resort dining for non-resort guest

Hi. I'm new to this board. I was wondering if non-Universal resort guests can board the boat for Portofino from the parks to eat lunch there or if the boats are for resort guests only. At Magic Kingdom, for example, you can take the monorail over to the Grand Floridian for tea even if you're not a guest of a monorail hotel.

You can. They don't ask for a room key or id or anything, so if you are at the parks and want to head to a hotel for a leisurely lunch you can.

My recommendation isn't at one of the resorts. It's MYTHOS right in Islands of Adventure in the Lost Continent. FANTASTIC!!

I would have to agree. Mythos is rated the best themepark restaurant and everyone raves about the food and atmosphere. However, if you want to leave the park for lunch I would head to City Walk instead of a resort. They have great restaurants there. Among my favorites are Hard Rock Cafe, Margaritaville, and NBA City.

Tchop Chop at the Royal Pacific is pretty good. Robin had to drag me over there, but it was a good drag.

I've been wondering about this myself - we have only 1 day at USO (staying in a Disney resort), and I hoped to check out Portofino Bay by trying one of their restaurants (though probably for dinner, not lunch). Any recommendations? Would it be a hassle to get from a 5 PM dinner reservation back to the parking area?

I am completely USO ignorant and am thankful for this board!!!

Go to Mama Della's at the PBH. It gets rave reviews and there are menus to view on this site. As far as parking, you can leave your car in the parking lot and take the water taxi or walk to the resort. Then just head back to the lot after dinner from Citywalk which is where the water taxi will leave you. It's convenient.
