Resort Changers--The Saga Continues.....

Baseball, swimming lessons, and Bible School (not to mention working also) has really kept my mind off resort changing.

Well here I go again? :sad2: I REALLY had my mind set on French Quarter due to the refurb with the queen beds and I fact that we love the French Quarter. BUT....is it really worth the extra money? :confused3 (it would help if a free dining or resort offer would come out)

Now, not only am I thinking about resort changing but also dining ressies. I work so hard to get the perfect dining schedule and book it exactly 180 days out. My problem with this now is I book Le Cellier (our favorite) for lunch due to dinner is 2 table services. However, I have reserved the Pirates League pirate: for my son the same day and we are now in time constraints. Also, I don't like the look of the lunch menu at Le Cellier.

The problem is 180 days is too long for me to think about things. I really need October to be here!!!

While having to re-plan everything is frustrating to say the least, I am screaming from the rooftop "I GOT INTO NURSING SCHOOL!!!":dance3: There was 700 applicants for 41 spots:scared1: I did not think I had a chance!
YAY:cool1: Enjoy your trip. I graduated from nursing school in 1997, and I still remember how tough it was. Congrats!!!!!! If you need any help...even just a "You're gonna make it" I'm here for ya!:thumbsup2
Hi! My name is Karen, and I'm a SRC (serial resort changer). This seems like the appropriate place for me to be :goodvibes:rolleyes:
:wave2: Welcome to the RC thread! Always room for more:goodvibes
BTW, pas130, who is a fellow RC on this thread, is a nurse - nurses are awesome:thumbsup2
Awwwww. Thanks. :goodvibes
Gracie is doing pretty well - think the lasix really helped. Thanks for asking pas130.

Have a great TGIF...unless you're a nurse and work weekends...if so, then bless your heart and thank you.:flower3:
I'm glad Gracie is hanging in.
Funny with the TGIF, I hate Fridays because it means I have to work...And last night stunk! My feet don't smell so sweet either:lmao:
Oh my gosh! Thanks guys! :grouphug: My DBF has never been to WDW and I want to make it as special as possible. The biggest thing is that he wants to work on saving his money for a house and wants to pay off his debt, which I totally understand. That is much more important than paying for a trip to Disney World. I told him I was more than willing to pay for everything because I want this to be special. I even said we could shorten the stay (5 days), but he says if he's going to go, he wants to do it right and go for longer (7 or 8 days) since we will be doing what we both want to do. My gramma and I didn't eat a lot when we went so I don't expect us to spend a lot of money on food. This definitely should be a mutual decision, like Minnie&Nana said, but I don't want him to start hating WDW before he even goes. He's already tired of me talking about this trip! I have a feeling I'm turning him into a DHDBF (Disney Hating Dearest BoyFriend)! :scared1:

I won't be able to do a split stay for this October trip, but I think I will go all out for the honeymoon if that does happen. I will postpone the honeymoon for as long as possible so I could stay at CR and go when I want. :cloud9: The bride's family has to pay for the wedding, right? Then I will get to decide on the honeymoon because my family paid for the wedding. :rotfl:

We decided to go Saturday - Saturday because my DBF doesn't want to request off a lot of days of work because October can be one of the busiest months for his job. So there's a change already.
AoA for F&W and CR for honeymoon:cloud9:

I hate it when life gets in the way of my Dis obsession:lmao: Can't really help with Port Orleans, but I can agree that 180 days leaves a lot of time to change...

I am tired too Minnie&Nana. But it's nice to see all my friends here on the RC!!!!

I'd have to pick POFQ, is for no other reason, the queen beds. Not having queen beds (if there are two people in one) would be a deal breaker for me. If you weren't on the DDP or you wanted to pay OOP, I would do Le Cellier for dinner. It's not worth two credits, but it is, IMHO, worth paying OOP.

 Good morning, everyone!

I hope you guys have a good weekend:goodvibes

pas130: Since you worked last night, why in the world are you up now? When do you ever get any sleep?

Are your kids out of school yet? DD's last day is the 21st, but it seems like her last day was weeks ago:laughing:

Christine: How are you holding-up?

Dani: Is it going to be hard to go back to work after the short break you've had? Do you feel like you got some rest?

Karen: You've really been a trooper not making any changes lately. We're proud of you:grouphug:

Hannah: What's the latest news on your 2012 trip?

Well, I was supposed to get out at 3am, but it was too busy:confused3 DH is at work, so I will sleep when the little ones nap, and the older 2 can play Wii. I hope...sounds like a good plan. :surfweb:I am off tonight since someone needed a switch earlier in the week. For a part timer, I worked 46 hours this week:confused:

Kiddos are done the 22nd-seems like this is the longest month ever. Maybe because of the heat, or all of the end-of-the-year activities. BTW I am still exercising (down to 3-4 times a week) and I lost 11 pounds total:)

46 hours in a week in a hospital must be the equivalent of 86 hours anywhere else.

:jumping1:
I am so proud of you for continuing with your exercising. I didn't want to ask anymore about it because if you weren't exercising, I didn't want you to feel bad. But, if you've lost 11 pounds then you definitely haven't given up on your cardio. You're fantastic - keep it up!

Work and getting time off when you want always interferes with Disney  I waited 20+ years from our first trip to go during the Christmas Season, finally almost made it in 2010 until our boiler went :sad2:

It is comendable that your DBF wants to pay off his bills and save for a house. DH and I were once that level headed, so much so we put off going to Disney until after we were married for 16 years with a house and 2 children.

Will the world end if you can not go next October no of course not. The main thing is you and DBF get on the same page work out a plan that works for both of you and if that is AOA for a week so DBF does not spend his entire vacation worrying about what it is costing then so be it. Put all that extra money you would have spent away for the future be it the house or a honeymoon at Disney.

I can not say if the difference between a value resort and a mod is worth the extra cost since I have never stayed at a value. I can tell you POFQ is one of my favorites, it is small and quiet, good bus service, a nice pool with a slide for the kids, decent food court and the water taxi to DTD

WDWKOOK, think I am going to stay for the queen beds. So French Quarter it is !!!!! (at least for right now)

Good morning everyone! :wizard:

I agree! I've stayed at both POP and POFQ, and POFQ is my favorite resort so far (may change my mind if I actually go through with current plans and stay at the Poly in September ). POFQ is so small and quiet, and the rooms are slightly bigger, but feel a LOT bigger. But POP is okay too - it's really fun! I always go by the rule that if staying in a lower category will let me go more often do it, if not, the best I can get it is! You'll have a fantastic time no matter where you stay! :wizard:

Perfect! You can just blame me when you change your mind:laughing:.

While I've never stayed at POFQ, I've stayed at "Dixie Landings" twice. The food court is great and I love all the lush landscaping. You can also take the boat to DTD. And, don't forget about all those beignets - yum!

Good morning everyone! :wizard:

Al and Kate's Mom, I would love to stay at the Poly! Hope you have a great time! Maybe one day for the Taylor's

Stopping by to say

For some reason I get a trillion email notifications for other threads, but none fot this thread and there's waay more to catch up on here.:thumbsup2

Going back to read what I've missed.

pas130 - sorry you have to work today and sounds like a pedicure might be the next best thing in your life?;)

Everyone who is not working, hope you are having a nice weekend!:goodvibes

(Gracie is still coughing...and as I try to get the valium, enalapril, lasix, vetmedin and torbutrol into her and she still coughs if she exerts herself a little or takes a drink of water....I wonder....is this a good quality of life for her? When she is not coughing she is happy, but if she does any little thing, the coughing starts up again...my heart is breaking...what to do....what to do...)

Most definitely! lol but after next week I will be training some of the tellers for an open position where I am so really they will be doing all the work. I've been using my work hours to catch up on my reading. I got a ton of great books for my iPad so I'm well entertained and it's keeping me intellectually occupied.

In 2 days I will be doing the double digit dance!!!!

I am so sad to hear that Gracie is still having a hard time, I know your heart must break each time she starts coughing. Saying a prayer for Gracie that the meds kick in and maybe relieve her coughing soon. As for the quality of life if she is happy and not in pain if she were mine I would try the meds for a little while longer. Letting go is so hard.

Well, for THIS trip, which I've only been planning since last week, I've changed from POFQ to BWI and now to the Poly. I think I'll stick, but I always say that. :rolleyes1

This seems like a really fun group of people! :flower3:

Hi Karen! I'm new here too by just a few days. So you've been planning for only a week and you are on resort number 3??? You definitely are in the right place! Enjoy, and make lots more changes in the next 3 months. It's 51% of the fun!!!! All your resorts are great choices, IMO!

I really like the PO area. And like WDWKOOK said, queen beds are a must with 2 to a bed for my preference also. DH thinks POFQ and POR are boring, and he absolutely loves POP, though. He goes gaga over it. :upsidedow Do you think he really knows these resort prices and just isn't telling me?? :rotfl2:

Thank you so much for saying this - so many tell me I am waiting too long, but she is still such a happy little thing. The lasix definitely helped with the honking cough - she now mostly coughs after she takes a drink of water or if she gets excited...but then sometimes it escalates.
Anyway...thank you!:hug::flower3:

You will know when its time. No it won't be 100% sure, BUT you will know. My heart breaks for you. Gracie will help lets you know. Did you ever see the Rainbows bridge website? It really helped our family, esp me, after we lost Brandy.

Oh, yes, I know the Rainbow Bridge - we adopt seniors now to honor our our Cocker Spaniel and Mini-Schnauzer we had as puppies crossed at 9 & 11 yrs, so have been down this road too many times...but it never gets easier and it is always a difficult journey - that is why I am so grateful for the kind words and support.:flower3:
