Resort Character M&G new rules?

I went down through and looked at questions other users asked, and apparently there were guests from other WDW resorts that tried to go to the pictured OKW M&G and were turned away. So, I guess you have to pick wisely now when going around holidays if you're aiming for a resort M&G with certain characters.

I'm a little confused, other than the Chip & Dale campfire sing-a-long at FW where would you meet characters at the resorts w/o having to pay for your event/meal anyway? (I don't count the Princess Promenade at GF.)

Around the bigger holidays, they'll have different characters out. Bullseye might meet at SSR, different Mickey's, Minnie's, Donald's, Goofy's meet at all the resorts in different attire that is somewhat specific to the resort they're at.

If you actually go back through that Twitter account I linked, you'll eventually see some of those "special" resort meet and greet characters.

They can randomly show up at resorts for lots of reasons ... holidays, weather, training ....

A couple years back we were staying at POP, but at DHS. DS2 saw (on twitter) that Launchpad was at POR. He hopped a bus, went over to meet him, hopped back all in about an hour. Said there wasn't many people there. He was excited because he watched that show when small.

This was Jan 28th so no specific reason to be there.

That's really too bad. We had fun meeting some of the resort characters about a week before Christmas one year. It was a fun unique experience. And the lines weren't bad at all.

Wow, a 2 year old did all that? ;)

The Tweet is of a photo from Old Key West. DVC, which includes OKW, does schedule character meet and greets specifically for DVC resort guests only. The coverage is provided by the Character Event team.

Tomorrow, beginning around 3:00, characters will be deployed to all Resorts for Halloween enhancements. The Holiday meets have never been exclusive to resort guests-only.

I guess I can see why, if it meant the lines were too long and resort guests couldn't meet them. I didn't even know that was a thing they did.

For DVC Resorts, it’s a perk for owners or those who rent points from owners.

For all other non-DVC Resorts, when characters are on resort property they’ll meet with any guests who want to meet them.

Just following up to confirm that ALL Halloween meet and greets at ALL Resorts were available for ALL visitors.

Also confirming that the one bad tweet linked above even confused some of the Character Event CMs who were deployed yesterday. They immediately went on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram to get the word out that the Holiday meets were open to all.

Did they get any explanation why the sign said it was for registered OKW guests only?

I know it was just on a tweet and normally never put credence when only one, but it is a photo of a Disney resort sign. :confused3

It was the Special DVC meet and greet offered the day before Halloween that was arranged and purchased by DVC. The DVC-only meets happen fairly often at OKW and SSR and being close to the Holiday was obviously confusing to many.

All Holiday enhancement meet and greets are provided by Disney and are available to all guests.
