot of grief.
