Resort Changers--The Saga Continues.....

How are you pas130?

Wow, that is some upgrade! How can you keep it a surprise? Do your kids know? I have no will power and would want to talk about that suite all the time:hyper2:

I'm good. All is quiet here (for another 10 minutes til the bus comes). LOVE naptime:lovestruc I have no willpower either, luckily DH NEVER goes on the Disney Website (or the DIS) or he'd see that Reservations page with a big ole GF picture:rotfl: I keep talking about how it's such a shame the rooms at Pop are so small, maybe we should do ASMu Suite....Did I mention he also thinks we are doing only one day at WDW? I HAVE to prove to myself I can do this! I am the wife that gives him B-day presents when I buy them, because I CAN'T keep a secret!!!!! I keep thinking, their faces will drop when we get to our suite:cloud9:And my kids are worse than me when it comes to secrets....

How are you? I see you on the CR board, and Poly, and hope one day I will decide which resort I will pick for 2012:confused3 And I do talk about the suite all the time, with all my girlfriends here., hee hee

Been there - done that. :thumbsup2 CR is permanently booked and so is WL CL. :rolleyes1

Nice to see you WDWKOOK, LillianGracey, pas130 and disneydreamin247! :goodvibes

I haven't changed yet, but only because AKL PV and Poly are no longer available for my dates. :hyper:

And I've decided to stay off the Restaurants board. Evey time I go on there I want to add a new restaurant to my list. If I actually ate at half of them they'd have to roll me around! :lmao:

The DIS didn't send me my email notifications for the thread. :headache: HI!!!

disneydreamin247 There's a saying, don't know if it's from a movie or what....You can't fix stupid. There's common sense and book smarts, sounds like DS's teacher has the latter (hopefully). Keep us updated with the phone conference today:hug:

Phone IEP went well. We kept the same program, school, and services. My new issue is the bus. DS is getting attacked on the bus EVERY day. Today he came home with a mark on his eye. I called the bus company and of course the driver and matron deny anything happening on the bus, but I have a picture of DS' face and I'm going to the school on Monday because I am SICK of this bus company. They hire anyone off the street. These people are not qualified to work with special needs children by any means. DS' last matron was an absolute witch and didn't understand that antagonizing a child like mine is going to make a situation much worse. I am not saying the way DS acted was appropriate by any means, but she was not the right person for the job and I caught her yelling at my DS a few times and one day near Christmas I caught her telling him Santa wasn't coming to his house. REALLY?! She left and now we have this new winning pair. :sad2: Sorry, needed to get that off my chest!

I do appreciate the link. :goodvibes

:sad2: I check out on April 22nd. :sad1: Disney World is mean. :headache:

I almost switched to AKL again today, but am holding off.

How weird is it that I booked my two least favorite "never-would-stay-there" resorts for my solo trip? :confused3

I've booked and changed AKL so many times in the past. I just can't commit to that resort. I'm afraid of a bad view, a room that's a 20 minute walk, and how far it is from all the other resorts.

I don't think it's weird. I think you'll have a great time, no wait, you WILL have an awesome trip:thumbsup2 It does stink you're missing the discount by 1 day, not nice. My DH thinks we are staying at Pop in August, I am keeping the suite a surprise:laughing:

Can you marry me? :rotfl:

I'm sorry the promo won't work for you.

Maybe you're using the George Costanza approach to resort selection and doing the complete opposite of what you would normally do:confused3

I have NO IDEA what I'm thinking here. I mean seriously, AsSpo and CSR are appealing to me? In what universe? :lmao:

AKL is all about the requests. Booking CL will give you a guaranteed savanna view, and if you ask for Zebra trail everything is an elevator ride away. Easy peasy! I :lovestruc it there. :goodvibes

As far as the bus situation, I had one with DS10 2 years ago. I did two things. I showed up at the transportation office to talk to the supervisor, and I also told them that I wanted the situation resolved immediately or that they would have to provide alternate transportation for John.

For some reason :rolleyes1 they did take care of it the next day. Perhaps it's my reputation when it comes to my kids? :littleangel:

I hope you can get the situation resolved soon!

And seriously? A mark on his face?!?! I would march in there with my lawyers business card and make such a huge fuss! :headache: It really ticks me off when people who have no business working with special needs kids are... Grrr...:headache:

Well, I spoke to the bus company and all the guy did was blame the kids. He's lucky I was holding DD or I would have flipped out. He wants the school to suspend the kids. HELLOOOOOO this entire school is special ed. The problem is that this company isn't hiring people trained to work with these children! He was seriously defending the driver and matron. I had to hang up on him before I lost it. Monday should be VERY interesting!

Since we all pretty much know what resorts each of us likes, why not list the resorts you don't like and wouldn't switch to?

You can only pick two, and you can't name the one you really love, ok?

I'll start.

I don't like POFQ or CSR and wouldn't switch to either one of them. (Although I did this trip but don't hold that against me ok? My wallet spoketh)

POFQ is just too bleech for me, and I hated the food court. I need more landscaping. I don't like CSR either for some reason. It was too big, too crowded, and again, not enough landscaping for me. But I do love the Pepper Market so I keep going there to eat.

Who's next? What resorts wouldn't you switch to? :listen:

I'm telling you - a lawyers business card works wonders in this type of situation. And whenever there is violence on a school bus, the adults are directly responsible for letting it occur (as you well know). That guy is a real moron. :headache:

So go get them! Nothing is more scary than a justifiable angry mother!

Only because of their overall location I wouldn't want to stay at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. We like the Magic Kingdom Resorts and Epcot Resorts because it's easy to use the Monorail or just walking to them during the evenings.

As for the second one I would have to say it's Coronado Springs because of how much they are spread out, which is the same for all the Moderate Resorts and I also didn't like their overall location when I went there a few years ago to purchase a pin.

POFQ, POR, SSR, OKW. I also have a list of probably nots that includes CSR, ASSp, ASMu, and YC.

Especially one that hasn't slept in about 3 months! :rotfl: Seriously, I look scary enough these days without being mad. Monday I'll probably look like Medusa! :scared1:

I had to wake up early this morning for work and decided to see check out the special offer on the deluxe/deluxe villas and of course CR was not available. :rotfl:

I wouldn't switch to POP. I really dislike the themeing. I guess my second choice would be AKL because of the location. It looks beautiful, but it seems so far away from everything like the All-Stars. Though I would stay at the All-Stars because I enjoy the themes. :goodvibes

You know your trip is close when there's a reminder on the WDW front page saying, "in x amount of days, you can save time, skip the line and check in online." :lovestruc Just 28 days 'til I can check-in online! Hopefully before then I can get a non-club level room.

I had the same issues with DS (high functioning autism) on the bus as well. This one kid was spitting and hitting other kids! To make a long story short, I had to come out of my character and they removed this kid from the bus. His parents had the nerve to say that the other kids must be provoking him:mad:
One thing I have learned over the year with dealing with anything that deals with DS, I have to be assertive because if you don't they will just do whatever and let things go.

disneydreamin247 My DH might not appreciate it if I marry you, BUT I AM adopting you as my sister:goodvibes I am SO sorry for DS. It is totally unacceptable to have any violence to the bus, and I agree that you need to start the paper trail. Notify the school, let them know ALL about the bus company's reaction to your complaint. And that you are prepared to take legal action. Let the hormones and lack of sleep show them how serious you are. Usually the mention of my lawyer can get things moving. It amazes me how ignorant people can be! I can't even imagine how upset DS must be

Ohopeful35 Don't you love it when other children's parents force the blame on the victim? Argh! And yes I agree you have to stay on top of things, because otherwise they think you forgot and nothing ever gets solved:headache:

kaffinito Thanks for your confidence in me in keeping this surprise. Only under 5 months to go....They don't even ask anymore because I "keep changing everything":rotfl:

OK, top 2 resorts that don't appeal to me: OKW, PO (either one)
I am not a big fan of moderates (I like that CSR has suites though), I prefer the theming at the values even if the rooms are smaller. We really liked SSR, but OKW was never one that I had any desire to stay in (no matter how many good reviews I have read, IDK why)

Anyone have any thoughts on a YC Junior Suite/Deluxe room Vs. a Poly Lagoon View CL room? They are pricing out about the same for us, but the rooms are quite different:

The YC Junior Suite is 645 Sq. Ft., but isn't on the CL floor (they're on the 3rd and 4th floors). It has a Crescent Lake View and full balcony (there are only two of these rooms). The Poly LV room is only 415 Sq. Ft.

We have never had a LV or CL room at the Poly nor a suite at the YC. We're doing a split stay with the first five nights at the CR, so we thought the next 7 nights of the split should be at an Epcot resort, but now I'm not sure since the costs are almost identical and it's so easy to get to the TTC/Epcot from the Poly.

(And, yes, I've already posted this question to the Poly and CL threads, too:laughing: and, no, with only 2 adults and our DD, the room size isn't that important, we just like to feel "spread-out" since we're all only children who aren't used to sharing:laughing:)

First, before I forget, I want to make sure you know about the 25% off Quick Serve coupon here:

Now, to get down to business:

We've never stayed in a Value, so I can't comment. Many years back I did think a Family Suite would be great, but myriad transportation options always wins me over and we never did stay at a Value.

HATED CBR, but I'll revise that to say that I hated our CBR room, so that's why I hated CBR. We stayed one night on a late arrival night before the CR and our CBR room was the filthiest hotel room I've ever been in:scared1:. I had high hopes with the theming and all, but you give me a filthy room and a way-too-crowded food court (though the salmon was good) at 9:00 at night after driving for 14 hours and I'm never staying there again. Nope. (Even if it was only $100 with tax).

I have never stayed at BWI, but the theming and location just doesn't appeal to me, so there will be no BWI TRs from me (sorry, CRRF4L).

I have a love/hate relationship with the Poly. One stay was "love" and one was "hate" and we switched to the CR after a few nights.

Our second stay, we got into our room and there was garbage in the waste basket, dirty tissues left on the nightstand, the bathroom was moldy and the floors were sticky, blech. We had sand in front of our door the whole 3 days, meaning no one ever vacuumed the hall while we were there or prior to our arrival. The elevator was also filthy. The "cart people" also got on our nerves when we were almost run over and honked at one too many times and we just prefer having everything in one building, especially when its pouring.

But, I love the location, being able to walk to the TTC and take the monorail to the MK and we love the lagoon and the meal options. Our first stay was the complete opposite of our second, but it was a different longhouse and more off-season. I really want to book Hawaii/LV, but I'm chicken (not me or my hat, but I like the photo).

Remember that if you do stay CL, don't bother with online check-in. You will check-in on the 12th floor and the concierge already will have everything ready for you.

BTW, I went to Target today and I thought of you and wished you worked there:goodvibes

OThopeful35 I'm sorry to hear that. I definitely have learned the same thing. It may be the only time my tough NY personality works to my advantage.

pas130 Yay! I'm a lonely child these days lol. I really want this bus company to be responsible. I don't want the blame placed on the child. This company just sucks in plain English. They have the worst staff ever.

Hi everyone. I know that I have been away for a little while. This is my first year teaching the 9th grade and it has proven to be.....um....well....INTERESTING. :scared1: I have been keeping up with the talk and the ideas. I have been so bogged down that I missed my 180 day mark and have not made any ADR's yet. I am sooooo behind this year. Odder still, I am not panicking at all. I am, however, changing to BCV. We are doing US/IOA; Seaworld; Busch Gardens Tampa before we get to Disney and we are going to need space to spread out and a washer and dryer in our room. We are seriously considering Kidani again but we REALLY want to be in the Epcot area. So I am a bit stressed, STILL, about what resort to choose.

But Kaffinito, to answer your question, I wouldn't want to switch to pop, or any of the AS resorts or POFQ/POR. We stayed at the WL last year so that is out. Also, I wouldn't want to switch to SSR or OKW or CBR. Any other resort is fair game.....leaving a LOT of resort.

What!? I got excited for nothing!? I really wanted to do the online check-in! It makes waiting for the trip a lot more exciting! :rotfl: I still need to contact IPO, but I'm waiting another week or two to see if I can get a non-CL room.

Awe! Really? That's so sweet of you! Did you check out the dollar section for the Disney stuff? I raided it.

As much as I love the Poly and reading the thread to keep me from dying of over excitement from our trip, I think I'm going to stay away from there. I've been getting a less than friendly feeling over there lately. At least I still have my RC and GF family! :grouphug:

 I've been following. Just stick with us :goodvibes We'll talk Poly with you :)

At work today, I saw this movie called Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus and I thought of Disneyland. Why you ask? Because I thought of the giant octopus/squid from the 20k Leagues Under the Sea ride and Bruce from the Finding Nemo submarine ride. I could see them fighting to see who stays at DL and as you can see, Bruce won since 20k Leagues Under the Sea isn't there anymore. :sad1:

I'm so weird. :rotfl:
