Hi everyone! On our upcoming August trip, we have a day planned which will start with allowing teens to sleep in, checking out of the POFQ, and end with checking into the Royal Pacific at Universal, no parks planned for that day. I have reservations at Emeril's Tcoup Chop for dinner, and am wondering what we should do for lunch. I thought it might be fun to check out someplace new at one of the other WDW resorts. We'll have a car, no dining plan, and have eaten extensively at and don't need to revisit POFQ, POR, CBR, or DTD. I prefer counter-service or food court to table service for this meal, and we'd like a place with some atmosphere and unique and tasty food options. Or, since we'll be on the move in Orlando, maybe there are some better offsite options? Please recommend your favorites, and thank you!

We always stay at CR and love the Contempo Cafe. I am addicted to the Marinated beef flatbread, it has goat cheese and onions and I can't wait for our next visit :woohoo:

we quite like the animal kingdom lodge for counter service it does a nice choice of african inspired dishes. Also really like the Grand Floridian counter service but not because of the food, which is very standard in choice, but because when you sit outside you have a lovely view of the MK castle...:)

I would also highly recommend going to the Contemporary and trying the Contempo Cafe. In my opinon they make the best Chicken Caesar Salad (I always have the dressing tossed in) and it's always made fresh each time you order it.

Capt Cooks at the Poly is very good, we love the lo mein, grown up grilled cheese and BBQ sandwich

Thanks for the great suggestions! I'll confer with the teens and see what appeals.

Another one for Captain Cooks at the Poly...love that aloha sandwich (pork bbq) and chips :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Yet another vote for Capt. Cook's. I love the stir fry and their chicken sandwich with pineapple salsa. We stayed there last month and had many of the offerings. Everything was fresh and delicious.
