I have reservations that were made with the annual pass holders discount. As I will only have my annual pass voucher and no annual pass when I check in will they honor the AP rate?

You can check in without having an activated pass. The worst thing that can happen is that they will request you stop by Guest Services sometime before your last day so they can see the validated AP. Sometimes they don't even ask to see it, but you'll be fine either way!

A CM at the Poly asked to see my AP when I checked in for my last stay. Needless to say I was pretty surprised since I had never been asked before. He looked it over very carefully (maybe I don't look very honest  ) and then typed something in the computer from the pass. My pass was already activated since we were just changing resorts but I would imagine that if you had the voucher they would allow you some leeway to have it activated.

We ordered our passes before we went last time. They mail you a voucher in the mail. If the people at the resort ask (and they probably will) you are just supposed to show them your voucher and tell them you are activating them soon. When we ordered ours over the phone, that is what we were told. That is also exactly how it happened! :D

I am one of those "unlucky" ones who has always been asked to present the AP at check-in. In my experience the actual pass as well as the voucher have been fine. For the Poly and CSR I only had the voucher. The one time I had to pick up my pass at GS, as the mail time and my arrival time were too close, I was asked to stop back in at ASMu to show the pass. It was explained to me that if I did not return I would be charged rack-rate for the room. Obviously I did stop back with my AP and the discount was applied properly.

Oops, that wouldn't be fun.

If you have used your AP they will not ask for it at check-in as the computer will show you have a valid AP, plus the rest of your WDW life story.

It's nice when checking in when the say "Welcome back and I see you won't be needing park tickets."

I just ordered my ap's and the cm said there was no way I could check in with the voucher. she said they changed the rules because I said thats all we had last december. We usually check in at odd hours like 3am I dont know what we are going to do, there is no way im going to payrack rate for the room, I guess I'll sleep in the car till I get them activated :D

Yes, you will need to have your activated APs when you check in. New rule... exceptions may have been made in some cases.

You can stop by DTD and have your passes activated on your way in. The Marketplace Guest Relations opens at 8:30 and stays open until 11 pm Sun-Thurs and 11:30 Fri-Sat, and the WestSide location opens at 9:30 am, and stays open until 11:44 seven days a week.

Hope that helps~

11:44???

When we checked in last week they asked to see our AP and we activated it last May.

They have been checking APs very carefully lately. They are mostly checking the back for the expiration date. Though we did not use ours for checkin (had a different discount), we did use ours several times to buy AP only pins this weekend and both times the CM took our APs and carefully checked all information including name and dates.

Ok so here is a question...with the new rule of having to have an activated pass to check in....what about those of us who can't go to DTD on the way in. We are taking Mears from the airport and I really don't want to come to my hotel, leave my bags and have to take a bus to one of the parks or DTD only to get my AP activated and come back to check in...that would be a huge waste of time. I don't know if this makes any difference or not but what if we have renewal vouchers and our old AP's as well...do you think they will allow us to check in with that being the case? I just have a hard time believing that they would make you trundle out to a guest services location only for the sole purpose of having an activated AP to check in.

...when will you be visiting WDW??

Hi,

Are annual passes (activated at the time of purchase) still available from the Disney stores at the Airport? If so, does anyone knows what the operating hours for the shops are there?

Maybe this is the way to go when reserving an annual pass code.
Since the cheap Florida Fun in the Sun tickets aren't available anymore here in Europe, I'm seriously thinking of buying a premium annual pass, since I'm used to visit the parks on more then 10 days (not all being full days) and the five plus options on a 10 day ticket aren't enough with those visits to Pleasure Islands, waterparks and Disneyquest.

Tnanks for anwering.

Yes you can buy them there (we bought ours there this June), but I'm not sure of the hours.

Hi all again,

Did a little research and I just found the hours from the shops and also the phone numbers of them. It was found easy at the website of the Orlando Intarnational Airport. Here I quote from the website:

Magic of Disney Apparel/Gifts West Hall 7:00-22:00 (407) 825-2360
Walt Disney EarPort Apparel/Gifts East Hall 7:00-22:00 (407) 825-2339

Those hours are not to bad. I will just claim my bagage and go upstairs again to the nearest Disney store before checking in with Mears. When I arrive at the hotel I will have an activated pass, no need to go first with a Disney bus to Downtown. The worst that can happen is that my plane have a long delay so that I arrive later.
Maybe its also a good idea to just book one night at normal rate and another reservation starting the next day with the annual pass rate. Which option I choose will depend on the scheduled arrival time of my plane.

I didn't even BUY my annual pass until after we had checked into the Poly. We had purchased 5 day hoppers for everyone but me (I am going back in April and wanted the AP).

WE arrived at the Poly at 2:00 and went over to the MVMCP at 4 and picked up our hoppers and bought my AP. No problem checking in earlier at the Poly at all...We have NEVEr had that problem and didn't have it this time, either. We checked in on Dec 17 - so I doubt you will have a problem - obviously we checked in after this 'policy change' so it must not be much of a change!

MSlangen, I think if you buy it at the airport or any Disney store you are buying a voucher that has to be activated or turned in for a activated date stamped ticket. If you follow your plan you still will not have a activated ticket at check in. I believe you can have it activated or just buy a AP at DTD on the way to your resort depending on your mode of transport to Disney from MCO. You might want to call them and verify. I'm just pulling this up from www.allears.net

If you are bringing a town car from the airport, there would be no way to stop and activate your pass. Disney is not about to NOT let you check-in because you just have your vouchers. As much as they like to see the activated pass, they are certainly going to make exceptions in this case. Your file will most likely be noted that you have 24 or 48 hours to show the pass. And if you don't, then they could change your room rate so that you have a hefty balance owing at check-in.

Until they mail the actual passes instead of vouchers, they have to assume that 99% of the people showing a valid voucher are actually going to activate it.
