Resort Choices

My wife and are looking into going on our second trip to Disney. We would like to go the first week of December as this will be our second anniversary and we went to Disney on our Honeymoon. With that said, we have narrowed it down to three choices. Could you help us and provide your feedback on why you would select one of these resorts over the other. One of the biggest things we are going for is the biggest bang for buck...which is no small task at WDW.

Animal Kingdom
Wilderness Lodge
Port Orleans (either one)

My choice would be WL. That is DW and I took our honeymoon. We would still be staying there today had we not outgrown it familywise (5 of us). At that time it will be decorated for Christmas and it is beautiful. The lodge has always had the feeling we are miles from anything yet right there at MK.

I would choose the WL, which is our second favorite resort (after the Poly) . The theming is great and the resort is so beautiful at Christmas time . I think the WL has the best Christmas decorations of all the resorts . The resort just has a homey feel with the huge fireplace in the lobby.....the whole ambiance of the resort is great. Have a great trip and happy anniversary

Wilderness Lodge, last 10 or so stays have been here, do like the Poly, but not at the going prices. We're MK people and WL has location, location, location that's idea and at a bargain price. We prefer a resort under one roof, WL has fantastic theming, it's very secluded amd quiet, which is helpful after a day in the parks just to get sawy from the hustle, bustle of the crowds. We like to boat over to FW, Crockett's Tavern for pizza and pitchers of beer a few evenings. All in all, a unique resort, priced right, AAA discount helps there, and a boat ride away from the MK, plus located on the lakes, can't beat the EWP each night.

I would also go with the Wilderness Lodge. Looking at the other two Resorts you listed overall I say the Wilderness Lodge has the best location, I like their theme and it's got some great restaurants.

Another vote for WL, since you are going at Christmas. The decorations are great and it seems more festive to be in a "log cabin" during the holidays. Also, did you realize that AKL and WL are deluxe hotels and Port Orleans is not? Deluxes have queen beds (not doubles),interior hallways, valet parking. If that's important to you, don't choose PO.

My vote goes out to AKL. Love the restaurants. Very unique with the savannah view. Doesnt share buses. It also is stunning at Christmas time.

I too agree AKL-- VERY romantic...ENJOY!!!!

I will be the odd one who says: Port Orleans either Riverside or FQ.
Both are very Romantic and close to DTD.
There is a Boat ride to DTD wihich is fun.
You can have a nice Carriage Ride around the Resort.
The Landscaping and Architecture are very pretty.
With the extra money you save have a nice TS Meal for your
anniversary, maybe even a few nice meals.
I would have cost us $600.00 extra to move up to AK for our last trip.
We really enjoyed POR but was able to go and
eat at Bomas and tour the AK hotel & grounds for free.

We just got back from AKL. The ambience at AKL would be much better for a
couple in love (IMHO). We thought it was better themed than WL and the animals were absolutely awesome. Sitting around the fire pit in the evening after a lovely meal at Boma or Jiko would be really nice. Good luck on your choice.
