Resort Changers--The Saga Continues.....

I have 2 reservations, one for an earlier week at CR and one at BC for a later week. I was at BC not BCV but I'm thinking that after being at RPR we would need some space. I haven't canceled my CR reservation yet. The only think that I keep thinking about is whether or not I should switch to YC and save a few dollars. I think that a washer/dryer would be very good. I need pros/cons of YC vs. BCV. I want a full balcony and I would need a daybed in the room also.

Well for guaranteed space, why not go for broke and try for a one bedroom at BCV? :goodvibes

I'm a resort changer...big time. Now that we are DVC it's even worse! I constantly tinker with my reservations. My current december trip started as 3 nights Jambo House December 4,5,6 then I added on 2 nights prior at SSR December 2 & 3, then I changed the first night to Boardwalk Dec 2, kept 2nd night SSR Dec. 3 and nights 3,4,5 still at Jambo. Then I changed nights 1 and 2 to OKW. Then yesterday I called and switched OKW to the end of the Jambo stay instead. Then this morning I tried to get Jambo value 2 bedroom for Dec. 3! Which they didn't have so...waitlist! So we are currently traveling Dec. 4-9. I need an intervention! UGH!!

:scared1: That's a lot of switching! :)

You're in the right place. So where do you really want to stay? :)

I am seriously looking at CR MK view for the first part of our split stay. I wanted to stay at BC...looking at the pics it is so beautiful but DS loves MK and says Epcot is his least favorite:scared1: I told him I would consider it, so I have not changed as of yet, but I am seriously thinking about it. I wish August hurries up and come, so I will not be able to change anymore:

CR is a lovely and fun resort. The views there are great too. :goodvibes

Hey y'all I'm in an indecisive mood today. I'm probably gonna end up switching soon but I don't know where. There's no better option then BWV for the time that I'm going but...I feel the need to switch. And DD asked if we could leave the day after Christmas so her friend could go.

So maybe you could switch once you change your dates? :cool1:

Thanks! It just felt surreal to eat a meal without yelling at DS or cutting his food or nursing Lily. It was WEIRD! :rotfl: I even had a whole half of a beer. I was aiming for a whole one since I knew I wouldn't have to nurse right away but geez it went straight to me head. I was sweating like a pig in a slaughter house!

Sorry I've been MIA. My friend just left last night, though I'm sure he will be back before returning to Florida. Lily has a doctor visit this morning but I'm going to reschedule it because the weather is just yucky and we had a rough night so I'd rather let her rest and be happy today than to wake her and bring her out in this to get a shot and be more cranky.

I hope you and the Princess had a better day today.

I know what you meant about it being surreal without your kids. Men are great at the guilt calls. :headache:

The best advice I was given when DS18 was younger, was to make sure I went out by myself for adult time at least twice a month. Taking care of a special needs kid is exhausting, and a parent needs to take care of themselves in order to take care of their kids.

Wish I could help with BC/YC...it is nice to see you. I was working then caught the stomach bug yesterday. I think that it would be nice to stretch out in a villa at the end of the vacation:thumbsup2

kaffinito I can't take the mommy guilt:confused3 But mom needs more nights out, so I will try to get him used to it;)

I hope you're feeling better!

Good Morning!! I've been reading, but y'all are fast and I've not kept up with the fun banter!! :goodvibes

BUT now that I have a trip in the planning - AT LAST - I can try to join in because without a doubt there will be some resort changing before we can even make a ressie.:thumbsup2

My friend and I celebrate a huge birthday next year (not 40, that was long time ago :rotfl2:) so we decided there was no better way to celebrate than a trip to Disney.:cool1: Her birthday is March and mine November, so we decided on the 2nd wk of Dec 2012 - a looong time to wait and room for a lot of resort mind changing. :rotfl:

The plan is to rent points at BWV, but my friend with points to rent does not own at BWV which means 7 mos out, so likely impossible. :sad2: So what to do? Try to find a DISer on the rent board and trust someone I don't know...or??? No idea what the "or" would be. HELP!!

My birthday friend has only stayed at POP on a pkg, usually free dining - fits her budget - but I so want her to experience a deluxe for our celebration. I've stayed at all levels, but by far more deluxe over the last 30 yrs and countless trips - almost every resort (no AS, OKW or YC).

Suggestions?!?! TY! Hope you all are doing well! :goodvibes

I agree with the suggestion that you have your friend book a ressie for cash at BWV at 7 months. It will save you a lot of $$$. ;)

Have fun planning! :goodvibes

Karen, do you mean by "cash", booking with her DVC discount? I thought everyone meant for me to book through Disney like any other resort. If with her DVC, how does that work? I thought it could only be done that way if the owner was going to be a guest too. She is not traveling with us.

Also, is it paid at the time of booking or a deposit, then the rest paid on arrival? I've only done this once, but it was 2008 and don't recall the details b/c it was 2 ngts points and 2 ngts cash.

Thanks much!! :flower3:

A 'changing' thread! Nice!!

Hello everyone, I'm Brea and I am also a resort changer. :rotfl2:

Since booking my Sept '11 trip, I've switched from CSR to the Poly to CSR.. NOW I am switching my entire '11 trip to Sept '12!! We found out we are having our fourth baby in October so my Sept trip is a NO GO.

DH said we can make it an even better trip next year, so my plan now is to stay at the BC! IF I get a pin.. if not, then it will be AoA or who knows where!! :lmao:

:welcome: And congrats! Well wishes for a healthy, uneventful pregnancy:goodvibes AoA looks so cool....There's plenty of us here to help you through all the changin;)

I HATE being sick:headache: I was fine yesterday. DD 6 and 4 were sick (maybe the virus knew that and gave me the day off:lmao:) Then DS 10 had his orchestra concert last night, it was very nice -he plays Cello, next year Saxophone:scared1:. This morning, I'm back to the full blown vomiting...At least Sunday I got sick at work, the benefit of being a nurse, I had 2 bags of IV fluids and medicine for the vomiting:thumbsup2 Oh well, at least I'm off tonight...just gotta make it til 3....Sorry for venting. I am miserable when I'm sick:sad1:

disneydreamin247 When did you reschedule the Princess' appointment? It seems this rain will not let up:sad2:

Off topic but funny, my DD Kate turns 5 on the 28th, DD Brianna turned 4 Friday the 13th...Kate has been so puzzled since Brie's Bday that they are both 4 years old right now. Kate's also a good 6 inches taller as well. Has to be the most complicated conversation I have had with a 4 year old:rotfl: Then Gramma mentioned they are Irish twins, and I had to explain they are NOT twins:rotfl: I'm rambling, must be the dehydration...

Hello! I just stumbled onto this. We're doing our first stay at a WDW resort in October, and I've already switched once. We will be coming from cruise ship directly to theMagic Kingdom park only ... only for one day ... and for the MNSSHP.

So, I booked the Contemporary Resort, thinking we'd check our bags, walk to the MK and stay all day from about 11 until the end of the party. I booked pirates league for us and a sit down dinner before the party to rest a bit (with three little ones). It seemed silly for me to buy park tickets for 5 of us for just a few extra hours (when MNSSHP tickets allow you to enter at 4pm). And, I'd be paying for a resort we'd never see. So ...

I switched to the Beach Club. The plan as it stands is to go from cruise ship to the Beach Club. Relax at Stormalong Bay. Eat at Hurricane Hannahs. Change into costumes and be on the bus to MK between 3 and 3:30 pm. But now, I'm wondering if this was not the best idea. I worry that the bus after the party (assuming we'll stay until the end) will be a huge crowd and a long wait with pooped little ones. And, I worry I'll just be checking my watch constantly before we get to the Magic Kingdom ... wanting to be there!

So, if comes down to ... do we want to swim or do we want to ride rides (for an extra 3 or so hours and $400 plus dollars)? I'll probably be changing my reservations again before this is all over with.

**On a side note, we are booked at the Poly the whole day before our cruise so we can watch the fireworks from the beach, eat at Ohanas and swim at the Volcano pool. That reservation hasn't changed.

I say go back to CR because you are going to wish you did if it is crowded. My gramma and I stayed at CR last week and we were grateful for the 10 minute walk to CR because of how crowded it was at the monorail and the buses when the park closed to the public. I wish I stayed 'til 2am though. :sad1:

I would go with the Contemporary because from what you said the majority of your plan is to be at the Magic Kingdom. So because they are the only resort with a walkway that goes there it would make the most sense to stay there.

I'll admit, I've done this twice this year. Before our cruise in March, we originally booked a one night stay at POP. Then Disney opened the 35% off rooms so we switched to the Beach Club, and we were so glad we did. We then planned a trip last minute trip for Memorial Day Weekend and at the time the only resorts that had reservations in the Epcot area were the YC. Then a reservation opeend at the BC and we swtiched to that. Albeit, they are right next door to each other but DF loves the Beach Club.

Why not book the BC the day before the cruise and the Poly after the cruise since you will be going to the MNSSHP after the cruise? Then you can have the best of both worlds. I'd want to be close to the MK if I had tickets to the party. WELCOME TO THE WORLD OF RESORT CHANGERS! :welcome:

Hello all - I have had fun reading all this. I am not up on all the aconyms, so I have been a little confused. Anyway, I am indecisive by nature, so I am sure I will change a few times.

I stayed at Disney at the WL at the end of August. It was Me, DH, DD5, and DD 18months plus grandma, grandpa, and Uncle Matt. We had the 35 or 40% off the room - can't remember which it was - it was better than the free dining.

We said we would skip a year and I said fine, since next time, I wanted to book far enough in advance to not deal as much with dining issues - I wanted a shot to plan it all out and call 180 plus 10 ahead.

ANYWAYS :rolleyes1 - all have decided now that Disney is the best place to go again in August - at least there is free dining considering we had a nice room code that expired in February.

We currently have POFQ booked - thoughts of this over POR or the other moderates? What about the Storybook rooms - anyone know if these cost extra or if they are the luck of the draw?

Looking forward to seeing all the room hopping!

disneydreamin247 Funny with the beer. Both my friend and I had to wait 2 hours for the buzz to wear off:lmao:

I felt like a wild woman drinking that half a beer! :rotfl:

No changes. Though I admit to looking at many photos of the Treehouse Villas yesterday. I didn't realize that they're priced about the same as Poly CL, but they're 3 bedrooms! Really hard to rationalize for 3 people and I just can't stay at a resort that I can't walk or monorail to the MK or Epcot, but I loved looking at the photos and DH said it would be perfect someday when there is more than just the 3 of us.

How are you doing? Have you tweaked any plans? Does your trip seem like it was a million years ago?

I missed you guys, too:grouphug:.

disneydreamin247: So the Dr.'s appt. was just a well baby check? Everything is OK, right? Are we getting close to when you have to go back to work? I just want to be prepared if we stop hearing from you as often. We still expect photos though. Working won't be a valid excuse:snooty:

It was just a well check but now she seems to have a cold so we're going in tomorrow night. Everyone is getting sick. I hope I can avoid this one!

i'm going back next Wednesday. You'll still hear from me! I have my iPad and hotspot ready to go. You may hear from me more often. :rotfl:

I'd definitely recommend the CR, but we prefer the Bay Lake view. Just our personal preference. Oh, and just because you've checked-in DOES NOT mean that you can no longer switch - I've done it twice:rolleyes1
Been there, done that as well! :thumbsup2
I hope you and the Princess had a better day today.

I hope you're feeling better!!! I hate that nasty flu I had. It was the sickest I have ever been in my life and I hope to never experience it ever again!!!

This rain is horrible. I hate this weather. It seems like every May-end of June we get this horrible relentless rain. GO AWAY!!!

I'm totally going to try that nap thing:rotfl: DD is in Kindergarden orientation this morning, it's so quiet here with just 2 kiddos:sad1: The vomiting stopped, but I'm living on Immodium

Thanks!

Can't help with the mods. I've only been to CBR. If you ever need us to clarify the acronyms just ask:thumbsup2 And:welcome:I lost count on my August changes back in 2010:lmao: Now I'm changing my 2012 trip;)

:welcome: to the crazy world of resort changing!

First, here is the link to the DIS's acronym dictionary:

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1660743

Second, I don't think the Storybook rooms will be open in August '11:

"All 3,056 rooms at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort, including the 512 new Royal Guest Rooms, are undergoing a hard goods renovation that will be complete by June 2012."

Like the Pirate rooms at CBR, they will cost more than a "non-themed" room.

pas130: You have had a miserable week. I bet you are just sick of being sick. Shouldn't this be out of your system by now? I'm worried about you:guilty:

disneydreamin247: I did not want to hear that your DD is sick:sad2:. I hope it's just a simple cold or allergy. Is she able to sleep or is she fussy?

Hannah: Did you get to do any resort recon? Did you visit the Poly or GF with Gramma?

Kaffinito: I hope you're doing well. Is DS still "visiting" a lot? Maybe he could get the BB hoop that DS10 wants and then he can go over and play BB with DS18?

Wild Nana: I love your new ticker:rotfl:

stepdisney: I hope you've got your trip all squared away now. Are you still unsure about BC Vs. YC? The main differences are:

~BC is closest to the IG.

~YC is closest to the BW.

~YC has a more relaxed and quiet atmosphere than BC (fewer families).

~BC has deluxe rooms whereas the YC has Jr. Suites which are larger, but cost more.

~Obviously, the theming is different and the availability of balconies and daybeds do vary between the resorts.

~YC is closest to the BW.
Actually I say the Beach Club is closer to the Boardwalk, although that depends on how you look at it. For example when I have walked from the Boardwalk to the Beach Club I always went past the Boardwalk Bakery, ESPN Club and entrance to the International Gateway, then the next resort I would see is the Beach Club. Going back to the Boardwalk I would go the exact same way because the other direction would take me past the Yacht Club.

Now I guess you can say the Yacht Club is closer although that's true if you were to walk there towards the sign that says how to find the Swan/Dolphin, because when going to the Boardwalk that way you will first see Atlantic Dance, Jellyrolls and start walking along side the Boardwalk Villas rooms and it's stores. Plus if I wanted to walk from the Boardwalk to the Yacht Club I would go in the opposite direction past their stores, Jellyrolls and Atlantic Dance.

Minnie&Nana and WDWKOOK I am better, but not 100%. Holding in fluids, and Immodium AD is my new BFF. Nausea still there so no food for me. This is NOT the way I wanted to lose weight :lmao: Want coffee, can't do it yet:confused3 Kids had it for only a day. My DD had Kindergarten orientation today, I am so proud of her:love: She didn't want to go, but she had a lot of fun:cheer2: Not too sick to Disney plan though:goodvibes

Today's 2012 plan-Nov 11th to 17th. May not hit all the decorations, but we can go to the XMas party. Resort choice (had help from DS,CR or BLT/BWV, AoA/Poly*Princess Suite, WL/BWV) Yeah I know not really narrowed down AT ALL. I'd like to do a split stay MK/Epcot. I know....no GF, but I kinda don't want to be there if it's crowded:confused3

Can you take in some electrolytes - Gatorade or chicken stock? When this is all over you need a trip to Starbucks for a Venti something!

Will DD's kindergarten be full-day? Is she your youngest? Does she feel better about it now that she went to orientation?

It really seems like a split stay is in your future for '12. Well, that's what my crystal ball says.
