I was wondering if someone could help me with a question. A friend told me that when you arrive at your resort after 8:00 the night before you are schedule to check-in, you can check-in at that time, for no extra charge. Does anyone know if this is true? Thanks for your help!

I don't think that is true. Many people arrive late the day before they are scheduled to check in and have to stay elsewhere or pay for the room.

Interesting idea but I don't think Disney allows it.

When you check in later in the day you do not have to pay for that days UHP. They will start it the next day if you want, but you do have to pay for the room. We check in late all the time.

Of course it's not true (other than UHP point). You're really only a few hours after the official check in time. Many people check in after a late flight or after being in the parks for the day. Some people elect to stay at an airport hotel the first night to avoid paying for the resort.

People checking in 8:00am sometimes get lucky and get a room without having to pay extra but certainly not much earlier than that.

I know my sister checked in to FW Cabins at 1 am and was not charged anything extra. Technically it was the day of her check in,but she arrived the night before after midnight.

The computers change over to the new date at approx. 3:00 - 4:00 am. Anything prior to that is the date before for check-in purposes. For example, if you have an arrival date of July 9th and you check in at 2:00 am on the 10th, it is still the 9th for the purposes of charging for your room. And if your reservation is for the 10th, the earliest you could check into your reservation would be 5:00 am or so. But you would not necessarily get a room at that time. "Official" check in time is 3:00 pm and Disney doesn't have to give you a room until that time.

If you check in at 5:00 am or 6:00 am or any other early time, you may get a room if there is one clean and ready. Otherwise, you will be waiting until later in the day for a room. The only real advantage to checking in this early is to get your room keys with the UPH, if you bought it. Then you could eat breakfast and hit the parks early.

I heard a story last Thanksgiving week about a young woman who arrived at a Disney resort at approx. 1:00 am for a reservation of that new date. She expected to be able to check in and get a room immediately. When she was advised that her reservation did not start until much later that day, she threw a screaming, cursing fit. She said that a friend told her that as long as the new date has started (after midnight), she could check in for no extra money. Not only was that incorrect, but there were no empty rooms even if she had wanted to pay for an extra night. She blamed Disney and said that "they" had ruined her vacation.

This young woman was certainly no young lady!
