Resort Changers--The Saga Continues.....

Exactly! My family (and the friends I've been able to convince ;)) have had many Poly stays, mostly in Tokelau (which I am finally no longer calling Maui lol), but I don't think Rosie would go for the Poly. It's okay...it's just that I can stay at Poly or GF happily without CL (no interest in Poly CL), but an EPCOT resort is a different story. Other than the walk from IG, which is fabulous, the Epcot resorts are kind of boring. Only had 3 stays over there though (BC, BWV & 5 Dolphin stays). :confused3

Anyone here recommend any of the EPCOT resorts? what do you love about it? Suggestions?:goodvibes
Oh, I am NOT the person to ask about Epcot resorts. I am a MK resorts gal. I booked YC/CL last summer for me and DD and after only one night I had to go back to the CR. And this year, I booked a Deluxe BC room and then switched to YC/CL and finally to Poly.

I feel like you do about the Epcot resorts. I don't like that SAB is smack dab next to that really crowded sidewalk. The MK resorts are more spread out and have more property and I love the fact that there's a lake and beach behind each resort. Very cozy with more foliage - I prefer that. I do LOVE the idea of walking to Epcot, but I also love walking and/or monorailing to the MK and Epcot.

The major reason we liked staying at the Boardwalk Inn is because the service from their Club Level Cast Members was simply amazing and much better then we could have expected. We also like the their theme, plus it's great having walkways to Epcot and Hollywood Studios. Now this is coming from someone who had only stayed at the Magic Kingdom Resort Area for all my previous onsite stays while at WDW.

I remember when your family first stayed there (last year?) and was looking forward to hearing if you enjoyed it there, especially know how much you've enjoyed CR CL. Yours and Karen's reviews sparked my interest in staying CL at BWI. I'm not usually a CL fan, but BWI sounds fabulous. We've stayed at BWV, but I'd very much like to try BWI CL. Will keep fingers crossed for a good code next year.

Thank you!:thumbsup2

Yep, this is what happened last year when were planning a Girls Trip with Karen. We'd book BC Deluxe, then switch to YC CL (BWI CL was not available), then GF SL, finally Poly CL. lol Unfortunately, I had unexpected major surgery and the trip had to be cancelled.

As much as I'd like to maybe stay there again, I'm an MK gal for the same reasons you mentioned. BUT my friend LOVES EPCOT and I know she would love staying over there....then again, who could not be happy at the Poly!?! Nothing better than a water launch to the MK, the short walk to TTC for the express EPCOT monorail, a short walk or monorail ride to GF and the water launch to MK then a stroll over to CR...or monorail it over....sigh....:cloud9:

Thanks!:goodvibes

(p.s. Must remind myself that one of the reason for staying at an EPCOT resort is that I can rent points from a friend and it would be very afforable - why doesn't that seem to make a difference to me.:rotfl: )

Sorry I haven't been here all that much! I've been working the past 7 days straight and I have been exhausted since they have been 7-8 hour shifts. I'm going to update my TR tomorrow since I have the day off. I'm waiting for August so I can book a room for October for the Food and Wine Festival. Though I really want to go back in May again, but I want my boyfriend to try beers that he has never tried before. Such a hard decision. :sad1:

I just bought a Disney World magnet on EBay because I forgot to buy one at DW. My family collects magnets and that was the one thing I forgot to buy. It was only $8 and free shipping. Totally made my day after having a terrible day at work. :sad2:

I was going to ask where you planned on staying in October since DH and I are going for F&W then I realized you meant 2012 when the waiting for Aug to book sunk in :rotfl:
I think I would aim for October since you have been in May before

So as I was reading the PP, I HAD to call Disney to see if I could apply a discount to our stay, and then asked about how much would it be if .............................................WAIT FOR IT...................Polynesian:lmao::lmao::lmao: We are staying Garden View, but it's too funny, because my original, original resort when I started planning this trip was Poly, I have come full circle. Am I finally done?:rotfl: I kinda defeated the purpose of going with a value to save money over WL Deluxe room. But I'm still saving a little money:goodvibes Not telling DH, no way!

Congrates on the Poly!

Awe! I'm sorry! I couldn't afford to do it this October.

I was also planning on going to MNSSHP because I want to dress up as Alice. :rotfl: How's the weather in October? Will it be cooler than May?

August 31st - September 4th and the resorts I was looking at was the Contemporay and Grand Floridian.

Thanks! I found them mentioned on your other thread, but couldn't get anything other than very $$$ for you. :sad1:

Now for my last three days it came up with GF SL CL for 1335. I think I'll stick with my little over 600.00 ressie. ;)

Yeah for the magnet, Boo for work, and Yeah for October! :goodvibes

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: Too funny! I've been pricing out Poly myself, but that one ended up at 1600 for CL TPV. :rolleyes1

Minnie&Nana I know, YAY:cheer2: The computer was driving me nuts, some weird glitch. Luckily the CMs are pretty awesome  Too funny cause Sunday I was on expedia looking possibly for offsite condo, and the Disney rooms came up with discounts, so I figured something was in the works.....The CM said to me today, WOW Jeanette, you've made a lot of changes, I am sure you will love the Polynesian:rotfl:

kaffinito How's the summer plans coming? Fla or HHI?

Looks like WDW with US/IoA during our OKW stay. :goodvibes

Here are the details and here is the booking link:

http://bookwdw.reservations.disney....s/processEngine?process=false&pageRender=true

I plugged-in the CR for 8-31 to 9-4 for you and there are no CL rooms, but it is $1481 for a Tower/BLV room and $1616 for a Tower/TPV for 3 adults.

The GF is $1886 for a std. (SL) CL room, which I think you and your parents prefer. There is also a RPC/TPV room for $2561.

I had to click-on the details of the offer on the special offers page many times before it would actually go to the booking page. Hope this info. helps:goodvibes

That's what I got too, except that I didn't see RPC. :) Good thing too! :teeth:

I LOVE THIS THREAD!!!!!

I feel so at home here. ;):grouphug:

I don't even have anything booked yet and my poor friend's head is swirling from all the resort possibilities I keep mentioning!

Our budget is going to be very tight....BUT.....if I save like crazy, maybe I could surprise her with BC or BWI.....my choice would be Poly or GF, but EPCOT is her favorite park. Thing is, for me, no place compares to Poly or GF. What to do??? Not a fan of those small BC rooms and the step out balconies are awful!!

Must admit I would definitely consider BWI CL if another of those 45% codes came out like 2009....wild dream, I know.:rolleyes1

 Glad your here! :goodvibes

Awe! I'm sorry! I couldn't afford to do it this October.

I was also planning on going to MNSSHP because I want to dress up as Alice. :rotfl: How's the weather in October? Will it be cooler than May?

We went once the first week of October and I do not recall it being hot only more crowded than we had anticipated, lots of school groups. I am hopeing for cooler weather , we switched from late Sept-Oct to mid-October but from what I have read weather in October is unpredictable some years cool and other years 90+ :scared1:

As far as May I have only been the last week of May into June and it was hot.

You will be so perfect going to MNSSHP as Alice.......what are you planning for your BF? We are still not sure about going to MNSSHP , DH is not thrilled about it :sad2:

By the way the other day I checked our dates for CR and there it was my TPV room, I should have stayed there and not switched since after discussing it with DH I had to admit he was right that since our main thing this trip is F&W the BC is a better choice plus BC is cheaper by $100 a night. I need to hit the lottery :rotfl:

So once I officially book next years trip when the rates come out, will I be shunned as being no longer a resort changer..LOL:lmao:

 No way! :goodvibes

Of course not! Once you book, we hang around hoping you might need to tweak something and then we provide valuable FREE advice and moral support. Oh, and many hugs:grouphug: BTW, you can even book before the rates come-out and they will automagically adjust - so I've heard.

:thumbsup2

I will admit that the construction talk got me a little worried, however from the recent posts on the Yacht Club/Beach Club FAQ thread it seems like it's almost over and not around the Club Level room areas. Plus when I asked my Dad if he wanted to possibly change he said no let's keep the Beach Club reservation to do something different. He also said since were only staying there for 4 nights if there was any other construction it wouldn't be a big deal.

I was at the GF during a refurbishment of the outside of the main building, and it really didn't affect my stay at all. :)

Exactly! My family (and the friends I've been able to convince ;)) have had many Poly stays, mostly in Tokelau (which I am finally no longer calling Maui lol), but I don't think Rosie would go for the Poly. BWI natch. ;) There is a LOT going on at the EPCOT area resorts. As much as I love Poly and liked GF I think there is a lot more going on at the EPCOT resorts. To me the MK area resorts are boring. :)

See I don't like BC/YC either, and SAB doesn't appeal to me either. Too big, too busy and too crowded. I'm a quiet pool kind of gal. :)

But I do love the EPCOT area. There is nothing like a stroll into WS for a nice meal at Bistro and then a nice leisurely stroll back. Very romantic and very peaceful. :)

I forgot about those points. :goodvibes It would make the trip more affordable, and you would like it over there.

There is a lot to be said for that area, and I like BWI as much as I like Poly or AKL. :)

Awe! I'm sorry! I couldn't afford to do it this October.

I was also planning on going to MNSSHP because I want to dress up as Alice. :rotfl: How's the weather in October? Will it be cooler than May?

Too cool! I hope you get to do it! :)

:rotfl2: You and me both! :cool1:

GF SL is looking mighty tempting. (Only $555 more than AKL ;))

Thanks! I found them mentioned on your other thread, but couldn't get anything other than very $$$ for you. :sad1:

Thanks for looking and I just wish I was able to see the price per night with the discount like I have been able to in the past and not just what the grand total would be.

kaffinito said:

I remember a few years ago when we stayed at the Contemporary when the 4th floor was being renovated, which would sound a lot worse from the Tower rooms. Plus those were long stays so that's why if some construction was happening at the Beach Club it wouldn't be a big deal.

So Changers :goodvibes

Should I keep AKL CL (which I love)

Or upgrade to GF SL CL with the discount for $555.00 more?

I'm hesitating due to having to buy tickets for the kids, and tickets to US/IoA, and food for meals. :upsidedow

So which one? I would save a lot of $$$ by not having to buy meals if we stayed at GF CL, but then again I would save some by staying at AKL CL too.... They have a really good variety of offerings at AKL CL...

But, then you have to figure out the overall cost of Zebra Domes, (a lot of Zebra Domes) and the cost of having to eat at Boma and at Jiko...

I'm confused. :confused3

Maybe I will go for the second week of October or something like that. I'm ok with it being hot, but would definitely prefer it being cooler, but I will be in Disney so I will be fine. It's better than being in Chicago. ;)

Thanks! If I have my boyfriend dress up, I'd have him be Robin Hood because he reminds me of the Robin Hood from Robin Hood: Men in Tights. He's got the beard and mustache. :rotfl:

Go with the TPV! It's awesome! :rotfl: But I agree with your husband. Stay at BC because your main focus is F&W.

Now I have to decide which resort I'm staying at! :scared1: This is going to be a nightmare. I'd go with a deluxe, but I would need a very generous PIN. :rotfl: Something close to MK and Epcot because we would be going to those the most.

:worship: OK, you've officially been crowned the Queen of Changes. I saw your post first on the Poly Pics. thread and was confused, so I looked at your ticker and saw that Poly, which was GF, which was WL which was AS was now POLY! (Did I get that right?) Is DH totally happy with this? Are you staying CL or still doing the DDP? Well, I wish our dates overlapped, but I'll be sure to taste test those Lapu Lapus for you;). Congratulations on the Poly:hug:
OMG, I have lost track, so I'm so impressed you've kept up:thumbsup2 Here's what I recall, starting from the beginning, before I found the RC thread-my home....Poly TPV CL, BLT, BWI CL, GF, BLT;), GF, WL, ASMo, Poly GV. And a bunch of split stays. This was originally an all WDW trip, then all Universal, then Universal and St. Pete Beach, now all 3!:rotfl:
I was VERY tempted to do CL, but we are staying DDP. I will have my first LapuLapu EVER, DH is SO excited:banana: I had no idea! He says I never let him pick the hotel, and he's very happy with my choice, I kinda fibbed on the price, he thinks the discount was only for Deluxe hotels;)

Congrates on the Poly!
Thank you!!!!!!

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: Too funny! I've been pricing out Poly myself, but that one ended up at 1600 for CL TPV. :rolleyes1

Looks like WDW with US/IoA during our OKW stay. :goodvibes
That's great to hear! It killed me NOT to book CL, you can totally come hang with me at the Poly. And you can visit us at Portofino too, take a midday break in our room, I did change to 2 rooms instead of the suite-cheaper with the AP rate and more room (DS 10 decided he wants a bed to himself now):rotfl2: Regardless, I really hope to at least run into you once so we can meet:goodvibes

So Changers :goodvibes

October is cooler than May, but you can get some hot days in there. Definitely should get some swimming time in:thumbsup2 I love Halloween (second only to Christmas, but a very close second) Our WHOLE family LOVED the Halloween party:love:

A co-worker's DH just passed VERY unexpectedly (early 40s), and it just reaffirms my "live for today" theory...Too bad my theory keeps me poor:confused3 Would DH agree to at least a 1-2 night TPV staypopcorn::

I am just jealous that you all CAN change and change again...if I was changing...it would be between the different VALUE resorts! lol By looking at the mods, I didn't feel they were really worth the $300 or so it would cost to upgrade for our trip...and the Deluxes...well, yeah, not in our price range...not even with a big discount...because it would still be HUNDREDS more than our value trip! Maybe one day I will book BC through points...if I can convince my DH that it is worth going more than once!

Karen, knowing how much you love AK CL that sounds like the way to go this trip. If you were to book GF CL (SL or RPC?), well, I was thinking if it was SL then you'd be longing for RPC and looking for that everyday...which would be yet more $$$$$$$$. :rotfl: You've always spoken so highly of AK CL and how much you love it there...and the Poly....so my vote goes for AK CL....right now anyway.:thumbsup2

When I first came over to this thread a few weeks ago I said that CL holds no interest for me....of course, hanging around y'all that is changing.:rolleyes1 GF CL SL does kind of interest me, but view is a BIG part of my resort stay and SL does not have the best views. BWI CL - have heard so many rave reviews that I'd definitely give it a try, but again, all that $$$ and the possibility of a crummy view.

Other CL's hold no interest b/c I eat VERY plain food and so would probably not enjoy the offerings.

For 2 adults, who are planning on the DDP (cuz my friend loves it! :)) - would CL even make sense? We could do QSDP and pay OOP for TS.:confused3

Everyone feeling well this week? Who has a trip coming up soon?:woohoo:

How WONDERFUL you are going with your family to WDW!! Your first trip! So exciting! ( I was a CM too , about a hundred yrs ago). It IS very costly these days - it was a bargain to stay at the Poly when my kids were young at just $79 ngt, so we stayed there and CR every trip. A 3 day tkt for 11 and under was $27 and change - only the MK was around back then, but the tkt included 3 days at MK, Discovery Island and River Country - the latter two no longer exist. When EPCOT opened that October (our first trip was late August), we went back for a long weekend in March and tkts still had not gone up too awfully much.

Since POP opened I've stayed there 5 times with friends - and those were due to budget, but I always had a wonderful time. Some people love the values - kaffinto was at ASSp in march and very much enjoyed it. So, please, if you are changing between Values, welcome!! :goodvibes It is absolutely not unheard of around here!!!

I've never been one to stay too long either - even when the kids were young 6 ngts was enough for us and 7 felt one ngt too long. Now I usually go for 4 ngts, but now and then 5 ngts. So it is quite different and easier when sharing the cost with a friend.

I know you will have such a wonderful time no matter where you stay. ::yes:: Many will suggest that the Moderates do feel so much nicer than a value - much prettier, more relaxing, much nicer pools. FQ and POR have the boat to DTD... so it might be worth considering. The mods really are quite a step up from a value, if your budget allows.:thumbsup2

The nice thing about changing is you can make payments, there's no interest to finance your trip. And no charge to change (as long as its at least 45 days before your trip) And just to add....we LOVE the values. My first Deluxe stay was last year, and it ruined me. We used to own DVC, and that was nice, but our family grew too large, and we didn't come close to having enough points. There's 4 (soon 5) value reorts to switch between by the way:rotfl:

And :welcome:

I could not stay at AKL without doing breakfast at Boma, loved it when I did stay there so CL would not save me much $ as most seem to mention they save by haviing breakfast at the lounge. I guess if the CL is better(food wise) at GF I would pick that.
We were upgraded the year we stayed at YC from standard to CL and DH and I never did go to the lounge, my two DS did a few afternoons when we came back to the resort but we still went for our TS breakfast each morning and at least one more TS meal each day. Crazy huh? :rotfl:

I so have to agree with you about "live for today" You just never know, we lost our youngest son in 2009 who would have thought that our trip that previous March before would have been our last together.

DH has no desire to do a split stay he likes to check in and settle in for the duration of our vacations
