Resort during Thanksgiving week

Hello all,

My friend and her friend are teachers in the NYC area. The one friend said that she has "points" (not sure what that is) and can get a a place for Thanksgiving week. They can't go any other (off peak) time due to school.

Can someone tell me what it is like during that time and where can we stay with these so called "points". I dont think she is talking about a timeshare.

Without knowing what the points are for, I don't think anyone could tell you where they could be used.

We've gone the last couple of years during Thanksgiving week and found the crowds to be very manageable until Thursday (Thanksgiving day) and then it is very busy through Sunday.

Most of the Christmas decorations are up by Thanksgiving day in the parks and resorts.

Thanks for your quick reply. I wasn't sure if people with "points" have to stay at a certain resort. I know Teachers get a discount at the Swan & Dolphin. I haven't been to the "world" since 1992. UGH!!!!

I would love to stay a deluxe resort or do a split stay between two resorts.

Do you find that all the resorts sell out quick?

I think our dates will be 11/25 to 11/30.

HI, DVC MEMBERS BUY POINTS AND THE WE USE THEM AT OUR HOME RESORT OR MAY STAY AT OTHER DVC RESORTS AND DEPENDING ON THE ROOM AND THE RESORT IT COST SO MANY POINTS. HOPE THAT ISN'T TO CONFUSING, THERE IS A DVC SECTION ON THESE BOARDS. LORI

She could also be talking about starwood points with a stay at the Swan or Dolphin. There are threads on both the starwood point usage and the Swan/Dolphin on this board. The government/nurse/teacher rate at the Swan/Dolphin is fantastic! Why not ask your friend where they are thinking of staying?

Thanks for your information as well. I am friends with the one gal, but her friend is the one with the "points". They are both in Las Vegas right now so I would have to wait for their return.

Seeing since I haven't been to WDW since 1992, I am getting ahead of myself and very excited at the thought of going.

I am now starting to think that maybe I would go down a few days ahead of them (I am not a teacher so I can go at anytime) and enjoy the "peace and quiet" before the Thanksgiving rush starts.

If this is the case, does anyone know if there are any "specials" or discounts out for that week?
