My husband and I will be visiting a couple of the resorts soon. A few months ago, I posted in the general dining and the feedback that I decided to go with not making any reservations and just dining in the lounges or winging it with walk up lists. Our time is very limited and while I've made some mental plans for dining, we'll definitely scrap any or all of it and just eat when we're hungry. We don't eat the same things. My husband has been on a weird almost all meat diet, can't tolerate gluten, corn or most nightshades and is sober. He will enjoy zero proof cocktails. I rarely eat meat and when I do, it's white meat chicken or burgers. I also enjoy a festive drink/signature drink. We're 2 nights at Poly and one night at Beach Club. Since we're cruising in between the resort stays and it's summer in Florida, I decided that we won't go to the parks at all and will just enjoy visiting resorts.

Here's my thoughts. Let me know if any are really off and if there's a better idea for any of it.

We'll arrive at the Poly at dinner time and I am very much insisting on starting with a Lapu Lapu and the noodles so Tambu Lounge is where I plan to go. AFAIK, there's nothing for my husband there. So, I was planning on having him get some Sushi to bring to the Tambu Lounge.

There's a chance we'll visit Top of the World Lounge that night. None of the food looks good for either of us, but I thought getting a drink and watching the fireworks might be fun. If we're not hungry/thirsty, maybe we'll just watch from the Poly. I also want to see the Water Pageant because it reminds me of the Electric Light Parade which holds nostalgia value to me.

Next morning, maybe breakfast at either Contemporary or Grand Floridian? He'll want basic eggs and bacon or steak and eggs. I'll be happy with whatever. Is there a basic breakfast at Poly? No interest in character dining unless it's because the food is good.

I want to visit Wilderness Lodge and Fort Wilderness during the day. I'm pretty sure we'll lunch at Geyser Point. I don't think we'll be hungry enough to also visit Territory Lounge, but I do think my husband would like some of the appetizers there.

If we are hungry enough for a dinner that night, I'm thinking Steakhouse 71. Do they have a lounge? They have lots of open reservations right now, but not sure how a walk up will work. Other option is any of the lounges at the Grand Floridian.

I feel like chances are high that we'll have leftovers that we can have for breakfast the next morning before we catch the bus to the cruise.

We'll be taking Disney transport after the cruise to Beach Club. I'm estimating an arrival time of around 11am and I've read over and over again that the food there is awful. If that's still the case, I'm thinking maybe Ale and Compass for a midday meal. I am planning on spending the day at Stormalong Bay, so if there's anything there that isn't awful, let me know as that will be a lot easier.

For dinner that night, I'm thinking the lounge at Flying Fish or joining the walk up list.

Anything that you'd recommend that isn't on this list? I'm only planning on visiting the resorts close to where I am staying, but if there's a compelling reason to go somewhere else, we will do that. I am planning on staying at Copper Creek in the spring. So, if we miss visiting Wilderness Lodge, we'll see it soon enough. It just sounded like the best midday food from what other people suggested to me before and I think it's on the same boat route as Fort Wilderness which would be cool to visit.

Steakhouse 71 has a lounge. I’m envious about your plans to dine at Flying Fish. It’s nice to visit TOTW lounge for a drink. The Enchanted Rose in GF is lovely and a short walk from Poly.

If you go to Enchanted Rose, there was a young girl there in April who was the manager of both Enchanted Rose and Narcoossee’s. I mentioned her in my resort survey. She is someone you want to see succeed at Disney. Her name is Mae.

S71 has a lounge but if you want to eat there you’re mostly stuck with the Lounge menu now. They used to serve the full menu in the Lounge but they stopped that a little while back.

Captain Cook’s at Poly has generic Disney breakfasts you can get like eggs and bacon.
Doesn’t help with gluten free but it also has great French toast—can be a bit of a wait for pick-up, but worth it, especially if you’re not rushing to rope drop.

Would you consider cake bake for breakfast while at BCV? The menu looks good but we never have time for it.

My simple reply, huge yes on Flying Fish (our Go To list) huge no on SH71 (our Never Again list). Good luck

Do you know if the lounge menu has the full dinner menu? I'm not finding a separate menu for the lounge.
AFAIK, you can order anything off of the regular menu when you sit in the "bar"/lounge area. There is also a beautiful viewing deck off of the back of the restaurant where you can sit and enjoy a beverage and take in the views, and even the fireworks!

OMG that menu looks great. I love afternoon tea, too. Now I regret asking for opinions because there are too many places that I want to eat at. 🤣
Please let me know if you make it to afternoon tea— I also enjoy it (and now my daughter does too) but not sure if I can justify 2-3 hours at WDW for it…but maybe they do a faster a service to turn tables?

I am going to the Roses of Gold Afternoon tea at Cake Bake in September, I can do a review. So far you have to email them to book, you cant book online and prepayment is required with a hefty tip. We are very excited.
