My family (dw, dd (9), Twin ds (5)) and myself are trying to decide where to stay on our next disney trip. The last two years we have stayed at ASM with connecting rooms. This has worked well but a change may be nice. I think that we can stay at the Swan/Dolphin for the Gov't rate. I know that this is not a Disney resort. Is this a good choice, does it have the "Disney" feeling, would it be good for the kids? Would one of the other Disney resorts be a good choice. I don't think that we could afford to get 2 rooms at anything more than the value resorts. There would be 5 of us so that rules out most of the moderates. A deluxe would be nice but not at the expense of the rest of the trip. We go during value season. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

How about the Fort Wildrness Cabins? They sleep 6 and are not that expensive (about $200 but you could probabl get a cheaper rate) They are really nice And there is a lot for the little ones to do there!
Or some rooms a the AKL sleep 5 and you could get a great rate there. This is my personal favorite. LOVE the AKL!!!!

I was just going to mention Fort Wilderness! I'm trying to remember off the top of my head, but it seems the last discounts for a cabin were about $169 per night, although there have been better offers than that. We stayed there when I was 9....before they re-did the "trailers" into cabins and just loved it!

We went back to "visit" on our Christmas trip when we stayed at WL....I still loved it! If you have little ones, I think they'd really like it, it's very kid oriented.

I can't comment much on the Swan/Dolphin as we've never stayed there. However, it's my understanding that they are not Disney themed at all. From what I've read they are very nice though!

If you look at it closely most of the resorts are not "Disney" themed. They are themed to different areas and different time periods and there are small Disney touches like Mickey wake up calls and soap boxes with Mickey on them. Having stayed at the Dolphin and walked around Fort Wilderness I found them to be about the same as far as being Disney enough. We could see the Yacht Club, Beach Club, Boardwalk, Spaceship Earth, ToT from our room at the Dolphin. There was Disney info on the the table and TV an the resort was colorful and fun. You would most likely have a great time at the Swan or Dolphin but I suspect the kids might miss the All Star resort. :)

If you could get the gov. rate at the S/D it would be worth it just for it's proximity to so much! Quick boat ride to 2 parks, a short walk to the BW, and Fantasia Golf is across the street. :D
