Will there be a resort fee for us if we book the Grand Californian using our DVC points? We are going in May and just wanted to know if they hit DVC members with this fee.

I don't remember being charge the resort fee last July. Hopefully someone with a better memory will chime in.

I haven't used points to stay there, but I believe the only Disney Collection option that has a fee is the cruise line. :smokin:

mattnday,
The resort fee is covered by the points. It costs extra if you elect to use valet parking.

Hey Matt,

Just wondering if it was easy to book the GCH using points. I just booked a regular cash reservation for mid-June and it was $361/night not including the $10 + tax resort fee. Egads! It looks like the same time period is 24 points per night with DVC, a much better deal.

Do DVC members get any cash discount at the GCH?

Boy, do I need some more points or what?!

I'll probably end up cancelling this reservation and either stay offsite or not go :(.

We stayed at GCH using our points the week fo July 4th 2006 and it was great. No resort fee. Great pools. Great location-attached to the parks and Downtown Disney. We liked it better than Disneyworld because of the location.

disneydenisel - Your example is why I never understood why the majority says never to use points at DL. Yes it is a better value at WDW, but if I'm already planning to go to DL then I'll use my points. We haven't stayed off-site in many years and personally don't want to.

DH and I are going in Sept. and decided to use points for the GC. DH isn't a big DL fan (he loves WDW), but he hasn't been in years. I figured that we won't go again for some time, so I had no problem using the points.

I've used points at the GC, but I usually save them for WDW. I go to Disneyland so often (we live 90 miles away) that we usually stay across the street or down the block for about $60-$100/night. Can't get those prices at the Disneyland resorts or at WDW. However, when the Villas at the Grand Californian open, I'll be the first in line to buy points, and I will be using points to stay there often. The Grand Californian is a wonderful resort.
