Resort Check in Before using credits?

We had planned on hitting AK for Rope Drop and using a day's worth of credits before checking into our resort. Just heard that we might have to check in at the resort first. Shockingly enough, CMs are giving me different answers on what might happen. Anybody done this recently?

Thanks!

I have always made sure to stop by the front desk in person (but I've done online check in so that it will hopefully go more quickly.) I am curious if someone has a definite answer on this?

We have found that we have had to check in first to activate our dining plan. We had to do that this past May. I'm sure we will have to do this as well, when we return in December.

We did online check in. We had paid for the dining plan. I had asked member services if we had to go to the resort first to activate our dining plan prior to hitting the parks and was told that we did. This was this past May. I don't know if this has changed since then.

I don't have experience with this, but I remember reading a similar situation to this on the boards recently. Someone said as long as they did the online check in and attached their credit card they didn't have a problem using the DDP before actually going to their resort.

It would be nice if that is the case. Then you wouldn't have to make that extra stop. Maybe someone with recent experience will chime in here and let us know.

bands will be activated. You can now use them to enter the parks without going to your resort first. I am just seeking clarification on if the dining credits will also be activated.
